"The most obvious thing to note is that the Xbox 360 game is capable of throwing far more enemies at you, though there can be a performance penalty. Ninja Gaiden 2 revels in throwing seven or eight opponents at you at any given point (though it can go higher) while the PS3 game is more strictly limited to six or fewer in the same situations. The original 360 code doesn't hold back in the amount of cut-off limbs that pile up, while on PS3 those same appendages disappear almost instantly. Left-b..."

"This morning, it appears that Microsoft have launched a minor, and rather bizarre, marketing campaign. Directly highlighting the rivalry for those in-the-know and referring to an Xbox 360 release that’s now regularly available at a discounted price, it appears Microsoft still have faith in the original release of Ninja Gaiden II."

"Games should be fun.

But sometimes they get to a point where the challenge simply becomes beyond frustrating and makes you feel like an incompetent, so you don’t finish. Sometimes maybe it is your lack of skill, but other times it is just poor game design.

Or maybe the game becomes so boring that it becomes too frustrating to even bother finishing. After all, every second is a second lost of your life you’ll never get back, and who wants to be stuck playing a game that’s no longer fun..."

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, an upgraded port of the original is set to hit the PS3 this fall, and while I can't discern what is what new and what is not, this trailer looks pretty kickass. Ryu, Momiji and Ayane all take down bad guys in a combination of cutscenes and gameplay, and even team appear to be present.

Ninja Gaiden 2 up until recently was exclusive to the 360, a contract between Tecmo and Microsoft cementing this. So how exactly did the game still end up heading towards the PS3? According to Gamer.Blorge the game isn't technically the same game, but rather reworked to the Sigma engine, technically classifying it as a remake, rather than just a port. ISWYDT

After just been recently revealed to be coming to the Playstation 3, the first images of Ninja Gaiden 2 have been revealed. Ninja Gaiden 2 was originally an Xbox 360 exclusive but has made its way to the PS3. I cannot wait for the comparison pictures to start popping up.

Follow the link to view all the screenshots.

Perhaps this shouldn't come as much a surprise as the title makes it out to be. Sigma after all, a port of the first game made its way to PS3. Still its certainly out the blue, a recent scan of a Japanese mag depicting a upgraded version of Ninja Gaiden 2 is to hit the PS3. According to the translation available at the alternative source it will come complete with new bosses, weapons and playable characters.

"Let’s not forget about the console wars! There are sale charts, there are fanboys slamming other fanboys’ data, there are all sorts of ways to “decide” the winner of the console wars… One of them is, of course, checking the exclusive games and that’s exactly what we’re planning to do now. So, the battle is on: PS3 vs. Xbox 360 vs. Wii – which console has the best exclusives?"

Tecmo held a press conference in Tokyo yesterday that detailed some of the upcoming titles for the publisher. Some of these titles will also be shown at the Tokyo Game Show.

New Tecmo president Yasuharu Kakihara begun the conference by announcing that the Itagaki-less Team Ninja, now headed by Jin Hasegawa, is currently working on three new "worldwide market" action titles that will be unveiled at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show.

At the press conference they also showcased three titles: W...

"Microsoft Game Studios and Tecmo jointly announced today that Ryu Hayabusa’s latest hour, Ninja Gaiden II, has sold over one million copies worldwide in a span of just a little over two months. Certainly, that figure doesn’t quite compare to the sales of bigger titles this year, like Call of Duty 4 or Metal Gear Solid 4, but it is nothing to scoff at either.

Question now is, with Itagaki gone, will Tecmo revisit the Ninja Gaiden franchise in the future? It’s a huge, almost guaranteed money..."

Yahtzee does one of his trademark hysterical reviews of Ninja Gaiden II. We have learned to expect nothing but sheer brilliance from Yahtzee, and this review certainly doesn't disappoint.

After the mission mode DLC for Ninja Gaiden II went up, Microsoft had to take it down because there were tons of bugs with it, some of which included problems with the achievements and freezing issues. Microsoft have claimed that they have fixed this problem, but they said they will keep testing the content over the weekend and are expected to place the content back on Monday. The DLC costs 800 Microsoft Points, which is $10.

Ninja Gaiden fans naturally fell into a pit of despair on hearing the news of creator Itagaki-san's falling out with parent company Tecmo, but it ain't over til it's over (one would think): a ton of DLC is up for grabs now in the Marketplace for Ninja Gaiden II. For 800 points you get 25 new missions, Karma Attack missions, Survival missions, and 30 secret-revealing videos.

The May 2008 NPD numbers have been recently released, and by the looks of it, the numbers overall were below people's expectations, with hardware and software numbers decreasing since last month. "Remember how your fingers used to hurt back in 2004? Remember how many times you’ve shouted at your TV because Murai was too hard to beat? Remember Rachel? Four years later, Tomonobu Itagaki, now ex-executive producer at Team Ninja, strikes back once more with Ninja Gaiden II, the highly anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed 2004 Ninja Gaiden for the original Xbox."

"Ninja Gaiden II has already stormed retail stores worldwide, swiftly followed by Itakagi’s resignation from Tecmo, along with a playable demo hitting the Marketplace in Europe earlier on in the week. Now, a few days later, the demo has at last been made available on the XBLM in North America. Oh well, better late than never…"

"With the news of his recent departure and the release of his final swan-song to the Ninja Gaiden series, Tomonobu Itagaki has had an amazing career.

We've already tackled the history of Ninja Gaiden in our previous retrospective, A History of Violence, but this time we're going back to look at one of Ryu's most influential allies.

In this special feature we look back at the history of the man and how he helped re-shape Tecmo in the early 90s to the company they are today. Join us as w..."

"I'll say this for Ninja Gaiden II -- it's got great combat.

Slicing up ninjas, demons and dinosaurs-on-fire in this new Xbox 360 game is a demanding and rewarding task. Both you and your enemies are fast and furious. Your ninjutsu is powerful, but you're constantly challenged to use it wisely. The gruesome decapitations and dismemberments, complete with body parts that lie around after you finish your opponents off, are intense.

The problem is, the game's designers seem to have focused ..."

Tecmo sent Wired.com a email saying that Team Ninja is intact after Itagaki's departure and already have several new projects going on. But it looks like Itagaki leaving is already hurting Tecmo. It'll be interesting to see what Tecmo does in the future.

With the release of Ninja Gaiden II, it seems that gamers are already off playing the game and discovering the wonders that the developers have added to the game. One of these wonders however is a giant "XBOX" X. Go to the source to view the video of how to get to the place where you can see this Easter Egg, and even a text-description to accompany it.

Given the review by IGN giving Ninja Gaiden II for the XBOX360 8.7/10, it's certainly not a shock to anyone to hear that it got a fairly similar score from CheatCC (4.2/5).

With the game being released yesterday, the review can help you to make your mind up as to whether or not you want to get the game, however as the review shows, if your a Ninja Gaiden fan, then you'd be a fool to miss out and not get this game.

Tecmo has responoded to Itagaki, who quit Tecmo yesterday because of unpaid bonuses. Tecmo denies not paying Itagaki's bonuses. Tecmo says they have a bonus system in place and that they have paid Itagaki's bonuses every year. Tecmo claims the bonus that Itagaki is referring to is something from a past management. They have also accused Itagaki of distortions because of the damage that was sought out against CEO Yoshimi Yasuda.

If you haven't heard, Tomonobu Itagaki quit Tecmo last night because they were not paying him his bonuses. Microsoft has now responded to the whole situation: "Tomonobu Itagaki has decided to leave TECMO and Team NINJA to pursue other opportunities. We thank Tomonobu Itagaki for the many years he has supported Xbox as he has contributed immensely to the success of the videogame industry as a whole."

Controversial Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive creator Tomonobu Itagaki will soon be leaving Tecmo and suing them for 148 million yen (approx $1.4 million) worth of unpaid bonuses.
After president Yoshimi Yasuda told Itagaki that: if he was unsatisfied with the unpaid bonuses he should either leave or sue the company, Itagaki took him up on both offers.

Itagaki was greatly apologetic towards his fans, and disappointed that he wouldn't be able to take charge of Dead or Alive 5.

Love him or hate him, Ninja Gaiden creator Tomonobu Itagaki is a man who will always speak his mind.
Today he talked about what it was like working with Microsoft and the XBox 360, and why he thinks the console isn't doing too well in Japan.

Clive Thompson of Wired was playing Ninja Gaiden II when he realized that after a period of time, the dead bodies didn't disappear. In all Ninja Gaiden games, the bodies disappear into the thin after you have dealt with them. Why? Well, if you kill all those people, you'll obviously be wading in dead bodies. A thought occurred to Thompson. What happens to all those people you've killed? Gaming heaven perhaps?

"Tomorrow morning at 2 AM Pacific Standard Time Microsoft will be releasing a Ninja Gaiden II demo, the same release that the Japanese audience got last week, but it will now be available to every region in the world except Germany. Xbox Live junkies should keep an eye out into the wee hours of the night."

It's no contest to figure out what the major release this week is: Team Ninja's Ninja Gaiden II for the Xbox 360. Say what you will about the love-him-or-hate-him about the studio head Tomobobu Itagaki, there are many out there waiting for this game.

However, that doesn't mean that there aren't any other good or notable games available; for DS owners, the Atlus USA-published Summon Night: Twin Age makes its way to US shores. Those looking for a racer can check out the Codemasters develop...

"Microsoft today released two new trailers for Ninja Gaiden 2, the sequel to Ninja Gaiden developed by Team NINJA and scheduled to be available on June 6th, exclusively for Xbox 360. The game follows the story of Ryu Hayabusa, a ninja hero who is on a quest to avenge his clan and eventually prevent the destruction of the human race."

"It seem 1120 for horizontal but need confirmation, there are not good screenshot for horizontal check. for vertical 585 it's relatively sure and reliable
1120x585 would be another type of anamorphic resolution, opposed to the other classic anamorphic 1024x600 use in some X360 (COD4, PGR3, Oblivion, TR...)
but there are little more pixel in 1120x585 than in 1024x600 and 1120x585 is the better use of the EDRAM space that i have seen. it's 9.998MiB, just a 2KiB residue unused. maybe it explain..."

The demo for Ninja Gaiden II has already hit Japan Xbox Live, but there hasn't been any word when other regions will receive the demo. After some questions were sent to Microsoft about the delay, they said the demo will hit other regions as next week ends. Microsoft didn't clarify the delay of the demo, but there is some speculation that Microsoft is paying special attention to Japan in order to boost sales there.

"You may have noticed we have not yet posted our review of Team Ninja's Ninja Gaiden 2. We just wanted to fill you in on why. There were a couple of issues with the review build discs, specifically with the load times and the framerate. We have been told that these issues have been resolved in the retail version of the game. Therefore, we have decided to hold off on posting our review article and score until we are able to get our hands on a retail build of Ninja Gaiden 2 in order to verify this."

IGN has just reviewed Ninja Gaiden II and gave it a pretty nice score of 8.7/10, stating main points that it has a bad storyline, great graphics, the soundtrack goes very well if the gameplay, the camera could be improved and that the game would be best tried on harder difficulties, to give you more of a challenge and thus, make it more appealing and last longer. Read the full article at the source.

Matt Peckham writes that the new game Ninja Gaiden II has some camera troubles. He wishes that the game would stick the camera high up with a wide camera lens. He also says that a freeform camera works well, but it runs into other problems, such as directorial responsibility. On the positive side, he mentions that the camera angles are better here than in the original Xbox game. Go to the source to read more.

"The story plays out across 14 beautifully rendered levels in different locations around the world, taking full advantage of the power on offer in the Xbox. The scenery at times is breathtaking, but this being a fighting game, there is little time to admire the background as the enemies come thick and fast."

For all you people who are unfamiliar with Tomonobu Itagaki, he's the guy in charge of the Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden series. He is also a man well known for his big ego and blunt, to-the-point (and sometimes controversial) attitude regarding 'rival' games and their companies.

At a recent press event, Itagaki talked about his newest game Ninja Gaiden II ... and how he thinks it compares to Devil May Cry 4.

Head designer over at Team Ninja Tomonobu Itagaki said in a CVG interview, when speaking about the Ninja Gaiden titles, the 'violence issue' with video games is really not what some make it out to be:

"I believe we're following morality as well in only showing violence between combatants. I think the 'violence issue' is something that is within each individual who plays the game."

Itagaki also praised Grand Theft Auto IV.

In what is surely a crushing blow to fans the creator of the Ninja Gaiden franchise Tomonobu Itagaki has just stated in a interview with gaming website Kotaku that he has no plans of creating any more Ninja Gaiden games and that "I hope fans treat this as a swan song for the franchise." So enjoy Ninja Gaiden 2, because it looks like after this that Ryu is hanging up his katana for good.

A few new details about Ninja Gaiden II have been released.

  • Each of the eight weapons in the game have been enhanced with killer moves that will get stronger as you level up the weapon.

  • Shurikens have been updated. One throw of these projectiles will now include five star-shaped blades and not four.

  • The Art of the Fire Wheels has been now call Art of the Pheonix Fire, which circles around Ryu and is with him for longer, and reach out further then before.

  • I imagine most of you saw this coming. At least I know I did. :D

Another ridiculously busty girl in the Ninja Gaiden world.

...and surely hentai waiting to happen.

Tecmo releaes another batch of Ninja Gaiden II screenshots showing off a nice, stormy battle. I must say it does look like a good game, let's hope it is as good as the first one, if not better! The game will be released on June 3rd, 2008 in the States, and June 6th, 2008 in Europe.

As was previously reported, Ninja Gaiden II is set for release in North America on June 3rd, 2008. But what about our loyal European fans? All they knew is that it would come out "sometime in June" for them, which could be June 30th, 2008. However, the release date for Europe has finally been announced, and the game is set for launch in Europe on June 6th, 2008. So, if you're in Europe and you wanted to preorder it but didn't because of an unknown release date, now's your chance to go out and...

The official website of Ninja Gaiden II has been updated with the confirmed release date of the game. Currently it will be released on the 3rd June 2008. This release date is only for America and European release date is yet to be confirmed.

Ninja Gaiden II is a game developed exclusively for the Xbox 360 by Team Ninja. Guide Ryu Hayabusa is on a mission of vengeance for the killing of his clan and to disallow destruction to the human race.

"Ninja Gaiden II is coming out June 3rd! It was officially announced moments ago during Microsoft’s Keynote at the Game Developer’s Conference (GDC). Even cooler, you can save films of your gameplay and upload them to Xbox Live. Good to see this lovely feature from Halo 3 gaining popularity!"

"Well, it's not like the first Ninja Gaiden II screens were exactly pussyfooting around. Neither are these. These are grody, too! (This coming from someone who grew up watching Fulci and Argento giallo flicks.) Tecmo's Itagaki, above, and his Team Ninja really have stepped up the gore for the Xbox 360 exclusive Gaiden sequel. Hit the jump for screenies of Ryu slicing and dicing. If digital meat makes you squeamish, you might wanna sit this round out."

Team Ninja's Ninja Gaiden 2 is shaping up to be one bloody sequel, and that's a good thing. What Team Ninja head honcho Tomonobu Itagaki calls the best action game in the world sure looks great, as we see in this brief but sweet video.

We're talking Ninja Gaiden, so you should expect crazy gameplay footage not suitable for the weak hearted. This time, our favorite ninja in black shows off his claw weapon and displays a ferocious series of attacks at high speed to skewer unfortunate victims...

Will Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden II for the Xbox 360 be hit hard with an Adults Only rating? Maybe not, but at the moment, it looks like it very well could. So why does it have to be so violent and go as far as having Hero Ryu Hayabusa, the main character in the game, repeatedly cut enemies in half and watch blood spew out? Well, Yoshifuru Okamoto, an assistant producer at Tecmo's Team Ninja says that entertainment requires two things. Sexual elements and violence.
No, they don't want to influence...
