"SUDA51 now has a long list of global releases to his name, each of which has received a mixed critical response and performance at retail. Perhaps part of his trademark, along with the regular appearance of lucha libre themes and references to anarchistic music works, the likes of Flower, Sun, Rain, Michigan: Report From Hell, Contact, Killer 7 and, of course, No More Heroes have all received a great deal of attention at launch, and each successive title will only benefit from this reputation..."

"SUDA51 admirably believes that all his previous works are pertinent to his current successes. When discussing his previous titles, and drawing particular attention to his mid-2000’s releases Killer7 and Michigan: Report From Hell, SUDA51 was visibly pleased with the recognition these works had earned him."

Brian Rowe has delivered several hints and tips about how to be successful in combat in No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle for the Nintendo Wii such as parrying and avoiding death.

"When No More Heroes was first released on the Wii in early 2008, no one expected it to be a brilliant title, especially since creator Suda51's earlier project was Killer 7, a claustrophobic yet captivating game that left a lot of gamers cold. Once the dust settled, No More Heroes proved to be not only one of the best action games on the Wii, but also one of the best games of the year due to its insane mix of action, self-aware humor, sex, and lots of bloody violence. So it's no surprise that ..."

"In No More Heroes 2, you play as Travis Touchdown, an amateur assassin and sniveling superdouche whose bloodlust is matched only by his obsessive interest in videogames, anime and professional wrestling. He's vulgar, sexist and easily provoked - in fact, he has few, if any redeeming qualities. So it may come as a surprise that his character is also pretty likable. Perhaps it's his barely contained juvenile enthusiasm, or the sheer discrepancy between his high opinion of himself and the way ot..."

"The story follows Travis Touchdown who now finds himself the 51st ranked assassin - placed at the bottom of the UAA (United Assassins Association) table. He has to fight his way back to the top, while seeking revenge for the murder of his best friend. Legendary developer Suda 51 is naming No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle the game he's always wanted to make - playing on the original's strengths - complete with smart storyline, refined combat (utilising two beam katanas) and characters, and..."

Travis Touchdown is back. Hack and slash your way to the top, revenge is your motivation, breast are your distraction. Blood, sex and everything violent under the sun finds a place in No More Heroes 2 and hopefully a place in your gaming library.

Destructoid has added No More Heroes' Travis Touchdown to their Badass of the Month Club. After being overlooked and underrated for far too long, as some fans might say, he's finally getting his due respect with the release of his second game. Travis now stands among such recently added badass characters as Dead Rising's Frank West and Guilty Gear XX's I-No.

Catchy No More Heroes 2 soundtrack features famed Japanese vocaloid Hatsune Miku. The song in question is the theme to the touhou-esque, mini-game Bizarre Jelly 5.

With No More Heroes, you can be an otaku too!

"So with so many superb titles releasing so soon after Christmas, it was literally a shootout to win our prestigious Game of the Month award that is handed out, of course, every month of the year. After much deliberation, our winner is…"

"In light of some decisions recently made by third party developers, I believe I have some ideas as to why it's hard to sell hardcore third-party titles on the Wii.

So what do you do? The Wii doesn't have all the technical features of the 360 or the PS3. So how can a third party make a Wii hardcore title that can compete with 360 and PS3 hardcore titles? EA actually had a pretty good idea with Dead Space: Extraction. HD console owners who like Dead Space would be interested. Plus, there ar..."

"To save your game in the Wii-exclusive No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle one must direct his or her character—a foul-mouthed punk named Travis Touchdown—into a bathroom where he peels off his pants, sits on a toilet, and empties his bowels.

This is just one of countless scenes intended to shock and amuse players in Ubisoft’s new revenge-driven actioner, a game that features scores of shameless crotch, boob, and butt shots and a relentless flow of crass sexual dialogue."

""It’s apparent that Ubisoft and Grasshopper were aiming for a strange title, but, wow, No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle goes above and beyond the unusual and blazes a trail for future titles that can explore the realms of the abnormal.""

"Desperate Struggle is so unpredictable it’s like the punch line to a parody of Japanese pop culture. Frantic and all over the map, it somehow makes it all work and gives Wii owners an amazing game for an older audience – a rare treat to find on Nintendo’s console."

January was a big month for the video games industry with many high-profile releases across all platforms. So which games proved to the best so far in 2010?

"No More Heroes 2 has been released about 2 years after the original made a scene back in 2008, the first entry in the series had gotten a lot of attention due to it’s mature content on the family friendly Nintendo console. No More Heroes barely had any limits as it had tons of blood, crude humor, and sexual scenes. Although the game had a lot of style it had some technical issues which kept it from reaching it’s potential but the game still received plenty of awards and sparked a followin..."

"This generation has seen its fair share of epic titles, captivating narratives and intense action -- but not very many iconic, unique, or influential game characters in comparison to previous generations. Luckily though, there are a few of these figures in the current generation."

"I liked No More Heroes, but I didn't love it. I do love developer Grasshopper Manufacture, though, so I always expect something promising from them, even if it lets me down. Sure, NMH took something as simple as jerking the Wii remote in one direction and made a competent, if not entirely satisfying, action game, but there were lots of weaknesses too, causing me to wonder why Wii fans were so quick to put it on a pedestal. Regardless, it struck a nerve, and became a go-to recommendation. With..."

"With 2008’s No More Heroes, a critically acclaimed game that was a modest worldwide hit, Japanese developer Grasshopper Manufacture finally hit paydirt. Now, its Executive Director, Suda 51, gets to realize his dream of a sequel with Desperate Struggle, one of the most cheerful and funny blood-spattering games I’ve played in some time.

Desperate Struggle, like its predecessor, is a linear brawler in which you fight through waves of thugs to reach a boss who possesses some unique abili..."

"It’s hard to pin down exactly what makes No More Heroes so damned appealing. The combat’s fairly simple and repetitive, the protagonist’s a filthy, selfish idiot who’s always on the toilet, and the plot concerns an association for assassins who apparently have nothing better to do than constantly duel each other to see who’s best. By all rights it should be terrible, but its unique combination of slick cartoon visuals, clever controls, deadpan goofiness, teasing sexuality and over-t..."

"Mass Effect 2 isn't the only sequel in stores today. Travis Touchdown, the stylish hitman with a lightsaber-style weapon at his side and a whole bunch of attitude, returns in No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle for the Wii. Everything that made the original a hit returns, and several improvements make it a more entertaining game than we expected. Plus, you still get to save while sitting on a toilet. (Yes!)"

"Revisiting the deranged world of No More Heroes conjures mixed recollections. It's kind of like reconnecting with an ex that you harbor equal parts fond and sordid memories of, and realizing your relationship is still phenomenally real-- especially now that you're barely expecting it. She changed her look, caught you off-guard with a new wardrobe, and is too busy cutting right to the chase to worry about your last indelibly rocky affair. Yes, the playful mistress has returned to your blinking..."

"As of this writing, we’re already three weeks into 2010. The “new” year is already practically ancient, and pretty soon we’ll have run out of time to make wild, erratic, entirely factual predictions about things that will happen over the next 11 months. So with January nearly over, we’re going for the jugular and answering the question that’s on everyone’s mind: between the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and PC, which gaming platform will claim victory by the end of this year.

..."

Considering it was two years since Travis Touchdown's last rampage, what exactly does a video game character do in his spare time? Apparently surf the net all day, troll for fanboys, play Wii, and take dumps. Ironically enough, you do about half this stuff in the actual game.

2010 may be the best year yet on the Nintendo Wii thanks to plenty of high-profile exclusive games in addition to several lesser known Wii-only titles slated in the coming months.

"Yoshiro Kimura on his games reaching cult status:

I’d really really like – just one time – to know the feeling that you get when you release a game and it sells like mad right away. But, the games that I make don’t do that. They just kind of simmer over time – just sell a little bit at a time. But there’s really nothing that I can do about that. However, I’m quite pleased that my games often get a cult following. I’ve played the role of both producer and director, and as a ..."

"Rising Star Games has announced the appointment of a new columnist at their Hoshi Club – the online destination for videogame fans to find out the latest details on Rising Star Games’ videogame releases and insight into Japanese culture. Following the signing of ex-Edge deputy editor, David McCarthy, Alex Sim-Wise shall have her own personal space to write about videogames, Japanese culture and pretty much anything she wishes."

Many expect 2010 to be one of the biggest years ever for the gaming industry. It is off to a strong start with several big video games slated for January.

"Rising Star Games have become synonymous with those quintessentially Japanese videogame treats that otherwise may have never made their way to European shores. The sweet, inviting world of the classic Harvest Moon series and pleasing guilt involved in commanding your loyal (or perhaps, not so loyal) followers in Little King’s Story is regularly contrasted with the dark, grimy labyrinths of JU-ON: The Grudge or the under-appreciated Nintendo DS First-Person Shooter, Moon."

Fact, everyone likes Travis from No More Heroes 1 & 2... As you might have found out, Shinobu and Sir Henry Mother *bleep*er will be playable, adding to the lovable yet violent roster count to 3.

This new trailer showcases cutscenes and new Henry (Irish guy from the first) Gameplay Footage and well, shows you his moves.

As part of their weeklong special on Grasshopper Manufacture and Ubisoft's upcoming Wii action title No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, 1up interviewed NMH2's director and creative mastermind, Goichi Suda, known to all of the heathens as Suda 51.

Check out the source for the full interview, but here are some tidbits:

  • With Bayonetta and No More Heroes 2 both release in January in North America, Suda hopes that his and PlatinumGames' titles both sell well. And perhaps make January a mo...

1Up has a Weeklong exclusive for Grasshopper/Ubisoft's upcoming Wii over-the-top action title No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, kicking it off with a list of 7 things that you [probably] don't know about Suda's Wii title.

Here's a quick rundown of the list, but to get the full explanation/new information, you'll need to check out the source.
1. Shinobu is playable character #2
2. Something is up between Shinobu and Travis
3. Henry is playable character #3
4. It looks a lot better t...

"Here, you can see Suda the game director explains the combat system in the game, and that by showing how you can slice your enemies in half, vertically and much more. Also, he shows us how you can shape your katanas to more than one form and explains the benefits of doing it."

"Publisher Marvelous Entertainment has sent out "new" No More Heroes 2 screenshots. "New" because most of them showed up in a May issue of Japanese game mag Famitsu.

May is not new -- it's an entire season ago. But those blurry magazine scans are blurry. The worst thing about blurry magazine scans? They're blurry.

Have a better look at the dual beam katana action in No More Heroes 2. While hero Travis Touchdown carried a single beam katana in the first NMH, but carries a dual beam in th..."

According to series creator, Suda 51, the next No More Heroes game will not be on the Wii. Despite the Wii's hardware sales and customer base, Suda feels that he needs to expand his audience and reach out to other consoles in order to make his ambitions of NMH becoming into a bigger franchise come true. So even if NMH 2 sells decently, he seems to have made up his mind about not keeping the series on the Wii. Given Suda's thoughts on Natal, it seems quite obvious where the series could end up.

It is the opinion of Neoseeker writer Lydia Sung that Nintendo has in recent years fallen a bit off the wagon, so to speak. Okay, a lot.

Citing her experiences at E3 this year, some of the company's contradictory statements and actions, and support of the mature audience (or lack thereof), she divulges on how Nintendo has missed the mark in a lot of ways, and touches on how they can fix it.

Have a read if you feel so inclined!

Suda fans rejoice, as we get more information by way of the August issue of Nintendo Power, as the magazine has confirmed in talking with Suda that the 8th Rank UAA assassin from No More Heroes, Shinobu will be playable in the game's sequel. She will be faster than Travis, and will have the ability to jump.

Scans from the article also confirmed that Travis will indeed start at Rank 51 in this new UAA, and will have to fight through fifty bosses/assassins. Suda has also mentioned that the...

"This year’s E3 was a feast for the eyes, showing off some very impressive games for all three major home consoles. While the Microsoft and Sony E3 press conferences were stuffed full of gaming goodness, the Nintendo press conference seems to be left in the dust. If you actually look at what Nintendo has coming out for the “hardcore” you will realize they are doing a better job of tailoring towards that crowd that they have in the past. Don’t believe me? then feast your eyes on this am..."

Bit of news that slipped through the cracks: Ubisoft revealed earlier this week No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle will be appearing on Nintendo's Wii come early 2010.

"No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle is the eagerly awaited sequel to last year’s Wii exclusive release from Grasshopper Manufacture and Rising Star Games, No More Heroes. Filling the shoes of Travis Touchdown, a lowly nerd with a penchant for all things anime, Sci-Fi and videogame based, the player is dropped straight into the characteristically demented Santa Destroy, in an effort to climb the ladder all the way to the top spot in the United Assassins Association’s league of hit men."

The newest trailer for Suda 51's upcoming Wii action title No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle is now available, and Travis Touchdown is bringing the dual-wielding beam katanas into the fray ready for revenge.

No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle is expected to release in 2010.

After being in this week's issue of Weekly Famitsu, the first screenshots for Grasshopper Manufacture and Marvelous Entertainment's latest Suda 51 creation, No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle, have hit Famitsu's website.

Travis Touchdown is back sporting a dual-wielding fighting style, opening him up for more varied attacks. His wrestling moves from the first No More Heroes return, too, to give him more ways to wreck havoc on enemies. Also returning is our beloved Sylvia Christel who has...

The first scans from this week's issue of Weekly Famitsu for Suda 51 and Grasshopper Manufacturer's upcoming action title, No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, have hit the internet. The game marks the return of the one and only Travis Touchdown, now ready to do some dual wielding as he takes on the UAA once again. Pivotal character Sylvia Christel is also confirmed to be in the game. A new character, Nathan Copeland is also revealed.

Scans are courtesy of Wii @ Everyday.

"No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle has been confirmed to be at E3. In the latest IGN podcast, Matt Casamassina has confirmed that the sequel to No More Heroes will be at E3, this in response to a reader’s question. We couldn’t be more excited as this game was a very impressive, yet under-rated game. If you haven’t played the first, go out and buy it immediately. It was seen going for under $30 at many retailers."

""This has been a standout year for No More Heroes and Rising Star Games," said Martin Defries, Rising Star Games managing director. "We've had fantastic critical reception for NMH from the start; to be nominated in so many categories and place in the top ten in many polls proves how well a third party title can do on the Wii if you get it right. We're all really excited to see the next step up in NMH2!""

"Electronic Theatre has today received clarification of the finer details of the release of No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle. Firstly, Europe is the only territory which shall receive two separate retail products, and so it is Rising Star Games’ responsibility to relay such details. And that they did..."
