Pro Evolution Soccer 2009

"Earlier this month the first details about PES 2011 were released, and at that time it looked like Konami sought to bring better control, smarter AI, better goalkeeping, improved animations, and much more. Today they released the first teaser trailer and screenshots showing off the new freedom-based control scheme and a whole lot of Lionel Messi. Check it out!"

"Game PR gurus often promise things that aren't always delivered in their final games. Often caught in the pre-release storm of hyperbole, hateful buzzwords and excitable press releases, the marketing men commit their games to features or mechanics the developers just can't live up to. In a world of 22 hour days, sleep deprivation and divorce-baiting deadlines, shit happens. That seemed to be the case with the following failed preview pledges. They all got talked up (sometimes outrageously), b..."

It's all about the DS this week, fellas, ladies. Sure, there's a few notables for the other platforms (Rune Factory: Frontier on the Wii, Resistance: Retribution on PSP), but none of them can top a whopping six high profile titles, and of such a great variety. Three RPGs, one RTS, one shooter, one racer, and GTA: Chinatown Wars? Never been a better time to be a DS owner than now..

"Playcast is a complete gaming service solution for Cable and IPTV operators. The service brings next-generation IP owners to hundreds of millions of connected households, with the added benefit of established billing, customer care and support systems already in place via the cable operators themselves."

"Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has confirmed the content of its latest free download for Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 for PLAYSTATION3, Xbox 360 and PC-DVD."

"As an avid FIFA fan it’s hard to comprehend that there is another game available that represents the beautiful game which has been touted to triumph over FIFA numerous times over the past couple of years.

Konamis Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 is the next game in the series that have been heralded as the premiere football games since the days of the Playstation 2.

Even though it did not possess as much authenticity as FIFA it always managed to pull through and be the definitive football game..."

I normally don't do the top list thing, since there's approximately 19 billion of them already, but PocketGamer does seems to be doing gamers a service with this one, helping you sort through the muck this fourth quarter.

Following up on their Top 10 Q4 DS games to look forward to, this one focuses on the PSP. Oddly it doesn't seem like the most stellar list, but perhaps that's just personal opinion. Nevertheless, do you think this season is a poor one for PSP games?

"Konami has revealed key gameplay additions to its forthcoming PES 2009 title for Wii. Scheduled for release in Spring 2009, the new game will retain the intuitive ‘point and click’ interface used to control both the player in possession of the ball and to send those around him on to runs into space. However, a new ‘traditional’ control system using either a Wii Remote or Classic Controller has also been implemented.

Producer Akiyoshi ‘Greyhound’ Chosogabe detailed his plans for the new gam..."

Released a couple of days ago, many people have started to exeriance problems with signing onto XBOX Live with freezes being more frequent. Clearing the cache didn't help, however what did help was quite simple - delete the PES 2009 Demo. It seems that from the moment you start to download it, many people had problems using their Live account.

It was just under a year ago since we last saw the two highly successful football game franchises go at each other - I'm obviously talking about Pro Evolution Soccer and FIFA. Both with the latest instalments releasing shortly, the Kind Folks over at Sony UK have once again given us reasons why each of them are good in their own way, in an effort to help us make up our minds on which game to get.

"No doubt to counterattack today’s release of EA Sports’ FIFA 09 demo, Konami has brought to light several new additions to the up-and-coming Pro Evolution Soccer 09, including an exclusive UEFA Champions League mode.

In a surprising twist of events, Konami today announced that it has acquired exclusive rights to the UEFA Champions League license for the next four years which means we won’t be seeing Champions League-branded FIFA editions for quite some time. Unlike EA Sports, Konami will u..."

"Here are some new shots of PES 2009, giving you a glimpse of some of the off-pitch scenes, and it looks very nice.

Konami sums the game up as "PES Unites". Don't know what that means, but new 'Become a Legend' solo mode is one of biggest new features.

As Konami explains, this "casts the user as a midfielder or striker within a match. Using a default vertical camera view, the player starts as a rookie pro at the start of their career, and charts the many highs and lows of becoming a prof..."

Konami have announced that there is a Wii version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 in development but unfortunately wont be available until spring next year (like this years version was) unlike the Playstation 3, Playstation 2, PC and Xbox 360 versions which will be available in autumn.

It's been the footie fans series of choice since it's early days on the PS2, yet last year's disappointing next-generation effort left the many fans of PES disillusioned. This was heightened in the face of arguably the strongest offering from the FIFA team yet, the series which has often been, at least in many critics eyes, that one step behind Konami's Pro Evo series.

However, Konami have released some details about Pro Evolution Soccer 2009, promising better graphics, improved controls ...
