"Prototype is one of those titles that promised a lot before its release and only half delivered once it hit the streets. On the upside, the complete freedom and utter chaos you can create playing as Alex Mercer is definitely liberating. There’s no moral code you have to follow (which is quite a shock when you try to play without killing innocent bystanders only to realize you can’t) and there’s no sliding good vs. evil scale you have to manage. However, the graphics are a bit weak, the AI ..."
Prototype is an open-world sandbox game developed by Radical Entertainment where you take the role of Alex Mercer. The game is often compared to the PS3 exclusive, InFamous. Is Prototype a worthy game in its own right? Read AAG's full review to find out.
"As a shape-shifting super mutant, players will be able to evolve their powers over time. After collecting Evolution Points, by completing missions, challenges and consuming enemies, Alex can learn and improve a massive number of unique abilities. Alex’s body can transform into deadly weapon by modifying his limbs into wolverine like claws, massive blades, spiked whips and huge fists of stone. Each of the major offensive powers can be upgraded to add combo moves, diversify their usage and impr..."
"Although it’s nice that Prototype offers so much in terms of combat, there comes a point at which you may ask yourself, “How am I supposed to press this combination of buttons in the heat of battle?” Some moves are overly complicated or difficult to even pull off when you’re not even fighting, and it may have been better if the move list was shortened with only the essential ones intact."
Wasn't actually expecting to review Prototype, but hey, Activision decided to send us copies... a week late.
Well, a review is a review, even if it's a last minute surprise. Check out Neoseeker's take on this open world title that's got the gaming community split in two (not an uncommon occurrence). See the verdict, leave some feedback, business as usual.
The Hype of Prototype has been huge for those wired to the Game Sites.
Loyal fans who have been anticipating this game for years were continuously disappointed by set backs in the release dates of the game, but many game reviews such as this one from NY Daily News have been arguing that this game just isn't that good.
As the war drags on between fans of Prototype who continuously keep reiterating that this is a great game even though Prototype does have jerky controls and a hard to gras...
"[PROTOTYPE], from now on referred to as Prototype, was released by Radical Entertainment on June 9, 2009 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Radical Entertainment is best known for Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, and The Simpsons: Hit and Run. This review is for the PS3 version of the game, which I played through to completion on normal difficulty, completing around half of the side missions, and unlocking most of the powers.
Prototype is an action based open-world superpower game. While some may ..."
Prototype is the long anticipated sandbox game which puts you in the shoes of Alex Mercer, a shape shifting experiment which can cause more damage in ten seconds than a ordinary man could in a hour. The game has been reviewed and IGN give you their verdict, the score being a average...7.5. The having some good gameplay, ideas and extras, but poor graphics, predictable missions and some control issues dragging it down, resulting in a rather unpolished title.
