Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction

Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction

"If you are new to the PlayStation 3 scene and are looking to catch up on a lot of the systems best offerings from years past, or you somehow managed to avoid the best games on the system, Sony's got you covered. Three of the console's biggest franchises, Resistance, Uncharted, and Ratchet & Clank, are now getting their very own box sets."

Insomniac Games, the developer behind the popular Resistance and Ratchet & Clank series, provides a vague status update to one of their future titles.

This week Best Buy is offering 2 for $50 several of Playstation 3 most popular games in 2 for $50 sale. Games include Grand Theft Auto IV, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction and several more.

"6:00 AM – Slice and dice, bub.
They start out with a pretty decent title, one of those cases where the game is better than the movie. X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

10:00 AM – If only Jack Ryan had his wings.
Out of all the clues, this is the only one that has me slightly confused. So I checked where all bargain gamers like myself would go, Cheap Ass Gamer. Most users are saying it is Tom Clancy’s HAWX, so I’m going to agree for now.

Another guess is Bioshock (based on “Jack Ryan” being in..."

The second wave of PS3 Greatest Hits and Platinum titles have just been released today. These games which are unique in having sold large amounts of copies in a limited time frame are sold for a low price of just $30, combining quality and a good price. Some examples include MGS4 and DMC4 among others, and just about all of these are both the worth the money at their price. The full list is below.

The extra content for LittleBigPlanet is still coming thick and strong, with no sign of letting up. Many games have made cameo's in the cooperative platformer, Playstation exclusive and not, and Ratchet and Clank appears to be next in line. The sources suggest it is substantial content, likely in line with the very well received Metal Gear Solid expansion pack.

"It looks as if we are in for a treat with upcoming Home Spaces from Insomniac Games. This time from the popular franchises of both Ratchet & Clank and Resistance."

Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time will like its predecessor rely heavily on its fanbase to make sure the game is what the people want. Similar to how in Tools of Destruction gamers got to choose what animal the transmorpher would turn enemies into, Insomniac have this time around started a Ratchet and Clank weapon contest, charging you with designing a weapon for the upcoming game. The winner naturally gets their weapon put in the game, as well as win a trip to San Diego for the inte...

The sequel's announcement was rumoured just hours ago, and would you believe it, the sequel has been confirmed and given a name. Coming this autumn to the stores (yes it's disk-based from what can be interpreted from the article) is the next R&C Game: Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time. See the full press release below.

"Insomniac Games, the developer behind the popular Ratchet and Clank and Resistance franchises, is teasing some big news for tomorrow, according to their official Twitter account. "Preparing to reveal some news tomorrow about Insomniac...shhh!", their latest update reads. Could it be the highly anticipated announcement of the next Ratchet and Clank game? Perhaps a downloadable episode of Resistance, similar to what they did with Quest for Booty? Or maybe even just some company related news?"

"Spoiler alert! A new Ratchet & Clank game is coming next year. Upon completing Quest for Booty -- the downloadable Ratchet & Clank episode due on PSN next week -- 1UP was rewarded with ... more Ratchet & Clank; at least, the reassurance that there'll be a ninth installment in the franchise. The teaser (pictured above) supposedly appears after the credits roll and all but confirms Insomniac's intent to keep churning out sequels every other fall (the series is turning just "six" in November!), ..."

Sony Australia have announced that the 'Platinum' selection will be arriving on Monday for the Australian market and will come at the down under price of $49.95. The titles that have been selected for this include Motorstorm, Resistance: Fall of Man, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Heavenly Sword and Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction.

With a successful Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction, Sony have announced that Ratchet and Clank will both be returning on on the console, however this time as a downloadable title from the Playstation Store. With no details other than the name (Translated name is "Ratchet & Clank: In Search of Treasure") be sure that more details will emerge shortly.

A few weeks ago a document was discovered which was apparently a schedule for PSN content. This list included such items as Warhawk: Operation Broken Mirror (already released), a update for Lair, a Resistance 2 trailer and a mystery item titled Ratchet: Quest for Booty. Due to some digging several of these items have been confirmed and as such the rest of list can be somewhat trusted.

IGN takes the concept of Super Smash Brothers and makes a list of the top characters for a PlayStation version of a multi franchise cross-over. While this is supposed to be a bit of a parody, the "Sony Skills" actually sound like they would work if a game like this was ever made. If they went the extra mile to get specific with each character's moves, it would make a perfectly legitimate rip off.

"Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has this week rolled the covers off what appears (at first glance) to be a rather tempting ‘Pick N Mix’ retail deal that will see UK consumers able to snaffle the PlayStation 3 and two games for a total price of £349.99 GBP. Image credit: MNgilen."

"Several prominent industry figures have recently been quoted in a Games Radar report as claiming that after a year of the PS3’s life cycle videogame developers are finally growing more accustomed to channelling the considerable capabilities hidden beneath its ominously rumbling hood."

"The critical popularity of flagship titles, mixed with continued fan attraction to established franchises and the introduction of valuable new IPs (intellectual properties), has also led to considerable commercial success. Software sales are on the rise to the tune of around $10.5 billion (through October) in the United States, while the UK gaming market has taken a total of around £1.52 billion during 2007."

"In the below video interview with two developers from Insomniac Games talk about creating Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction. In the interview they are asked about things they had to cut from the game, which gives some interesting hints at Ratchet & Clank Future 2 about 2:30 minutes in.

To quote the answer: “There were certain things in the story, characters that I wanted to address more in this part of the story arch that we’re not going to address until a later part of the stor..."

"At its core, Tools of Destruction seems to play like any Ratchet and Clank video game, with Ratchet busting up bad guys, tackling humongous bosses and collecting bolts to upgrade weapons. At this early stage, the game's graphics remain its most impressive feature. Built from the ground up on PlayStation 3 and powered by an overhauled proprietary engine, the game showcases sprawling and exquisitely detailed environments populated by an assorted cast of characters, mountains, oceans, fortresses..."
