Skylanders is a unique style of game in which players can interchange characters with collectible figures they place on a surface. Is this a concept that other games could utilize? Mike D from Yet Another Gaming Show looks at a couple other examples of games that could consider this very notion.

Jack DeVries is a self-proclaimed Pokemon maniac. He's not ashamed to admit he plays "alternate world" in his bedroom. In fact, he even bought a cook book just because it had "poke" on it.

Jack DeVries of ign.com recently went to an event for the upcoming Pokemon game, Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia. While there, he decided for some unknown reason to compile a mental list of the Pokemon you really just don't want to catch, the sort that mentally prevent you from catching them all.
Each Pokemon listed is given a little bit of information (Name, Type, Number and Species) from the Pokedex before a a nice healthy statement of why you don't want to go anywhere near that Pokemon...
Mums always do a really good job making a great birthday party when you're a little kid. They always come up with fun themes, games and generally make it a whole lot of fun.
This mum decided that if her child loved Pokemon, he'd be getting Pokemon! She made some pretty cool looking Pokemon cupcakes. Faces include Snorlax, Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Piplup, Munchlax and Turtwig.

In a press release today, Nintendo announced a new limited edition DS Lite, that will feature the two Pokémon Diamond and Pearl cover legendaries, Dialga and Palkia, on an Onyx DS Lite. This new DS Lite will also come packaged with an animated episode based on Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness, a carrying case featuring Dialga and Palkia, and a mini-poster.
The new DS Lite will go on sale August 17, for a retail price of $129.99.
Nintendo has released their Q1 Financial Report [PDF] for this year, reporting astronomical numbers, with an operating income of 119.19 billion yen (USD ~1.1 billion), net sales of 423.38 billion yen (USD ~3.9 billion), and a net income of 107.26 billion yen (USD ~0.99 billion). The quarter ended June 30, 2008.
