"The Nintendo 3DS is getting a port of Monster Hunter Tri, titled Monster Hunter 3G, later this year. That's big news. But Capcom is planning more for Nintendo's portable. It's bringing Monster Hunter 4, the next major installment for the franchise, to the system."

""The entire game has 3D support, but basically it's not a game designed to rely on 3D. You can hunt all you want without having to concern yourself about 3D, so you've got the option to play the way you like there. However, the new portside area we've made for the game was created with an eye for 3D visuals -- giving it more depth, placing objects on top of each other, and other concepts to make the 3D more prevalent. It's been a fun development cycle, but working with 3D has also given us a ..."

It has become common knowledge at this point that Nintendo's online infrastructure for the Wii is fairly primitive. Few games support voice chat, Friend Codes are required for games to run on Nintendo's servers, and in the case of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, sometimes the games with the most online potential don't even work. Despite the obvious shortcomings of the Wii's online, there have been some online enabled games that excel even with Nintendo's handcuffs.

"We get in a nice short cast before the rush of new games for 2011 hits, but there is still plenty to talk about. Ghost Trick, Gran Turismo 5, Mass Effect 2, Monster Hunter Tri, Borderlands, 9 hours 9 persons 9 doors, Two Worlds 2, iCarus, and more.

As always we cover the week in gaming news, and some rumors as well. At the tail of the show we chat about TV shows, books, and movies. What more could you want, seriously tell us what you want more of."

I think that covers it, yeah we talk about a lot of games wanna fight about it?

It took a long time to compile all the information you sent from private message format to something we could use. Thank you so much for all of your answers! You guys rock!"

In All Age Gaming's 37th The Week That Was we discuss the Alan Wake add-on, Bungie's new partnership with publisher Activision, 3D and Gran Turismo 5, the Wii's price drop and more.

"It's time for the hunt to begin. After waiting several years for the next installment of the Monster Hunter franchise, Capcom has delivered the true successor in the main series with the release of Monster Hunter Tri on Wii. Originally, the game was rumored to be a PS3 title, but when things changes and it was instead announced for Wii, some became distraught over that fact, mostly because the lower-end graphics the Wii would display. A lot of that talk ceased when Capcom debuted the first of..."

"Third week in a row of thin releases. The big release this week is Monster Hunter Tri for the Nintendo Wii. The demo has been out for a while but now it is time to give the full game a spin with its four-player split-screen and free online multiplayer."

Although not nearly as jam-packed as last month, April is still a great month for new game releases with many exciting upcoming titles slated for release.

"Nintendo has today announced a series of public preview events for the forthcoming, highly-anticipated Monster Hunter Tri~ from Capcom. "Providing us with more than a dozen items and equipment to use, Monster Hunter Tri is set to be a fantastic title for those in need for a hack and slash title that has role-playing elements mixed in. Plus, there’s an online component – which, a partner in crime would’ve been beneficial – that should provide the greatest enjoyment."

"Players will be able to set up quests and join each other in the hunt online with just a few simple steps. If you meet a friend or someone you wish to hunt with, you can simply add them to your friend roster, following their mutual agreement. This makes them easy to find in the future, where a double click will take you straight to their quest if they are online."

"The official Monster Hunter Tri~ website originally launched back in December 2009, displaying a screen-filling reinforced wooden door and much disparagement to those who persisted in knocking. In early January 2010 the site was updated with all new screenshots, videos and a brief synopsis of the game. And now, the full launch has arrived, and has a fair few surprises in store for the Monster Hunter fan."

"Nintendo Now writes, With Capcom's new marketing plan with Nintendo taking place next Tuesday (March 8th) with the Monster Hunter Tri demo, I think it's safe to say that Monster Hunter Tri is going to be as big as they say. This is the first time in the Wii's history that a developer is going to give the consumer a chance to try a game out for free through retail. My opinions about this free two-leveled demo are very positive."

"Monster Hunter Tri~ is an action game with a difference. Your adventure is built interacting with and battling the scores of incredible beasts that inhabit your world - a living, breathing ecosystem. The monsters’ behaviour is modelled on real animals with territorial displays designed to keep you away if you get too close, migrations and a realistic food chain that sees the strong prey on the weak. This is a world where the monsters deserve your respect... and where the hunt is not for enter..."

Capcom have ended the rumors that a portable version of Monster Hunter Tri is currently in the works, with Capcom UK spokesman Leo Tan saying "If Capcom was to announce a new Monster Hunter Portable game, the chances of its first appearance in any magazine other than Famitsu are pretty slim."

"Each monster plays a role in the ecosystem of Monster Hunter. It's not just because of the cool design or any surface elements, but let's say we need some monster that runs really quickly and runs away. Then we'll think about what would be the best to describe that kind of characteristics. Based on the characteristics of each monster, we'll start considering, "We need to add this monster or that monster," so we work from the characteristics that is necessary for the game itself.

We've most..."

"Upon arrival fans were kept in a secret holding room where only the sound of monster roars could be heard before knights in armour led them into the lecture room where information about the European release was revealed exclusively by Ryozo Tsujomoto and Kaname Fujioka. After the lecture excited fans were whisked off to be amongst the first in the country to play the game and even had an opportunity to meet, have their photograph taken with and have their goody bags signed by the infamous Ryo..."

"The Electric Playground crew took a few minutes to talk to Kramez about one of our biggest games releasing this year, Monster Hunter Tri. Kramer gives a run down of some of the big ways we're changing Monster Hunter, and how that experience is making the most of the Wii. "We spent most of our youth hacking up make believe monsters. Tree stumps, bushes, neighbours’ pets – all it takes is a bit of imagination and no friends. It’s the key difference between gamers and non-gamers. The non-gamers embraced the magic of childhood looking for Where the Wild Things Are. We, on the other hand, asked Where the Wild Things Are Because We Want to Hit Them With Rakes. Gamers are destructive. Luckily, so are Capcom.

Death comes quickly in Monster Hunter Tri. This was much..."

"At the special event Nintendo had invited myself and fellow Cubed3 colleague Stuart Lawrence down to in London, Capcom had set up booths with all three main areas of Monster Hunter 3 to play through; a two-player arena, the single-player mode, plus that all-important online multiplayer aspect. Upon picking up the Classic Controller PRO, which will be bundled with the game here in Europe, and sitting down with the two-player arena, the first thing that struck me was how gorgeous everything loo..."

"We love our fans, so much so that we held a contest for fans to create and name weapons for Monster Hunter Tri. That's right, we asked you guys to make content for the game. We revealed the results a while back, and now we're happy to show off the in-game renders of the weapons"

According to Capcom's latest financial report, the company was disappointed with the sales of Okami (Wii) and Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles.
However, they were pleased with the "satisfactory" sales of Monster Hunter 3, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite PSP the Best, Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth, and Mega Man EXE: Operate Shooting Star.

"Wii owners will get to taste the game that has become a phenomenon in Japan, when Monster Hunter Tri~ roars into life across Europe in April 2010. And you’ll be able to hunt effectively as a pack, as the game will be fully Wii Speak compatible."

"The Nintendo Wii is currently the top console on the market this generation, and Nintendo and its third-party publishers are going to make sure that it stays on top of the game. There will be plenty of new titles to play this year -- sequels to popular franchises as well as new IPs, both on retail disk as well as digital download -- so don't think for a second that it'll be a "sparse" and "light" 2010 when it comes to Wii gaming.

Here's a quick look at the games we're most looking forward ..."

Capcom has solidified their Spring release schedule by handing out release dates to Lost Planet 2 (PS3, Xbox 360), Super Street Fighter IV (PS3, Xbox 360), Final Fight: Double Impact (PS3, Xbox 360) and Monster Hunter Tri (Wii).

Gamers will also be able to purchase the Classic Controller Pro separately (in white or black) for the same price as the current Classic Controller, $19.99. Monster Hunter Tri will also be available in a game-only package for $49.99."

2010 may be the best year yet on the Nintendo Wii thanks to plenty of high-profile exclusive games in addition to several lesser known Wii-only titles slated in the coming months.

"If there is one point that Nintendo can still make progress with, it is certainly on the quality of its online gaming service and in particular on Friend Codes. And when one of the biggest upcoming games mainly based on cooperative online, Monster Hunter Tri, announces the arrival of a proper system, we can only rejoice.

Indeed, there will be no Friend Codes to add difficulty to allow you to play your prerecorded contacts in your console. Capcom uses a new system to prevent the tedious pa..."

"Following the rumour that Capcom was no longer interested in developing videogames for Wii, spurred on by disappointing sales of Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, Capcom Europe has today delivered a statement. Denying the report, the publisher reaffirms it’s commitment to being a multi-format developer and publisher."

"Under the terms of the agreement Nintendo will be responsible for the sales, marketing and distribution of Monster Hunter Tri~ throughout European and Australian territories with Capcom remaining as publisher. Monster Hunter Tri~ is now scheduled for release this coming April."

"Monster Hunter Tri~ offers players the opportunity to live the life of a hunter, and with the option of split-screen mode where two players can hunt co-operatively it need never be a lonely existence. Further to this, players can form a team of up to four hunters via the game’s custom online Wi-Fi mode, playing together to achieve greater things. New items, weapons and armour sets will be available to assist the hunters as they slay new enemies, embarking on what is promised to be the most ep..."

". This is neither the "best of" or a "top 10" list, but rather a look at some of the coolest game trailers released during the year that got our blood pumping and our thumbs sweaty. Capcom intends to become a major international publisher by the end of the next fiscal year. Given all the titles that are being pushed back, they certainly have the resources to do so. But here's what their three-pronged strategy for success looks like.

Apparently Capcom's Q1 2010 release schedule was too crowded and in order to avoid having the games compete with each other (and other games) they've decided space to out the releases throughout the fiscal year. As a result of this, Super Street Fighter IV, Dead Rising 2, Lost Planet 2, and the North American release of Monster Hunter Tri have all been delayed. No concrete dates have been given but you can expect these titles to be released any time between April 2010 and March 2011.

"Throughout the course of this past weekend, September 17th – 20th, the Paris Game Festival took place over on the continent, showcasing some of the best games of this year and the hopefuls for 2010. Big name publishers such as Microsoft, Sony, Activision, Electronic Arts, Nintendo and Square Enix were joined by a raft of development studios and accessory manufacturers, each attempting to wow their audience with their latest and greatest releases."

"As the grand opening of this year’s London Games Festival, London MCM Expo was always going to be knee-deep in sweet gaming goodness, giving visitors hands-on experience with upcoming epic titles such as Bandai Namco’s Tekken 6, Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed II and Monster Hunter Tri from Capcom. Now three more top developers give you a sneak peek at what they’ve got planned for October’s Expo."

"Monster Hunter developer Capcom is taking cheating seriously. Very seriously. That, or it's automatic responses might need a-fixin'.

The below image reads:

The year 9999 might be a long time, but it's not "never". Never is a long time. 9999? A blink in the space-time continuum."

"London MCM Expo is set to provide the grand opening for this year’s London Games Festival, the capital’s celebration of the best in videogame culture. Held at Excel on 24th-25th October, the Expo will be a gamers’ feast, with top developers from across the globe giving visitors hands-on experience with the hottest new games as well as sneak peeks at their latest projects – often months in advance of their official release."

"Japanese sales of the Wii for the week ended August 2 were 95,357, up from about 24,000 units the week prior. Capcom's Monster Hunter franchise is hugely popular in Japan, and previously appeared on PlayStation 2 and PSP. Monster Hunter 3 is the first time the franchise has come to a Nintendo console, and Nintendo appears to be reaping the benefits."

Electronic Theatre reports on the announcement from Capcom that Monster Hunter Tri will be released on Wii in North America and Europe early next year.

Today, the much anticipated Wii title Monster Hunter 3 hit the stores, and Famitsu dispatched staff to cover the various launches around Japan. This report had them at the Yodobashi Camera store in the electric town Akihabara, where a line of around 500 strong formed inside the store ready to purchase the newest game in one of Japan's more popular series.

Releasing alongside Monster Hunter 3 today also was the new Classic Controller Pro, and the Wii Kuro, a black-colored version of Ninten...

"It's no joke that Monster Hunter is ridiculously huge in Japan. With Monster Hunter Tri releasing this Saturday in Japan, it's showing no signs of slowing down. In fact, the initial Japanese shipment of Monster Hunter Tri has surpassed 1 million units!"

It's been known that Monster Hunter 3's online service will be running on a pay-to-play model. However, with the game coming out shortly in Japan, Capcom has confirmed the pricing for Japanese gamers to play online. Each copy of the game will come with a 20 day free trial. After that you'll need to throw down some cash to continue playing. However, as the article notes, things could turn out differently for the North American version.

"Have you seen the new Monster Hunter 3 trailer for the Nintendo Wii? Well, you better. "Even from the briefest playtest of the first Wii release in the series, it’s easy to acknowledge that Monster Hunter 3 won’t charm the sceptics. Extensive loading delays reveal much of the same mechanics seen in previous games. However, what Monster Hunter 3 does do well, it does exceedingly so. Staggeringly detailed horizons coupled with a more active environment put Capcom in the top tier of Wii development, drawing more from the system than has yet been seen in a finished release whilst st..."

Monster Hunter 3 seemed like such an oddity when it was announced exclusively for the Wii. Previous games had always been on Playstation consoles, and the odd silence afterwards didn't exactly help either. However it appears Capcom are still on the fence on whether to release it on other platforms or not, a representative apparently telling a gaming magazine that Monster Hunter 3’s Wii-exclusivity is not yet final.

"Few non-believers will be swayed by the basics of Monster Hunter 3. This is a straight series installment that concentrates on the core experience while playing around with some of the Wii hardware's possibilities. Most notably, it's quite beautiful. Capcom may have leaped to the forefront of Wii development if the long draw distances and lighting are anything to go by, despite the company's insistence that the demo featured incomplete visuals."

In the recent Famitsu issue here are the top 20 games most wanted from Japan's biggest games magazine. It's a really interesting list as what dominates the list in being No.1 is Dragon Quest IX for the Nintendo DS and then followed by Final Fantasy XIII which was at No.1.
