"2001 was a pioneering year for video games. Nintendo released it’s GameCube console, and Microsoft entered the video game market with the Xbox. Meanwhile, the PlayStation 2 continued to dominate the market while Sega announced that they would be pulling out of the console business, killing support for the Dreamcast to focus on software. On the handheld front, Nintendo released their Game Boy Advance.

Nintendo Fall Press Conference 2008: GameCube Games Will See Rereleases Under New Label

At the Nintendo Fall Press Conference today, Nintendo announced that they will be rereleasing some GameCube classics under a new label: "Wii de Asobu Selection" roughly translated by Chris Kohler as "Games You Can Play on Wii Selection". One of these games will include Pikmin.

Also revealed was a new game from Sonic Team creator Yuji Naka's studio, called "Let's Tap".
