"Mirror's Edge fans finally get the long awaited Time Trial Map Pack today after enduring one delay.
Shedding the cityscape, DICE created a series of new environments that look minimalist but feel surreal, successfully fusing two art genres in a virtual setting. You still play as Faith, and the basic mechanics of Time Trial still apply. There are a total of nine maps, and each one bears its own unique flavor, created by subtleties in color, lighting, and block placement."
"Just keep moving. Dont stop to smell roses, dont worry about the helicopter on your tail, just keep running and hope that you survive the whole ordeal. And thus is the tale of Faith, a woman who has found herself caught in a political scandal revolving around the assassination of a famed Mayoral candidate. And while story itself is garbage, the beauty of the game comes from how well everything gels together. Despite the horrible story and poorly designed combat sequences, the excellent leve..."
"Mirrors Edge is bold game. Set in the traditional near future where The Man has taken control of just about everything and the only people who are truly free are pushed to the edge of society. Nothing particularly new or ground breaking there then."
OXCGN writers (2 reviews for the price of one) have a look at DICE's latest outing - Mirror's Edge. Check out both reviews and see their thoughts on the game.
From my side of the fence, the game adds some stunning visuals and game play, but is this shared by many gamers, or do they want the same-old-same-old still?

Videogamer.com has a really nice Mirror's Edge video review up on their website, which you can view through the source (be sure to watch it in HD if you can). They give the game a high score, and while noting its short story length, they say it's certainly not the be all and end all of the game as there are many ways to find replayability. More, they call it a highly original and refreshing experience, and can't wait for the sequel.
""Mirror's Edge is definitely an odd beast. Not only does it persuade gamers to use their mind, it asks them to avoid conflict and violence in pursuit of running away from the action. Can gamers truly be convinced to drop their guns and exit stage left when the bullets begin flying?""
"Utopia always seems like a great idea until you realize that its actually being run by a freedom-hating Establishment who wants you to be content only as long as it doesnt interfere with their plans. It doesnt even matter what those plans are, especially since the folks in charge arent talking. Just make a point of not getting in the way.
The city constructed by EAs Digital Illusions CE studio for Mirrors Edge is just such a false utopia. It is a place where information is suppre..."
"Mirror's Edge is set in an immaculate city ripped right from the pages of Orwell's 1984. The government now controls every aspect of daily life, and the city's residents have long since given in to the comfortable yet stifled way of living. As such, people known as Runners have found their niche by transporting documents and packages. These fashionably attuned courriers navigate a complex system of conduits and runways, comprised of city skyscrapers to industrial storm drains. While their..."

"Mirror's Edge isn't just a shooter. It's actually a sort of anti-shooter. Only with guns. It takes the basic shape and feel of an FPS, but then ditches the focus on destruction and fury and instead goes for elegance and style - and still does guns really well, when it feels like it.
You're Faith, resident of an ominously sanitised near-future city. But the arctic cleanliness masks political corruption and police brutality. Criminals and dissidents have been pushed underground, resulting ..."
