In this top 5, I list my favorite video games based on anime. Some of the entries will surprise you, but they all have anime/manga that released either at the same time or before the game was published. There's some real juggernauts in this list, and a few surprises. Take a look, and you'll see what I mean.
Skylanders is a unique style of game in which players can interchange characters with collectible figures they place on a surface. Is this a concept that other games could utilize? Mike D from Yet Another Gaming Show looks at a couple other examples of games that could consider this very notion.
Video games make good Movies. Video Games also make good fake Movie trailers. They are hilarious and coming from video games you would never expect. So check them out!

"Target, Toys R Us and Best Buy are all offering deals this week meant to get shoppers to make multiple purchases. Meanwhile, K-Mart is offering a hot deal on Mafia II releasing this week and a similar deal on Red Dead Redemption."
"Perhaps this post isn’t anything more than me venting out my frustrations with people who refuse to understand why I would choose to play Pokemon over something like Call of Duty or World of Warcraft. Or to those who think they’ve outgrown the franchise that they used to love just because they got older."
"This week's cosplay babe of the week was a toughy. She's associated with one of the most popular video game franchises in the history of gaming, but more for the merchandising and cartoons than being a gym leader in red and blue. The moment we see Misty, we instantly say "gotta catch 'em all"."
The Legendary Chapter will be the 5th disk set in The Battrio series. This set has no set Pokémon but will feature some legendary Pokémon. The Japanese release is set for March 2010.
This will be the fourth movie in the Pokémon Diamond & Pearl series. The japanese release is scheduled for July 10th 2010 and will likely offer a download of Celebi to any of your 4th generation games (Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Heartgold, Soulsilver). You will also be able to download the alternate colours of the 3 legendary beasts if you book a ticket. There legendary beasts will also be sent to one of your 4th generation games (Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Heartgold, Soulsilver). These legenda...
"Pokemon, oh, Pokemon. What was once a secret guilty pleasure of mine has transformed into a monster run rampant—an obsession, if you will. And with the remake of one of my favorite Game Boy titles of all time less than two weeks away, I find myself sleeping less and less as I scratch the hours into my bedpost.
Yes, I’ll admit it: I love Pokemon. *bleep*in’ love it. The gameplay is intricate, yet catchy. The music is bouncy and memorable. And the Pokemon are badass as all hell.
Well, for..."
The first Pokémon of the 5th generation has been somewhat revealed during tonight's episode of Pokémon Sunday. And by that, I mean we have been shown its silhouette, but nothing else. However, this has been enough to rile up fans around the world, many of whom have already speculated as to what exactly the silhouette depicts.
"It's been four full years since the introduction of the Nintendo DS. This dual-screen, touch-screen handheld was a system first received with skepticism when it launched in the US in November of 2004. Over time, it began to prove itself. The dual-screened handheld that had everyone, gamers and developers alike, scratching their heads has become the most popular and most purchased piece of video game hardware.
But it's not on the strength of the hardware alone. The reason why Nintendo's DS ..."
Ah it's that time of year again, when you're going to be browsing websites or running to the mall for last-minute gift-giving. I mean, really, who does Christmas shopping before the week of? Pfft.

"The Berliners are particularly pleased with the success in the United Kingdom: in the second week it climbed up to number two of the GfK full-price charts, one place behind Nintendo’s Pokemon Platinum, with only two other third-party titles in the Top 10."
Nintendo president Satoru Iwata recently revealed that the Pokemon we know and love almost didn't make it to the West. When the games were about to leave Japan, localizers told Nintendo that Western audiences would never accept the cute little monsters and advised Nintendo to make the creatures more "muscle-bound" to appeal to Western gamers. Nintendo didn't like the idea and decided against it.
Turns out Nintendo had the right idea.

"We learned on the 7th that "Pocket Monsters Gold and Silver," the second entry in the popular RPG series, originally released on the Gameboy system in November of 1999, will be remade for the Nintendo DS this autumn under the titles "HeartGold" and "SoulSilver." New elements will be added in this tenth anniversary return to the Johto Region.
A continuation of the original series (Pocket Monsters Red, Green, Blue, and Pikachu), Gold and Silver recorded remarkable sales of 23,000,000 copies ..."
Take this with the most precious grain of salt: a user on the NeoGAF forums not only confirms the Pokemon Gold/Silver remakes and additional features, but also confirms once more on DSi Virtual Console of Game Boy games.
Also, another Pokemon Battle Revolution-style game is expected to be announced at E3.
NOT ONLY THAT, but he even drops word of an idea tossed around right now at Nintendo: re-releasing Pokemon Red and Blue on the DSi VC AND having them connect to Pokemon Stadium on the ...
Pokemon fansites all over the web are going absolutely nuts over a recent imminent announcement of a major Pokemon game. Next Sunday on Pokemon Sunday (Japan's anime plus anything Pokemon show) is what many are expecting to be the official unveiling of Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver remakes. Aside from Japanese magazines having a hand in this, possibly the biggest giveaway of it all was a display of gold and silver party balls displayed during the show.

"Catching them all is as much of a bitch as I remember—only now there’s about a gajillion more Pokemon to find. There are the usual lulls in gameplay, but at the same time it’s still pretty freakin’ addictive. I honestly can’t put the game down.
My advice for dealing with this issue: do something else while you play (watch a movie, eat lunch, work, etc.).
Overall, not much has changed with the basic formula, and “Platinum” could easily be swapped out for the word “Plus”. Still, it’s nice..."

"The Science of Collecting
The Pokémon games have some cute, original creature designs, but beyond their cuddly forms (and the hulking monsters many of them grow into) there are a lot of them -- 493 at last count. And, like with any repetitive game that offers rewards directly related to time spent in the game (see also World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time) the capacity for endless grinding to raise a character's level by even a fraction is an almost primal..."
Quite a release week, for PC gamers especially. First we get (finally) Dark Sector, initially planned for simultaneous release, then The Last Remnant, Battleforge..life's pretty good. Although we can't recommend you pick up Dark Sector as it contains that horrid Starforce DRM.
There isn't really much exclusive stuff (not a bad thing, really), with PS3, Xbox 360 and PC owners alike receiving Stormrise, Wanted, and Wheelman, with the latter two seeing Legends of Wrestlemania.

"It’s very unlikely that anyone reading this hasn’t played at least one Pokemon game. The Pokecraze lasted for years, and to this day it’s still extremely popular. The formula works, and while some changes would be nice, with minor changes we could have a perfect Pokemon game. A few of my ideas involve more radical changes though, but those are much less likely to be implemented."
That's right! For all the big Pokemon fans out there, head on over from the link to check out the official website for the latest edition to the Pokemon series, Pokemon Platinum.
"A sweeping new adventure, set in the Sinnoh region of the Pokémon world, packed with new features - such as new ways to play online at the Wi-Fi Plaza over the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection and the ability to save your greatest victories in the Vs. Recorder - will electrify fans of the Pokémon series. A brand new Distortion World, governed by neither time nor space, also emerges, which provides a whole new gameplay challenge!"
"I am sure that everybody, at some point in their lives, has been playing a videogame and suddenly found themselves questioning the sexual preferences of the characters involved. Ultimately, one finds one's self asking the final and most pressing question of all -- is that character a dom or a sub?"
"But on to more important stuff. See, I hate reading. It's for pretentious jerks that think they're better than everyone. In fact, I don't even like writing. I use speak and spell software to dictate my articles to the computer. It takes six hours for a review but it's totally worth it.
The one exception to my hatred of reading is when I'm searching the internet for the latest and greatest Pokemon fanfictions. Nobody writes about the Pokemon universe better than 12-year-old girls."

Jack DeVries is a self-proclaimed Pokemon maniac. He's not ashamed to admit he plays "alternate world" in his bedroom. In fact, he even bought a cook book just because it had "poke" on it.
This craziness lead him to the creating of a blog for all things Pokemon themed which are just really weird, odd or just shouldn't be done.
Read on to see how you can eat, fish, read, smell, touch, ride and jump around inside Pokemon!
Japanese newssite GPara has Media Create's top thirty software rankings for the week of November 10th to November 16th. This week's top ten is an eye-opener, and is pretty weird compared to other weeks.

That's right, Nintendo is planning something quite special with DSvision. It'll be coming out on the 18th of December.
The package will be 2GB all up. It'll comprise five of the movies, totaling to over five hours worth of watching!
Jack DeVries of ign.com recently went to an event for the upcoming Pokemon game, Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia. While there, he decided for some unknown reason to compile a mental list of the Pokemon you really just don't want to catch, the sort that mentally prevent you from catching them all.
Each Pokemon listed is given a little bit of information (Name, Type, Number and Species) from the Pokedex before a a nice healthy statement of why you don't want to go anywhere near that Pokemon...
Mums always do a really good job making a great birthday party when you're a little kid. They always come up with fun themes, games and generally make it a whole lot of fun.
This mum decided that if her child loved Pokemon, he'd be getting Pokemon! She made some pretty cool looking Pokemon cupcakes. Faces include Snorlax, Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Piplup, Munchlax and Turtwig.
Hungry?

LotusCharts have posted up statistic for this week's software sales in Japan.
It's no surprise that Pokemon Platinum is still selling really high, though it did lose its number one spot. Super Robot Wars Z, a new show to the gaming world claimed top place. Disaster: Day of Crisis managed to scrap its way into the top ten. Most of the the top ten spots were games not too well known by the Western World, though Wii Fit managed to still stay at the top in eight place.

For the Wii, Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit came out first and second. On the 360, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Tales of Vesperia, and Rock Band 2 came out in the lead. For the PS3, again, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed game out on top along with Afrika in Japan; Grand Theft Auto IV and Metal Gear Solid 4 came high as well. To see t...
Japanese newssite Inside Games has Media Create's top thirty software rankings for the week of September 8th to September 14th. Having seen Famitsu's numbers for the week earlier today, there aren't really any new surprises, although there are some discrepancies in the order of the rankings.

1up has put up a very nice preview in anticipation of the release of Pokemon Platinum for the Nintendo DS.
The introduction starts with how many games have now been released and that it should have become a dread for gamers, but it's not the case. It discusses both old features being incorporated once more along with some new ones (especially after beating the Elite 4). Also mentioned Wi-Fi and the changes with it in Pokemon Platinum in comparison to Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl. It ...
In the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu, magazine publisher and sales tracker Enterbrain has posted what is their sales numbers for the second week in September. It was already reported that Pokémon Platinum had sold 967,675 copies in two days. The Xbox 360, on the strength of a price cut and the release of Infinite Undiscovery, actually has sold more than the Wii for the first time in its lifetime, by only a thousand units.

Earlier this week, you may have seen a news article stating that the latest game coming from The Pokémon Company and Nintendo, Pokémon Platinum had sold 740,000 copies in the first week. That number had been proven to be false due to faulty source data.
However, today, Japanese sales tracker Enterbrain has announced that Pokémon Platinum had sold 967,675 in its first week on the market. It released on a Saturday, so the game ended up selling that amount in two days. Please check back la...
This article give details on a recent party to celebrate Pokemon Platinum going onto the market in Japan (September 13th). Pokemon Cub fans and students were invited to join in the celebrations. Promos (such as the Giratina mask) and prizes alike were given out as Pokemon Platinum was promoted.
Everyone's excited for the new Pokemon game called Platinum.
Like Yellow, Crystal and Emerald before it, it will be the third game of a series to wrap it all up nicely.
Platinum has had a lot of news recently, both truth and rumours. It looks to be a great third addition like Emerald was, but will it be?
"Case one: You're a spiky haired boy walking through the woods and a butterfly flutters out of a nearby tree. What would you do?
A. Watch it and admire nature's beauty
B. Do a happy dance
C. Eat a leaf
D. Convince your animals friends to "use flamethrower" on it, just for the experience
Now if you're a normal person you'd probably do A, B, or even C, depending on how tastey the leaf looks. If you're the main character of Pokémon, however, you'd go with D. Why is that acceptable?!? Only ..."
"The film franchise, which started in 1998, is based on the 1996 Nintendo Game Boy game "Pokemon."
The latest entry, "Giratina and the Sky's Bouquet: Shaymin," has earned $32 million since its July 19 release.
Pokemon has become a hugely profitable franchise for Nintendo and its partners, generating games, trading cards, CDs, TV shows, pics and character goods.
The first "Pokemon" feature toon earned $85.7 million in the U.S. following its 1999 release, a record for a Japanese pic th..."
A trailer/TV spot for the Japanese version of Pokemon Platinum has arrived! From the looks of it, this (being an enhancement much like Pokemon Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, etc) will certainly be the definitive version of this generation of Pokemon titles, and the graphics look pumped up too. Who's in?
Platinum arrives September 13 in Japan; no word on other release dates yet, but before or around the holiday season is a good bet.
"The Pokémon Company has announced Pokémon 151, a new brand intended for adult Pokémon fans. An official Web site opens Thursday, and Japanese Pokémon Center stores have begun selling four types of stylized T-shirts. In addition, a Diamond and Pearl battle tournament for ages 15 and up will be held at the Tokyo store July 4.
The four T-shirts currently available for pre-sale feature stylized designs of Hypno, Cubone, Articuno and Mewtwo, respectively."
"Lopunny poses like a Playboy bunny in a centerfold spread. Or a prostitute working the sidewalk. Either way, it's sexually suggestive. It also grabs its chest area like it's trying to keep you from seeing the goods. And is it just me or do Lopunny's elbows look like a pair of drooping...boobs? There's so much subconscious sexual imagery going on with Lopunny - if I saw one standing like that at a bar, I might just have to take it home with me."
A great graduation speech about trying to be the best, like no one ever was, traveling across the land, searching far and wide, evolving and training to achieve your goals.
Oh and Pokemon
