Electronic Arts has a big sale on racing game DLC. Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, Need for Speed Shift, Burnout Paradise, Need for Speed Undercover, and more all have DLC available at a reduced price. GamerGaia has the lowdown on Electronic Arts' hot summer sale.
Everyone knows that racing game fanatics love tearing up the road with the vehicles we use in game. Not only do we want to win at whatever game mode it is, we want to look cool doing it. What better way then to see these moments on the replay after a said race right? Well the past couple of years we've seen a huge drought in any sort of replay function in some of our favorite racing franchises or new ones. What's the cause of such an absence? and are racing replays gone for good?
"Electronic Arts Inc. has announced today that the Need for Speed franchise has surpassed 100M units sold life to date. The newest release, Need for Speed SHIFT, pushes the franchise over the 100M mark, making it the best-selling racing brand in the gaming world."
"Let's look at the stats:
* 1,000 employees without jobs (bout 10% of EA's global workforce)
* $120 mil in company savings
* Restructuring charges of $55 - 65 mil
EA has yet to name the other eight studios it will be shutting down, but it did announce that it will be relocating some employees and franchises to offices in Burnaby, British Columbia."
Another week has passed, which means it's time for some Australian game sales!
Mario Kart Wii has snatched the lead from the Wii Fit game, the Wii Play bundle is still selling steadily in third, followed by the oh-so-popular Super Smash Bros. Brawl and SingStar Amped.
Most of the games in the overall sales list are either the from the Wii or the DS. With all the success Nintendo has been having lately, I'm not surprised. To check out some console-specific sales, hit the source.

"Across the pond, consumers prefer racing and soccer games to blockbuster action, adventure and first-person shooter games that are the staple of the U.S. diet. Indeed, Europeans view such games as "evil," says Cevat Yerli, chief executive of Crytek, a German game developer that specializes in first-person shooters."
"In a presentation to industry analysts today, EA Games president Frank Gibeau revealed that the two series would "see extension" in the publisher's fiscal year 2009, which runs from this April through March of 2009. Gibeau didn't specify whether the extensions would come in the form of proper sequels, side products (such as Burnout Legends and Burnout Dominator), or some other form.
In contrast to Burnout, Skate is a relatively new property. The series debuted last September as part of EA..."

Looks like EA has put the final nail on the coffin of the phrase "Need For Speed = Street Racing". With the PSP version of NFS about to be released, EA has admitted that ProStreet is a simulator type racing game. Not that that's a bad thing though.
The PSP version is to come with some exclusive features when it arrives in stores on the 18th of February. Those features, currently, are Driver Intuition, Driver Personas, and Speed Mode.
Need For Speed. Regarded as one of the top racing game franchises ever made. The question is, is that fact true any more? NFS fans everywhere were greedily awaiting NFS : ProStreet. But did EA satisfy their hunger? I think not. I only hope that they make up for it with the PSP version which is having a release date of Feb 2008.
"Electronic Arts announced today that Need for Speed ProStreet, the latest version of the blockbuster franchise, will hit stores in North America on October 31 and across Europe on November 1, 2007. In Need for Speed ProStreet, you have to build the ultimate battle machine, take it to multi-disciplinary showdowns and pit your skills and reputation against the worlds best street racers. This is your chance to prove that you have what it takes to be crowned the next street king."
"Are you the kind of individual who revels in attaching flame-licked rear boot spoilers and neon green exhaust tips to your 1.2 litre Ford Fiesta?
Then youll probably want to avert your towards GamerSquad, where you'll find the latest screens of Need for Speed ProStreet, the newest entry in EAs popular street-racing series."
"Here's a little something for all NFS buffs. Need for Speed ProStreet will feature a car list spanning "over 40 years of the automotive spectrum." EA is already sharing the first list of cars, destined to appear in Need for Speed ProStreet:
Nissan GT-R PROTO
1970 Plymouth® Hemi® Cuda
1995 Mazda RX-7
1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse
2006 Audi S4 1986 Toyota Corolla
GTS AE86
2006 Mitsubishi Lancer EVOLUTION IX MR-edition
2006 Volkswagen Golf GTI
2008 BMW M3"
"What's a street racing movie or game without the babes? Fortunately, NFS: ProStreet won't be holding back on us. Krystal Forscutt, former Big Brother contestant and currently sizzling model, will be waving arms as a starting girl in the game.
She seems pretty excited about being one of the girls that all NFS fans around the world would see. Now joining the ranks of other celebrities immortalized in video games, our girl is the first Aussie to ever appear on an EA game.
Forscutt admits t..."
Assuming you do in fact possess a need for speed, it's worth knowing that Electronic Arts has announced the new Need for Speed ProStreet. Billed as a "new direction" for the series, ProStreet promises greater performance and customization, some of which can occur outside of your control. ProStreet will also support online multiplayer (depending on the platform?), and is scheduled for release on the PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PS3, Wii as well as the DS and PSP platforms this Fall.
