"Wonder Woman is capable of superhuman feats akin to that of Superman, commonly in the form of flying and super strength. Wonder Woman's signature weapon is the Lasso of Truth, which forces its user's targets to confess the truth of whatever is asked against their will."
NoobFeed Guest writer, Syed Rubayyat Akbar writes about the history of the Mortal Kombat franchise as well as voicing his own personal experiences playing them. This is part two.
"This week's Cosplay Babe of the Week is the very popular character from both comic books and videogames who carries a lasso and flies an invisible jet. It's none other than Wonder Woman herself. Possibly known more for comic books and film, Wonder Woman has appeared in many games"

"With Mortal Kombat 9 now under way, it’s a bit of a push for fans of Midway’s crossover: Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, to expect downloadable for the November title. With the team now dispersed, only recently has Ed Boon, the series creator, unveiled a 3D render of a series favourite, Quan Chi, the dark sorcerer who was favourite to be one of the first DLC characters for the gory superhero mash up."
Midway Games, the makers of popular coin-op arcade games in the 80s and 90s was looking to get acquired by Warner Brothers. However after the deal turned south it appears the developer is following modern trends and asking for a government bailout. [Satire]
"The man who brought Mortal Kombat to the big screen has sued Midway in U.S. Bankruptcy Court over what he claims are his intellectual property interests in the franchise. The suit may interfere with a proposed $33 million sale of Midway assets to Warner Bros.
In a complaint filed yesteday, Lawrence Kasanoff, through his company, Threshold Entertainment, asked the Court to preserve his IP rights including copyrights to certain MK series characters. Kasanoff also wants to retain the right t..."
"Despite financial turmoil at Mortal Kombat publisher Midway, the Chicago-based MK team is soldiering on with the ninth fighting game in the series, currently known only as MK9. Series co-creator Ed Boon says it will definitely be M-rated.
Boon has been dropping small tidbits about the bloody fighting game sequel via his Twitter account, writing "Motion capturing special moves & fatalities today....they are kind of sick!!" Boon also backs up what he told us last year during an interview at ..."

We've been seeing the symptoms for a while and now it's finally happened. Midway's actually filed for bankruptcy as they have about $150 million in debt. According to Matt Booty, Midway CEO, filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy will protect them long enough for them to find other alternatives to get their act straight again. To be honest, I'm not really happy about this, not that I bought many of their games but...damn...there goes Mortal Kombat.
"At first I thought it to be a prank, surely they wouldn't screen Scorpion decapitating the likes of Wonder Woman or Batman, it would just be weird, wouldn't it? Despite all of the scepticism and worry about the game, it was released, and when I got it, I personally still had an incling that it may turn out to be less than satisfactory."
"Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe was the result of countless hours of hard work by many people, and seeing the game surpass the million-seller plateau makes it worth all the effort... We're already hard at work on our next version of Mortal Kombat, and look forward to being able to reveal more details in the future."
"Video game characters, though they might swear and be the master of unlocking locks, are usually not badass, mainly because theyre so stiff and run-of-the-mill. But then, there are exceptions, such as this list below, which is a compilation of characters so badass that they can even make YOU feel badass while playing as them, thats how cool they are. Sadly, though, Im pretty sure none of them have wallets that say bad mother*bleep*er on them. Oh, well, I never said that they were Samuel ..."
"My initial intention was to check out the "Halo Wedding" (a couple who met playing Halo online and now were getting married publicly at Otronicon) and my other reason was to play on "The Ultimate Rock Band Drum Kit."
Both my dreams came true and much more. I had been to Otronicon in the past, being held at the Science Center and not being as big, it really felt more like an exhibit than a video game convention. This year, it felt a bit bigger and slightly more organized."

Patrick Klepek of multiplayerblog.mtv.com blogs about his unfortunate tale. He packed himself ready these Christmas holidays, he was ready to spend two weeks destroying his wrists, but he ended up doing absolutely no gaming at all! With this he poses the question, is he the only one?
"When you see long-standing publishers take a hit and respond by laying people off, canceling projects and delaying triple-A games, you know something is very wrong. And even though 2009 has a nice line-up of hardcore games that are easily classifiable as big-budget, they could be the last for a long time to come."
OXCGN takes a look at the latest Mortal Kombat game where both Mortal Komba=t pit their skills against the Good-guys of DC universe.
Will the game cut it and impress previous Mortal Kombat fanes and DC Universe fans a like? Or will it leave them wanting?
According to the review, it looks rather pleasing for all concerned, so slip over and check out the review, and the pics.
Midway, the developers of Mortal Kombat and many other classic franchises may well be on the way out. Recently the company has got into serious debt, and a single investor bought a majority of 87% of the stock for just $100 000. Even worse the stock price fell 40% more after the sale. Mark Thomas, the new owner of company is expected to put 70 million dollars into the company to help rejuvenate it, but with the way things are going, you have to wonder whether it is enough.
In "Crossover" the recent Ctrl+Alt+Del webcomic, Tim Buckley takes a nice jab at why the recent Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe might not be what gamers are talking about right now.
"The arcade industry had been in a bit of a slump in the late 1980s the rise of home systems like the NES had made quarter-munchers less alluring to kids who could simply play games at home. Arcade manufacturers responded by pumping up the tech of their machines to deliver better graphics and faster gameplay, but that was merely a stopgap measure. Something needed to be done to make the coinop relevant again, and in 1991 Japanese company Capcom did so with the release of Street Fighter II. T..."
Gametrailers.com gave MK vs DC an overall score of 7.4 out of 10. The narrator praises the coherent storyline and the general presentation featured in the game. Complaints included lack of any bonus gameplay modes like Chess, unlockable content, and violence.
"In the original version, the Joke pulls a joke pistol and cracks up when a little "Bang!" flag comes out instead of a bullet. Then, with the victim confused as hell with what's going on, he pulls a second gun and shoots his opponent for real.
But they wanted the game to be rated T. So along with the other soul-selling changes they're making to Mortal Kombat, they edited the fatality so that in the American version of the game, the loser walks off screen as the Joker laughs about the fake g..."
Good news for you DC and MK fans, if you're looking to add more trophies to your already big or coming up collections, well the list of trophies has been announced for the game.

"Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe (PS3, Xbox 360) goes gold and it's Midway Games seems to be making good on its schedule for release. It looks like MK opened another portal in yet another realm - this time, they wind up face to face with the heroes and villains of DC.
With the Fatalities and violence toned down, the bloodthirsty warmongers of MK won't get to spill as much hero blood as MKfans would like, but the righteous heroes of DC would be glad to know they won't have to break their oaths..."
"Im not going to give anything away, but I will say that the entire concept isnt quite as far-fetched as you might have thought. Im not entirely sure how theyre going to tie-in the endings with the story (for each character) and still have things work cohesively, but maybe it wont be as bad as some of us think."
"The new Pro Move system the new combo-supers that are featured in the trailer is an extension of the normal Super Move system. Players can inflict more damage, execute extended combos and pretty much beat the competition into a state of pwnage. Yes, pwnage."
Some new screenshots have surfaced for Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe. In addition to the screenshots, Midway has released a new podcast for some the game. The podcast covers the art aspects of the game.
"The one thing that you always have to wonder about Mortal Kombat games, is if the darn combo system is balanced out. Well, your wondering (as well as mine) has come to an end with a new trailer that gives a nice in-depth tutorial about how the fighting mechanics work in this newest Mortal Kombat game."
With the third quarter results coming up for Midway, things aren't looking so bright. They're expected to lose $0.70 in net loss, 20 cents more than expected. Since their not doing so hot, Midway has revealed that they will be canceling less important games.
""... so what if your favorite Mortal Kombat characters did battle with some of your favorite DC characters, and the connection was so explosive that it busted out of the realm of video games and onto the pages of a comic book? Well, there you have it. Thats exactly what happened.""
"Midway Games Inc. (NYSE: MWY) is expecting Mortal Kombat® vs. DC Universe to be on store shelves and available for purchase throughout North America on November 16th, 2008, and Europe on November 21st, 2008. Electronic Theatre delivers four new scheenshots of Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe released today at the Tokyo Game Show. Screens include Baraka and Lex.
"The fact of the matter, though, is that this DC Universe game doesnt have enough well-rounded characters to really sell the crossover in the first place. Checking out the new list, DC is throwing in fan-favorites like Superman, Green Latern and the Flash, but leaving less powerful Joes like Sgt. Rock, Lobo, and Sandman out of the mix because they may not have the appeal of a Batman, Wonder Woman or a Darkseid."
Probably because of the recent rumor about a possible leaked list, Midway has unveiled all of the characters that shall participate in the fighting game titled Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.
Hit up the quote for just some of the heroes and villains.
"Midways been choosy with roster announcements for their superhero/videogame mash-up, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Comics. Its been fun, nothing like the water torture approach Nintendo took with the Super Smash Bros. Dojo. Yet, it appears Xbox360Achievements.org has no patience for Midway, and have decided to crash the party."
Midway announced earlier this week at Leipzig that Wonder Woman and Raiden are confirmed for the upcoming Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. These are only two of the 4 confirmed characters so far (including Deathstroke and Kano)
"The latest render for upcoming license-'em-up Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe reveals Kitana ... and maybe reveals a little too much of Kitana, if women with huge bulbous protrusions from their crotch regions aren't your cup of tea. My love of women with ... shall we say ... "groinal gifts" is known to all and sundry, but even I'm a little intimidated by Kitana's considerable "bump mapping.""
GameSpot holds an interview with Ed Boon, co-creator of the Mortal Kombat series. One of the biggest things that catch attention is the fact that Ed is surprised at how much speculation has been spun by rumors and even the media. Explaining how the abscence of Fatalities was not officially announced. Instead MK characters and DC villains perform Fatalities, while DC heroes perform non-lethal Brutalities.
Also, there will be a story mode that apparently digs deeper into how the MK and DC Un...
The official website for the game Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, Worlds Collide, has recently released three screenshots. It shows a render of a character and some detailed background shots.
So, videogamer.com have had an interview with Ed Boon (the main game creator/developer/leader type person) after he announced Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe. Some things come as a suprise (both pleasent and unpleasent) and some things we just saw coming.
The main points to note from this article are;
1. There will be no fatalities. There will be finishing moves, but we won't be ripping Batman's spine out or making Superman's head explode in this game.
2. Boon said he is aiming for 20 ch...
In each title's first official cross-over game, Midway has teamed up with DC Comics to bring us Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe. Set for release this fall, it looks to be one brutal fighting game...let's just hope that they keep what made Mortal Kombat famous in there.
