Bright Hub presents the final entry in the Top 15 Canceled Games series with the top three picks. Check out the titles that left us completely disappointed after we discovered they had been canceled. (Part 5)

The Mother series is known for its cast of crazy enemies that range from hippies to old ladies to possessed paintings. Earthbound featured what can only be considered the weirdest collection of foes in the entire series. What enemies from the second game in the Mother series should Mother 4 bring back?

The fan-made game Mother 4 may have a long way to go, but we can still speculate and formulate ideas about it. What gameplay features would you like to see in Mother 4? Pop culture references? Maybe bring back some old enemies? BrightHub discusses three features that should be implemented into Mother 4.

Fans of the cult classic SNES title Earthbound have been foaming at the mouth since hearing about Mother 4, a fan-made successor to Shigesato Itoi's series. What do we know about this fan-made endeavor thus far? And looking back on the Mother series as a whole, what can we expect from it?

"If you've played Persona 3 Portable, you may already know about our buddy Vincent, the two-fisted drinker who made a cameo at the happening Club Escapade. He'll be getting his own game in a saucy little action/horror title called Catherine. As a huge fan of Atlus, I can't wait for this game. The Persona team will be behind its development and series veteran Shoji Meguro will be handling the music. Due out in Japan this winter, the game has sadly yet to have been announced for other markets. ..."

One man's list of the top 25 games of the 2000s concludes with a multitude of iconic sports games and a surprising title at number one. Standing on top of the list is a title that most want to play, but may never get the chance. Check out the full list and the entire compilation inside!

"Last time I collected NeoGAF’s great MS Paint renditions of video games, it was for a years worth. Someone decided to start the thread early, which is fine with me as a lot of great work from Junior Members of the board are now able to participate, along with some classic pieces from older members. Below are just my favorite picks, enjoy guessing which games they are from, and make sure to check the original thread which is still active on NeoGAF."

"Apparently, a new type of game and entertainment service (playable on PC and mobile phone) called “Roid” is planned to be released in Japan. The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu talks briefly about it, and the screenshot it includes is certainly eye-popping.

The article doesn’t say anything about the screenshot in particular, except asking, “Could this be THAT RPG?!” and that really big-title names are scheduled to be released on it. It’s not clear if this screenshot is just concept art or w..."

"There´s been a lot of talk in recent days about Japanese game development having lost its edge in the face of the West´s forward momentum. Balderdash, we say! Partially because "balderdash" is a criminally underused term. But it also has a lot to do with the fact that plenty of folks are still importing their games. This is great for those of us with region-free consoles who can understand and read Japanese. Unfortunately that´s a rather small number, relatively speaking."

"

That’s right, folks, it is time for the second ever Starmen.Net video contest; The Funky Monkey Dance Contest! The guidelines are simple, all you have to do is record a video of yourself doing either the Wess dance or the Salsa dance from MOTHER 3. Or, you can do both!"

Mother 3 (aka Earthbound 2) is yet another example of a great foreign title (specifically another great Japanese game) that never saw a US release or translation. Long sought after as one of the holy grail of games, Reid Young (as has been reported here) has just completed a (superb, I can honestly say being fluent myself) translation of Mother 3 and sits down to talk with us a little about the effort.

To compliment the recent English patch release the good people over at Starmen.net and Fangamer are coming out with a strategy guide handbook for the game.

They are currently taking preorders for the first printing. For preording you also get a minted Courage Badge Keychain and early access to the chapters.

The book weighs in at a hefty ~200 pages. The art team behind the handbook have also done clay models of the characters within the game and in a similar fashion to the Earthbound gui...

"After more than 13 years of waiting, the sequel to EarthBound is now in English! I hope fans of the series, new and old, will find MOTHER 3 to be just as unique and interesting as its predecessors. We tried our very best to make a worthy translation, and I think we came close to hitting that mark. With any luck, the translation will seem just as "strange, funny, and heartrending" as the original Japanese version.

MOTHER 3 is filled with secrets and rarities. Characters say new things after..."

"The patch will be out at the end of this week.

Testing’s pretty much over now. Some bugs did turn up over the last few days, but they were all minor and quickly remedied. Some really hard-to-spot typos were also found and fixed.

The program patchers are now nearly finished. There’ll be one for Macs, Windows, and Linux. We designed them to be extremely easy to use, since people had lots of trouble with the old menu patch. The Linux version was compiled under Ubuntu, I don’t know if it’ll..."

"We will be streaming a feed live on our website of us playing Mother 1,2,&3 from August 28 at 4pm till August 30 at 11 pm (55 hours straight!). We will feature chat along with video to create an interactive event. Our main goal will be to encourage phone calls to Nintendo of America (NOA) requesting Earthbound to be brought to the U.s in some way shape or form."
