"Last week’s Electronic Theatre Sunday Special was the run down of Top Ten Videogame Heroes; featuring the protagonist you loved like Sam Fisher, Sonic the Hedgehog and Link. So to prove that the games industry isn’t just a man’s game, this week we focus on the Top Ten Videogame Heroines. Ten of the females that got you hot under the collar, and not in the Dead or Alive Paradise way, but stayed on track with the heroic mission which faced them have been chosen for this week’s feature article."

This past March was packed with many new blockbuster releases as well as lesser known but equally as great titles. So which games stood out the most for the month?
"We here at PlanetXbox360 are all very excited about some of the big upcoming Xbox 360 exclusive titles such as Splinter Cell: Conviction or Halo: Reach, but sometimes that hype overshadows great up and coming Xbox LIVE Arcade titles that should not be missed. This year will most likely be another stellar year for Microsoft’s micro gaming arcade service, starting with the company-wide Block Party event taking place this month. Whatever taste or genre of game you might favor, there is most like..."
"In addition to the success of 4J Studios’ conversion of Perfect Dark, Microsoft has published the titles leading the race for Xbox LIVE activity on both Xbox 360 and the original Xbox systems, as well as the top selling titles on the often overlooked Xbox LIVE Indie Games channel."
"Microsoft's driving mantra for 2010 seems to be quality over quantity. With only three major titles on tap for the Fall (and only two others in the Summer), the publisher looks to be putting all of its eggs in a Natal-shaped basket. But with Halo: Reach, Alan Wake and a Perfect Dark remake marked down on the calendar, no one can say that Microsoft's 2010 will be boring."
"Ever wondered what would happen if you mixed an intoxicated aussie bloke that spoke like Niko Bellic (GTA4) and made him think he was agent Smith from the Matrix? The answer is in this weeks episode of ThumbPad Season 3 Episode 4, so kick back grab a beer and take a listen to this jam packed ep full of gaming goodnes.....or should I say drunk group of gamers?"
""I have spent a lot of time with the game and it seems rather obvious that nostalgic memories are key to enjoying the game. It is not a terrible game, but when comparing it to games coming out nowadays – which fans will frown upon as unfair – Perfect Dark falls behind and feels far too dated.""
"When Perfect Dark debuted in 2000 for N64, everything about the game was drool-worthy, from the inclusion of multiplayer to cutting edge graphics. 10 years later, many gamers still speak fondly of Rare’s spiritual successor to GoldenEye 007. A prequel launched with the Xbox 360 in 2005, and nearly five years later, we’re seeing a restoration on Xbox LIVE Arcade."
"What could be one of the biggest/most hyped up XBLA releases has just hit the Marketplace! Perfect Dark XBLA is now available for only 800 MSP. PDXBLA has enhanced graphics, Xbox LIVE gameplay, and all the goodness you remember from the N64 version!"
"Perfect Dark isn’t a huge overhaul like other remakes on XBLA, but is still a solid and engaging title. FPS fans who missed out on the original would do well to check out this groundbreaking title, and hardcore fans should experience the game with the technical improvements."
Xbox Evolved showcases some original footage captured by Xbox Evolved of the classic remake of Perfect Dark from N64. The remastered version, which hits Xbox LIVE on the 17th, is now in the hands of the press and the video shows the first 10 minutes of the story mode.
"The twisting plot offers some fantastic opportunities for RARE to demonstrate their artistic talents, but also to create some of the most inspiring levels seen on the console hardware of the time. The level design, even to this day, is simply astounding. Offering player numerous routes through many of the levels, the design presents an openness that is rarely matched in modern FPS games. There are areas which may not be uncovered even after several playthroughs, though these spaces possess ju..."
"Microsoft is set to launch another of what are becoming Xbox LIVE’s regular events this weekend, the Xbox LIVE Arcade House Party. In addition to granting Xbox LIVE Silver subscribers the ability to play their games online for free, the Xbox LIVE Arcade House Party will offer a special Xbox LIVE Arcade promotion with an added bonus for Gold account holders."
The upcoming spring season will be a great time for Xbox 360 gamers. This is especially true when it comes to great exclusives (console or otherwise) slated for release from March through May.
"Breaking from tradition slightly, the Xbox LIVE Arcade conversion will feature twenty unlockable Achievements as oppose to the ten typically available in Xbox LIVE Arcade releases. However, the total sum of 200 GamerScore remains in-keeping with convention. Whether or not Perfect Dark will receive more Achievements and GamerScore through downloadable content (DLC) remains to be seen, but right now the smart money would most certainly be on “most likely”."
In light of Perfect Dark's remastered release around the corner, ScrewAttack takes a nostalgic look back at the original in their Video Game Vault. So get your Expansion Pak ready!
"In March, an hi-def port of Perfect Dark will be released on Xbox LIVE Arcade. The port will feature much more than tarted up graphics.
Ken Lobb from Microsoft Game Studios has told Kotaku that players can use weapons from Nintendo 64 game GoldenEye 007. That game was developed by Rare, the same studio behind Perfect Dark, which has been called GoldenEye's "spiritual successor". GoldenEye 007-style weapons were also unlockable in Perfect Dark, but with slightly different names.
Lobb als..."
"Perfect Dark originally launched for the Nintendo 64 in 2000, and now, ten years later, it’s set to return on the current-generation through the Xbox 360’s Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Developed by 4J Studios – the team behind the conversions of RARE’s Banjo-Kazooie titles – Perfect Dark is easily the most anticipated Xbox LIVE Arcade release of the year, perhaps even since the digital distribution channel launched back in 2005. Priced at 800 Microsoft Points, Perfect Dark will be available from Ma..."

"Further information was also released on the game, including some details on the finer specifications. In addition to the game running at 1080p and 60 frames per second, character models that were originally 300 polygons are now 3500, while guns that were 150 polygons are now close to 2000. The multiplayer is now playable with up to eight players online, and the conversion features the original co-operative and counter-operative modes playable both online and offline."

After a somewhat quite year in 2009 regarding exclusive games, the Xbox 360 is hoping to bounce back this year with a slew of already announced 360-only titles.
""With Bayonetta strutting into stores this week, it's time to take a look at the toughest female characters gaming has provided gaming with over the years. We're talking ladies of steel; the kind that don't need to be suffering with hormonal pains to rip your head off. Gone is the insistent need to shop and the power to chat your body into a vacant boredom – these girls have far more pressing matters to get on with. By 'pressing,' we mean they are out saving the world or imprinting their high..."
"Following the reaffirmation that the Xbox LIVE Arcade revision of Perfect Dark would arrive this winter, though now in 2010, Microsoft has updated the game’s page in the Xbox LIVE Marketplace section on the official Xbox website, xbox.com. In addition to three brand new screenshots not previously released – with particular attention to be paid to the game’s infamous Farsight weapon – the page has been updated with the suggest virtual box art for the forthcoming release."
"The forthcoming Xbox LIVE Arcade adaptation of Perfect Dark is undoubtedly riding high on the digital distribution service’s most wanted list. Alongside the conversion of SEGA’s Mega-Drive classic, Toejam & Earl, few of the proposed updates to games of yesteryear could claim to have demanded so much attention. With that of course, comes the constant need for reaffirmation of the eager fanbase, a service which RARE Ltd., developer of the original Nintendo 64 release, happily oblige with."
Some new screenshots in for the XBLA update to Perfect Dark, the game some (i.e. me) herald as the greatest shooter to date.
Looking as lovely as ever!

The game has been upgraded for its forthcoming XBLA release to hi-definition as expected and will run at 60 frames per second, but perhaps even more exciting is the news online multiplayer is in store.
In short, this should easily be the definitive version of Perfect Dark. Here we come, Skedar!
"Officially due for release this winter, Perfect Dark will hit the Xbox LIVE! Arcade with renewed vigour, according to details revealed by Microsoft. The game will be Perfect Dark XBLA Screenshotavailable in High-Definition, and is suggested to benefit from a smoother framerate than the original release. In addition, the game will reportedly receive added features to capitalise on Xbox LIVE!. While online multi-player is a given, the first batch of screenshots hint towards the possible implant..."
"Major Nelson just confirmed via his Twitter that Xbox Live will be receiving a care package this winter in the form of Rare's Perfect Dark. Major made no reference to price or improvements to game content, aside from mentioning that the title will run in 1080p and that fans will be able to nab it this winter. And if you are a fan of Perfect Dark, keep an eye out for a free theme releasing tomorrow on Xbox Live."
Before it was just a rumor, but Rare has just recently confirmed that Perfect Dark WILL be coming to the Xbox Live Arcade. Rare also tells their fans to expect a huge announcement coming from them in June, which I'm guessing will be at E3. What to expect? Goldeneye 007 with online multiplayer on the XBLA, I hope.
