PDC World Championship Darts

"PDC World Championship Darts 2009 arrives in Europe today on Wii and Nintendo DS. With each version developed from the ground-up to use the unique features of its host system, and looking positively intuitive during Electronic Theatre’s earlier playtest, hopes have been high that Oxygen Games and Rebellion’s efforts can culminate into more than the typically half-baked third-party Wii releases."

Electronic Theatre reports that PDC World Championship Darts 2009 is shipping to retail, ready for it's European roll-out next Friday, on Wii and Nintendo DS.

"The NintendoDS version of PDC World Championship Darts 2009 available was clearly very close to completion, and the polishing showed in the commendable presentation throughout. Imitating its home console sister-title with a fully realised Career Mode, as well as Single-Card DS Download option, the NintendoDS release strikes the same balance between accurately recreating the sport for the sake of the fans and allowing others to ignore auxiliary concerns."

"Any preview of Rebellion’s Wii build would do the team a disservice should it not begin by explaining the game’s unique selling point: the translation of throwing a dart to the Wii Remote’s motion and pointer capabilities. Eschewing all previous attempts at bringing the sport to the console in favour of an entirely new throwing system, Rebellion’s effort builds upon the foundations established in the Bowling and Golf featured in Wii Sports"

"Due for release on May 29th, 2009, the two games have attracted attention not only from Electronic Theatre and a handful of other videogame publications, but also the likes of Sky Sports and the cheekily uninformative Daily Sport – the latter of which quite inevitably making an impact on the predominantly male attendees."

"Developed by Rebellion, bringing PDC World Championship Darts 2009 uses an entirely rebuilt throwing method on Wii. Phil "The Power" Taylor, who has been working with Rebellion and Oxygen to improve the throwing method, said "The throwing method is smooth, fluid and simple. Oxygen have really improved upon last year's version and it feels the same as throwing a real dart with the advantage being that I don't have to walk to the dart board to take out the arrows!""

Electronic Theatre delivers the news of a new forum launch at PDC World Championship Darts 2009's website in anticipation of the game's launch this quarter.

"To celebrate the beginning of the 2009 Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship, Oxygen Interactive are pleased to announce a partnership with award winning Developers Rebellion and Abdução to produce the forthcoming PDC World Championship Darts 2009."
