Nintendo is known for some of the best video game franchises in the history of the industry. This past decade saw the debut of many great new franchises from them.
"Watch this video from ABC, it is perhaps one of the worst “Citizen Kane of Gaming” discussions ever. First off, I wonder if Micheal Thompson has “Video Game Expert” on his business card, and how one acquires such a title. The worst part of this entire production is that at first, it seems like ABC understood what Citizen Kane actually meant. They start out asking if there is “a game that does for gaming, what Citizen Kane does for film.” When they cut to IGN’s “Video Game Expe..."
Remember playing through Corruption, being forced to go into hyper mode through enemies and cutscenes? Remember losing a energy tank for it?
Turns out that Retro Studios were highly against Hyper Mode for a long time until a compromise was made. Intresting stuff.
"People dressing up like their favorite game character has been around for years now. At big game shows such as ComicCon, E3, Tokyo Game Show and other various conventions you will find people dressed up as their or your favorite game characters. Often times you can’t help it but start staring or drooling at some costumes you may see around the convention."
"We just got sent the box art for the upcoming Metroid Prime Trilogy and, wow, it's really nice. Featuring a badass Samus-adorned metal case, the box art is about as cool and futuristic as the retooled Metroid Prime content located on its disc. In addition to the metal case, the Wii Trilogy will also include a "special Metroid Prime Trilogy artbook." Looks like Nintendo's managed to weasel out another $50 out of us, huh? We'd go on more about it, but then that would keep you from going into ou..."
Fans of the Metroid Prime games will be happy to know that Nintendo will be releasing all three games on a single disc. Not only do you get the convenience of having all three games on one disc, but Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2 Echoes, which were originally released on the Gamecube, will feature widescreen and 480p support along with motion controls a la Metroid Prime 3. However, the good news doesn't end there. The compilation will be released on August 24th for the price of a regular g...
The gang here loves us some "Top Lists", but over the past few months they have gotten out of hand - how could we continue making top lists? After hours of grueling brainstorming with Street Fighter 4, Chris Plante, our wetnosed associate editor delivered brilliance: "What about the best hands in shooters!" We laughed, and approached it as a joke, but the more we thought it about it... [snip] no, seriously, think about it...
"Video game characters, though they might swear and be the master of unlocking locks, are usually not badass, mainly because theyre so stiff and run-of-the-mill. But then, there are exceptions, such as this list below, which is a compilation of characters so badass that they can even make YOU feel badass while playing as them, thats how cool they are. Sadly, though, Im pretty sure none of them have wallets that say bad mother*bleep*er on them. Oh, well, I never said that they were Sa..."

Do you remember playing Doom and laughing at all your friends who didn't have it? Or played a recent Star Fox game and wished they'd stuck to the high standards set by Star Fox 64? Have you been a devoted Metroid fan right from the start?
This article is all about games and their transformations over the years. It gives you the run down on each game and the big changes, along with bringing back a lot of fond memories.
Are there any other games you felt have really evolved over a long pe...
The guys over at Pwn or Die have done their best to photoshop Alaskan Governor turned potential Vice President Sarah Palin into some of our favorite video games as some of our favorite ladies.
From Cortana in Halo to Meryl in MGS, and even Samus and Lara Croft - it is worth peek for a laugh.
IGN members Matt Casamassina, Mark Bozon and Lucas Thomas have compiled a list of the twenty Nintendo Wii games that every Wii gamer should own.
It's well structured listing the name, publisher, develop, whether it's Wii exclusive, an overview, a profile picture and a video.
The first game on the list is Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and the last is Excite Truck.
Most of the list is a listing of the most popular games around, however, some are quite surprising.
Three key developers from the fabled studio behind the Metroid Prime games have broken away and formed their own house. Mark Pacini, Todd Keller and Jack Mathews have already signed an exclusive publishing deal with EA and are set to work on new IP's. It's rumored they may be making games for the 360 or PS3.
Starting August 15th at 6PM CST, TheSpeedGamers will be hosting a event called "Metroid Marathon" to help raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, who aim to cure sick children. The marathon lasts 72 hours.
The "Metroid Marathon" will consist of nine Metroid games, including Metroid, Metroid Prime, and Metroid Fusion. If you want to see all of the games that they are playing in order, hit the source.
In addition, TheSpeedGamer will also be offering prizes for completing a...
OK, supposing you could date a female video game character of your choice.....Did you ever wonder how your mother might see her? A good match, or a horrible influence?
Well, this article (complete with images) examines which 10 you SHOULD take to meet your mom, and which 10 you probably shouldn't >_>
Some non-surprising characters on the list. I gather the average reader would know of at least several of them.
TBH, I'd like to date Etna (not on the list), though she might make me r...
"Nintendo has denied internet reports that the Metroid Prime Trilogy in its entirety is coming to Wii.
According to GoNintendo, a tipster claimed that the computer system of a retailer had a new Wii game listed as 'Metroid Prime Trilogy'.
Internet speculation jumped to the obvious conclusion that Metroid Prime 1, 2 and 3 were being repackaged as one and the GameCube games were being revamped for the console.
But speaking to CVG, Nintendo labelled the rumour as "Purely rumour and spe..."
"You guys know how I am with our GoNintendo Mole. I dont hear from him too often, but when the mole gets in touch, I listen. This news is 100% rumor for now, but that doesnt make it any less juicy.
Word has it that a certain retailer had a SKU pop up in their computer systems for a Metroid Prime Trilogy on Wii. What could this title be? Well, I would expect it to be Prime 1, 3, and 3 all on the Wii
but Prime 1 and 2 with all-new Wiimote controls. I love Metroid, but I really dont kno..."
Lead designer Mark Pacini, engineer Jack Mathews, and art director Todd Keller, who were all seniors of the company Retro Studios have moved one. These three people were some of the main people involved in bringing you the Metroid Prime Trilogy. The reason for them leaving is not yet known.
It is also rumored that the three may make their own development studio, but that is still up in the air and yet to be seen.

Its just George, Paul and Stephen this week as we go through another week of gaming news and views. This week we talked about whether Halo 3 is reaching overhyped status among gamers. Also We hit on the Playstation Home beta that was extended into October. We have a small segment on the Microsoft Chatpad. We talk about how the hackers will take over the Guitar Hero 3 franchise when it hits the PC and Mac this fall. And we talk in depth about the Castlevania series.
This week. we covered a gamut of topics. We first talked a bit about our Wii Giveaway. Then we got into the banhammer that was dropped on Halo 3 Epsilon players and the 24 hour ban dropped on Call of Duty 4 beta fans. We talked about the free games that just came out from Ubisoft and EA, which we hope is a trend in the right direction for older games. We also hit on the Bioshock multiplayer issue and digital distribution being the savior of PC Gaming.
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and BioShock ... what a pair, eh? Both are shooters, both with their own unique spin on the FPS genre, and both are flagship titles for their respective systems. So what's the difference? Well, one game, BioShock, was hyped to the stratosphere. The other, Metroid, seemed to suffer from a lack of attention until just before release.
So which one came out on top in the sales charts last week when Corruption debuted? The less-hyped Metroid pulled out the top spot. ...
A hidden message was discovered by a GameTrailers user in the Wii exclusive- Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. However the message is nothing like the "Hot Coffee" scandal of GTA: SA, but a much 'lighter' and a bit of a comic relief. View the video below to hear it (however it is in Japanese).... if you want to hear the translation then just scroll down a bit further and below the trailer you'll find yourself a translation:
"In the formidable wake of BioShock and its outstanding critical reception, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption regardless of the series reputation that has gone before it really needs to be something special considering that the first-person shooter genre has so recently been utterly redefined and re-imagined.
However, if you had to pick an FPS franchise that could follow the wonders of BioShock and even stand a realistic chance of eclipsing it, well
Metroid Prime would certainly be on th..."
It's been a long time coming, but the wait is finally over. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption was released today after a 10 month delay. However, according to IGN, the wait was totally worth it.
IGN is raving about this game, calling it 'the best in the Prime series', 'Wii's best looking game', 'spectacular controls', and even going as far as saying its 'better than any console first-person game before it'. It received an overall score of 9.5/10.
Retro Studios might have just created one of t...
The hype and hyperbole for BioShock continues its ebb and flow across the industry - and critical feedback sure says that 2K Games' latest offering is a bona fide stunned. But what's on offer this week? Well, if you're in the US, then Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is the cream of the crop, while the likes of Blue Dragon, Warhawk, and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 are following close behind.

"Mmmm, another European release date announced. Metroid Prime 3 is set to roll into (see what I did there?) European shelves on October 26th. If I lived in Europe, I would be purchasing this on my Playstation 2s 7th year anniversary .if I didnt give it to my friend after getting my PS3 that is."
"In an effort to get you excited for the late August release of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Nintendo today announced that they'll be releasing the original NES Metroid onto the Wii Virtual Console on August 13 for 500 Wii Points.
The fun doesn't stop there. On August 20, Nintendo will release the SNES Super Metroid for 800 Wii Points. Boy, if I was to get into either of those games again, I might miss out on the launch of Metroid Prime 3.
I better stay away from them. They've already ta..."
Although the prospect of playing BioShock is successfully pushing the disappointment of the summer months into the nether regions of our gaming minds, it's worth noting that a certain armour-clad Samus Aran will also be gracing our lives a matter of days after the arrival of Irrational Games' underwater epic.
How could be possibly forget about Metroid Prime 3: Corruption? Well, we haven't. And to prove it, here's the latest trailer and chunk of sexy gameplay. We like. We like a lot.
"Previously the WiiWare section of the Wii Shop Channel was home only to the Internet Channel and the Everybody Votes Channel, but if todays download is anything to go by, could we be looking at more downloadable trailers and even demos in the future?"
"We've got the latest Nintendo release schedule that reveals the much anticipated European release dates for two of its biggest upcoming games.
Samus' massive Wii debut isn't far off because Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is hitting stores on October 26. YES!
And Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (aka The Best Game on DS) is sailing it's way to our little island a week before that: October 19."
Somewhat subdued by Microsoft and Sony's E3 standards, Nintendo rolled out a bunch of games for Wii and DS that we've known about for quite some time - and none of which offered up much by way of progression.
Instead, Nintendo chose to focus on the WiiFit system, which it hopes will get couch-bound lazy good-for-nothings up and working out rather than sitting back and clicking buttons. Good luck with that, Ninty.
Here is an E3 trailer of the upcoming game, Metroid Corruption, along with 5 new pictures too. Coming out 27th August this year for the Nintendo Wii, the final game of the Prime trilogy is set to be a scorcher.
"Michael Kelbaugh, President and CEO of Retro Studios, gives us a final update on Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, as well as one bit of bad news: online multiplay will not appear.
17 New Metroid Prime 3: Corruption Screens GamePro: Will Metroid Prime 3 have any online modes?
Michael Kelbeugh:: No. It's something we talked about early on, but we only have so many resources. We opted to devote those resources to making a better single-player experience.
What are the biggest differences ..."
"- First level - You are attacked on a spaceship while meeting with the ships captain
action packed
- Play feels motion controls work better than dual joystick
- Super sensitive pointer in advanced mode
- Beam stacking ala Super Metroid
- Visor switch: Hold minus and flick Wiimote in certain directions
- Boss fight with Ridley at the end of the first level. Excellent difficulty curve by the time you reach the boss.
- Back tracking in MP3:C makes more sense than in prev..."
"Whether you're a longtime gamer who likes classic franchises or a newcomer aiming to keep your brain sharp, Nintendo's summer lineup of games has something for you. Nintendo's offerings are anchored by key Wii games like Metroid Prime 3 Corruption and Mario Strikers Charged. Nintendo DS owners can challenge their minds with games like Brain Age 2: More Training in Minutes a Day and the new picture-based puzzle game, Picross DS.
Licensees also are demonstrating a strong commitment to Wii a..."
