"Sequels are what gamers of all walks look forward to after finishing an original. But, while getting the same thing can be good, pending there’s been even a chunky slurry of improvements to the meaty whole of the gameplay sometimes we end up getting nothing more than a rotting carcass of disappointment. It may not necessarily be the sequels fault, occasionally the shoes are just too big for the next game to live up to the expectations of the fans – while it rarely is just a case that the game..."

"Donkey Kong Country. Killer’s Instinct. Conker’s Bad Fur Day. Banjo-Kazooie. These are some of the games that spring to mind when someone mentions Rare, the British developer whose name used to be—back in the days of Super Nintendo and the N64—more or less synonymous with superb quality."

"Last week’s Electronic Theatre Sunday Special was the run down of Top Ten Videogame Heroes; featuring the protagonist you loved like Sam Fisher, Sonic the Hedgehog and Link. So to prove that the games industry isn’t just a man’s game, this week we focus on the Top Ten Videogame Heroines. Ten of the females that got you hot under the collar, and not in the Dead or Alive Paradise way, but stayed on track with the heroic mission which faced them have been chosen for this week’s feature article."

GameZone reports first details on what may be a new promotion Microsoft is running with new Xbox 360 slim models or what might just be a big manufacturing error and what to watch out for with new Xbox 360 purchases.

"The Xbox 360 launched four years ago today in Europe, ushering in the current-generation of videogames consoles and putting a full stop in the life of the original Xbox. Only a handful of games for Microsoft’s first console made it to UK shores after 2nd December 2005, as the Xbox 360 began its life as the company’s definite priority."

Peter Moore, former man in charge of the Xbox had said a number of interesting things in his interview The Guardian. But one of his most controversial is that Rare is not in touch with the modern games industry. Elaborating further he said that Microsoft had a hard time bringing the studio up to scratch, using Perfect Dark as an example.

"Some games are utterly timeless. Super Mario Bros is still perfect. Soul Calibur 1 is still beautiful. But this is GR’s Week of Hate, after all. So here are the once-great games that might shock you if you play them today."

If you were one of those Perfect Dark (N64) fans left empty by Rare's Xbox 360 prequel Perfect Dark Zero, then why not take a look at a new tech video clip that has emerged showcasing some of the abandoned Xbox version's attributes. It might provide solace for some, and more frustration for other.

A person on the Beyond3D forums tested various games, and found that some 360 games don't even run at 720p, and are instead upscaled to it. Halo 3 and Perfect Dark Zero, for example, run at 640p, while PGR3 and Tomb Raider run at a measly 600p.

It has also been noted that it runs at 1138x640 with only Bilinear filtering, no Anti Aliasing, and gets roughly 30 frames per second average.
