GetGamesGo.com somehow managed to get Ubisoft to let them sell some games at, up to, 75% off; awesome guys. Many of these games are some well known titles from the Developer/Publisher.

"Anyone with a Xbox LIVE subscription and a copy of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion can tell you how ridiculous DLC pricing can be. You may or may not have heard of the now-infamous Horse Armor Pack offered by Bethesda in 2006, containing nothing more than two sets of barding for your rarely-used animal companions. While the price of 200msp ($2.50) seems measly by today’s standards, it was a big deal at the time, as seen in this Joystiq article. It may have even been the catalyst for what would soo..."

With PS2 classics like the Sly Cooper series and Team Ico's games being re-released for PS3, it looks like HD upgrades of classics games are here to stay. Here are five more collections that should be released on PS3.

"Having gone through the Sands Of Time trilogy a few times in my short lifetime, to see a completely different prince starring in a game that's called Prince Of Persia was a little bit of a shock to my system, as he looked so different.... I suppose this is how the fans of the older games on DOS felt after seeing the redesigned Prince for the Sands Of Time trilogy. But in any case, with change, has to come lowered expectations - we can't expect the same sort of thing we got with the Sands Of T..."

With the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time movie right around the corner, fans are anxious to see whether the next video game movie will sink or swim. While you're eagerly waiting, check out this impressive Prince of Persia inspired cosplay, complete with beautiful model!

Over the long history of video games, many great characters have been created. In this article we look at what we think are the 12 most popular video game characters. Enjoy!

I am torn over the upcoming Bruckheimer Prince of Persia film adaptation. I like Jake, don't get me wrong, and he looks gruff and buff for the role, but there are some great, truly persian actors that look more like titular character than a tanned Jake. That said, I will give it a fair shake. Feeling nostalgic about classic PoP games, the gang here put together a small retrospective, highlighting some of the games in the long running franchise.

Capcom is happy to announce Newegg currently has a deal up for the PC version of Devil May Cry 4 -- just $10 and with no shipping costs. (link) Just picked this one up myself, and it runs flawlessly -- can't recommend it enough if you're a fan of DMC, not least because of the PC exclusive features.

Update: Just noticed Prince of Persia is up for $8, also with free shipping! Highly recommend this one, too! (link)

"The Resumeplay staff was hit with a hard question this week to narrow down their all time favorite female character that you get control over at some point in a video game. Looks doesn’t have nothing to do with it (well, to a couple writers it does) its the attachment that the individual has to the character is what matters. Check after the break for the list of our favorite gaming girls."

""Games are always packed with items, superpowers, plot devices, and vehicles that I wish I had. I realize that they’re fictional stories, just like we find in books or movies. It’s so different, though. When I’m reading or vegging out to the television on the couch, I’m actively detached. I’m a spectator. When I’m gaming, however, I’m actively involved. When I play Portal, I’m actually creating portals with a special gun to get myself out of sticky situations–even if it’s just with my mouse.""

"With fear of sounding like an old grouch, I recall days when the Internet was not so popular, or even not popular at all. For the video game world, this carried with it one wonderful positive: mystery. It's not that print media was completely free of giving us some juicy details months (even years) before we played a game, but it retrospect, it seems it was more tastefully done, and well-orchestrated, as opposed to what the rabidly curious nature of the Internet produces."

Now that any of the fuss over Prince of Persia has subsided, producer Ben Mattes has sat down for a chat with Industry Gamers about the title, covering what they've learned, why they couldn't bring it to Wii, and more.

Mattes has previously commented on the unique choices made in the game's design, including the difficulty -- consider reading that interview as a precursor to this one, if you're going for maximum geekiness!

"In my never-ending quest to fill the giant open spaces of my life I call work, I decided to compile a list of video games guys who are b.a.mf.’s. By this I mean these guys probably couldn’t ever successfully have a girlfriend, can kill without losing sleep, or guys who should really pay a visit to some of the scum that are allowed to exist in this world. Just guys who you don’t want to mess with- ever."

GameSpot has a pretty great expose online now regarding the "DRM dilemmna" -- that is, publisher action said to minimize piracy by limiting what gamers can do with a given title for the PC.

In it they speak to DRM advocates, opponents, developers, publishers, and DRM vendors themselves -- a must-read if you're looking to gain a broader perspective on the matter at hand, or don't know what DRM is about.

The last article by Jim Sterling I posted here on Grep seemed to have come with mixed response. I now give you something new that I think we can all agree on... the cheapness that comes with some games trying to make you play for more than necessary.

"As I started the game and slowly melted into a puddle of awe, I had a good feeling about how the next few hours would go.

Then the dialogue began, and it all started to go downhill from there. It's hard to comprehend how you can hate something that's so pretty. Despite its great looks, Prince of Persia is about as fun as playing Guitar Hero on easy with PC speaker sound and a regular controller."

Obviously fans of the game were excited for Epilogue, but some may be disappointed in the newest batch of DLC for the Prince's most recent outing. Extra Ammo talk about DLC in general, covering its very brief history in the gaming industry, and how it has its flaws. Apart from that, Epilogue is reviewed on diversity, price and many other factors attached to DLC. Epilogue scores an average 7.7

Ubisoft has announed that the epilogue episode for PoP will not be releasing on Feb 26, but on March 5. Meh, I'm sure we'll all be busy with Killzone 2 by then.

Also, note that this DLC is going to be available for both PSN and LIVE users, unlike some other recent DLCs.

A new trailer has been released which shows the content coming in the upcoming Prince of Persia DLC Epilogue. The DLC itself will carry on from where the main game ended (And were i'm sure most of us were annoyed) The DLC will hopefully conclude the cliffhanger ending we were all left with. The trailer shows new enemies and locations.

"During the New York Toy Fair over the weekend, it was announced that, continuing with their recent fascination with recreating famous movie scenes/characters, LEGO would be releasing a line of LEGO figures and playsets for the upcoming Prince of Persia movie.

Sure, the toys will be based on the movie, and not the game, but it's a movie based on a game. So, in a roundabout way, we'll have the first LEGO toys to be made from a video game series, and not the other way around.

The toys won'..."

"All alone on V-Day? Emotionally in the dumps? Just want to commiserate with the best of them?

Because we know how you feel, we've scraped up the loneliest games to help you sulk away the year's loneliest weekend without playing with your joystick too much. May these titles further freeze the icy blankets on your Twin-size bed."

One Prince, one Princess, intertwining fates....all leads to one epic journey to rid the world of evil and for the Prince to realize his true destiny.

"Bottom line: Prince of Persia is a visually stunning, laid back and engrossing video game. A prime example of games as art and games as storytelling devices. Much like the Prince’s movements across the landscape, the game is fluid, albeit repetitive. It is easy to complete because you cannot die and cannot be defeated, yet it is challenging as sometimes a mistake will force you to replay large chunks of gravity defying leaps from cliff walls while avoiding the black goo of corruption."

Ubisoft has been shady on the details of downloadable content (DLC) for the PC version of Prince of Persia, most recently saying there's "no news on [it] at the moment". Well, community manager UbiRazz came forth yesterday and said it won't be coming at all.

...sad.

UK Community Ubi.Vigil Manager meanwhile is encouraging users to voice their opinions in a civilized manner, saying, "We'll be reading the threads here as ever and passing on feedback."

With well over 100 posts in the th...

"Ubisoft have today officially confirmed new details about Prince of Persia Epilogue Downloadable Content (DLC). Scheduled to release for consoles February 26th, 2009, Prince of Persia DLC continues the story of the Prince and Elika with a brand-new epic adventure."

In this review, I attempt to analyze the viewpoints and ideas expressed in Prince of Persia's narrative. Ideas which attempt to address the issue of, as the Prince states, "fighting someone else's battle," among other things.

Neoseeker/GameGrep's own 'Custodial Engineer' Redemption explains in this blog that PC gaming is by no means dying, but retail outlets sure aren't helping it to be what it could.

NPD revealed retail sales (which seem to generally be above digital) are down this holiday season, but is it any wonder when we often can't find even the big hits on shelves anymore, or on the store websites?

While Yahtzee's look at Prince of Persia was well and good, those who prefer a more diplomatic approach may want to check out Tom Cross' (of GameSetWatch) take.

He looks deep into what many gamers are hating on the game for and ultimately comes to the conclusion that despite its flaws, the game is well worth playing and is actually quite daring in many of the things it tries.

"Today, 5th January 2009, is officially the twelfth day of Christmas. Most of you are probably back into your usual daytime routine by now, and are looking for something to entertain you during those long winter nights. The Twelve Games of Christmas is a feature series that has been run on each of the twelve days of Christmas here at Electronic Theatre, looking at the disc-based European releases of 2008, and selecting the best performers of each month. Today is the final instalment, and so it..."

Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaws last review of 2008 is here, which is of the new Prince of Persia game.

Also, if you're a fan of Zero Punctuation, check out The year in review - 2008. A collection of his favourite and funny lines, from his 2008 reviews. Heres to 2009.

It's almost 2009 (3 hours from now) and I thought I would start the celebrations by launching an realy New Year's review of Prince of Persia, which some of you will know, I have had most fun with. It's an amazing game, disregarding everything present in the old games. I gave the newest instalment a outstanding 92%, making it the second best rated game on the site. Please leave a comment.

Seth Schiesel has written a thought-provoking blog on the realism (or lack thereof) that appears in the Prince of Persia games. While Schiesel acknowledges that Prince of Persia's aim isn't to be realistic and that the games aren't actually set in the Persia from our world, he questions whether that is reason enough to absolve the developers from accurately depicting parts of Persian culture or a Persian's appearance (namely the prince himself)...

The new Prince Of Persia game was recently released with good reviews. But producer Ben Mattes doesn't think so. He goes on to complain about how the lack of innovation in sequals is terrible. And how they tried really hard to bring a whole new formula to the Prince Of Persia series and still keep it Prince Of Persia. He complains that there is a lack of appreciation for everything they did. If its worth anything to yah Ben, I think it's great new style for the Prince.

As it was previously reported, the retail PC version of Prince of Persia has no Digital Rights Management (DRM). Well, DairukaSutain of Reclaim Your Game has taken it upon herself to thank Ubisoft as such on their forums, and many gamers (including myself) have joined in. Care to?

Many have even gone so far as to say the bought the purely because it has no DRM. Community developer UbiRazz, in the original thread in which this news was originally announced, responded to a member on the topi...

"The actions you commit in both games are similar and similarly contrary to the standard high-body-count activities in mode games.

Both "Prince of Persia" and "Shadow of the Colossus" involve a whole lot of climbing and jumping, punctuated only by brief bouts of violence. In "Shadow of the Colossus," the climbing and killing is primarily set on the backs of giants. In "Prince of Persia" the action is set, more traditionally, on cliffs and towers and other sections of acrobatically-navigated..."

"At the beginning of the game, you can look at your map and find 24 different areas, represented as little circles on your map. Each of those 24 areas are grey and drap, with no life inhabiting it save for the black goo that will suck in and kill the prince should he slip in. You can restore all the color and plantlife back to each area by platforming your way to the "fertile ground," where your partner Elika will use her magical stripper abilities to shoot flowers out of her pants.

With the "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time" trilogy over and done with by the end of the last console generation, Ubisoft recognized the need to refresh the series for its next-gen debut. "Prince of Persia" is the franchise's first tentative steps towards gaming perfection, with beautiful locales, tight and responsive controls and enthralling combat adding to the appeal of this already remarkable franchise. But a few troublesome flaws hold the game back, as this review from A+B+Start explains.

"Ubisoft have decided to run an extremely generous Christmas promotion through their online store, Electronic Theatre can reveal today. When ordering any of the publishers’ six biggest titles for Christmas, or any of the Imagine range of games for the NintendoDS, customer will receive a fantastic free gift, and with selected titles the opportunity to win much, much more..."

Much like we just saw with Oddworld, the new Prince of Persia game will be DRM free.

It seems as if this is going to be a test for gamers, a chance for us to prove that DRM is one of the driving causes of piracy. Lets not screw this one up. Albeit - there is still the $50 price tag, which is undoubtedly another driving force, but still.

"You've read about some of our favorite games of the year. Now it's time for the disappointments.

The games below, chosen by the usual panel of Wired.com contributors, is in no way supposed to be a list of the worst games of 2008. Those are all for the Wii, cost $10, are about dogs and/or babies, and we wouldn't be caught dead playing them. No, these are the games that let us down the most this year. Most of them are actually good games. But they failed to live up to the hype, or didn't del..."

"Much like the recent Batman or James Bond films, Ubisoft Montreal is seeking to follow this Hollywood trend of reinvention and re-boot the Prince of Persia series again. The original 3D reinvention, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, was hailed by the critics but oddly didn’t sell as well as it should have. Nevertheless, it is now viewed as a classic.

The inevitable sequel, Prince of Persia: Two Thrones, followed and much like many sequels seemed to fail to live up to the first game. Then..."

Mainly a light week this time 'round, but you're okay with that because you're playing Mirror's Edge, or Fallout 3, or LittleBigPlanet, or whatever else, yeah?

A note about Grand Theft Auto IV on the PC: Rockstar has stuck our adorable little friend SecuROM in there this time.

"Forget what you know about the Prince of Persia series. Let go the Sands of Time. Release your Warrior Within. Ubisoft Montreal has created a new Prince, in a new world, with a new female companion and a very different design philosophy. The longer you hold on to the style of last generation's Prince of Persia, the harder it will be to master the new one. Embrace the change and you're likely to fall in love with the new Prince (or at least his lovely companion).

"Ubisoft producer Ben Mattes has said downloadable content for the new Prince or Persia game is very much part of the plan, and will add "significant value" - perhaps even as much as an entire prequel or sequel.

"We certainly have plans for downloadable content, [but] we can't really say more than that right now," Mattes told Gamersyde in a video interview.

"The intention is to do downloadable content that adds significant value, so I don't think you'll see downloadable content of a new ..."

You probably have heard of the new Prince Of Persia and probably have seen some of the gameplay. but what isn't very well known is the story line behind the game, and that is the driving force of games. In this new trailer we see what looks like the opening cinematics for the game, and half way it switch's to gameplay in slow motion. The song, if you are interested that play's in the background is called 'Breathe Me‘ by Sia.

"The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions still arrive on 5th December, according to the schedule, which we think gives the game a fighting chance at a Christmas number one."

The developers and publishers of the newest Prince of Persia game - Ubisoft - go deep into the art style of the new game, stating that it is not "cartoonish". I must say, the level at 4:16 looks absolutely amazing.

"Prince of Persia Classic, like Bionic Commando Rearmed, is essentially the same as the original game but the graphics no longer look like 8-bit ass. They've been all three-dimensionalized and such. Also, the prince now resembles the hero from the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, unfortunate facial hair and all. More importantly, there's new puzzles, traps, and enemies."

A brand new trailer of Prince of Persia from TGS08. Showing of some beautiful serene landscapes and fight scenes all with some hauntingly beautiful music in the background. Click the link to view the video.

With Prince of Persia releasing on December 5th on the PC, XBOX360 and PS3, ThreeSpeech the semi-official Playstation blog managed to get a hands-on with the game, and the verdict was...

Brand new screenshots of the first next gen Prince of Persia game. Taking a complete turn on the series by adding many new things, most obviously, the cell shading. The game is set to release December 2nd for the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360.

Just when you thought your Christmas games list couldn't get any longer, Ubisoft have announced that their next title in the Prince of Persia franchise will be released on the 2nd of Decemeber in North America and the 4th/5th of Decemeber in Europe and the UK, respectively.

The unofficially named "Prodigy" game in the Prince of Peria series has produced some new screenshots for your perusal, showing off some of the environments, moves and enemies in the game. Check 'em out.

"Last summer, Prince of Persia Classic came to the Xbox Live Arcade. Now, according to an ESRB listing, it appears that PS3 owners will get in on the action.

No release date has been revealed (or that the game even existed on the PS3), but considering the number of titles that have leaked in this fashion, it shouldn’t be too much longer before Ubisoft pulls back the curtains."

Video gaming site 'LiveWii' has reported on news that a corrospondant of their's has found information that a Prince of Persia game has been confirmed for the Wii. They have not mentioned any source but have indicated that the game will be a spin-off.
