"Red Steel 2 aims to increase public awareness of the series, whilst swaying the gaming community opinion. The game is a First-Person Shooter (FPS) in which players take on the role of a lonesome fighter who can engage in combat with his sword and gun at any time. Through the use of Wii MotionPlus, Red Steel 2 promises the most accurate recreation of sword based combat yet see in a videogame coupled with an all-new graphical style. The game is particularly intuitive: just pick up the controls ..."

"it's now 2010 and to help make realistic swordplay a reality, we have the Wii Motion+. Knowing this little accessory makes the Wii-mote more accurate and better emulates your body movements; Ubisoft knew what their first title would be to support this new instrument. Enter Red Steel 2. Take everything you know about Red Steel and throw it out the window. Remove that game from existence, because Red Steel 2 is what that game should have been. All the ambitious ideas are delivered upon and ever..."

The first Red Steel game was one of the most disappointing titles for the Wii's initial launch lineup due to inconsistent controls and uninspired gameplay. Now the sequel has finally arrived and relies on the Wii's MotionPlus enhancement. Does it really make the game better? We compare the two versions inside.

"Two interesting releases this week featuring games whose originals had some great concepts but weren't as good as they could have been. Just Cause 2 parachutes you on to another open-world island for mayhem and destruction while Red Steel 2 sends you to a wild west future with Wii MotionPlus support."

"After sitting down with Ubisoft Paris and playing through Red Steel 2, GameZone had the opportunity to discuss several topics on Red Steel 2 with the developers such as the gaming industry, the Xbox 360, feedback from fans on Red Steel 1 and much more."

The spring lineup for the Nintendo Wii is looking extremely promising with big-named games as well as lesser known but still great titles slated from March through May.

"About five minutes into Red Steel 2, you'll completely forget the disappointment of Red Steel. You'll forget the crapped out controls, throwaway plot, muddy graphics, and the rushed-to-completion feel of Red Steel's gameplay. All gamers wanted from Red Steel (and the Wii itself) was real-feeling sword action, and now, four years later, the Wii is delivering. Red Steel 2's sword combat actually works; playing it makes you feel like a katana master wielding a deadly razor blade. Big ups, Ubis..."

"Exploring the open-world environment, although linear in story progression, players can retrieve quests from the mission board. Once all missions are completed, a new area will open on the map to continue forth in the storyline. There are also option missions to aid in the exploration of the map to find chests, destroy objects and eliminate wanted posters of The Gunslinger."

"Remember back when we weren't even sure what Nintendo's next console was going to be named. All we knew was it would be something totally new, implementing motion control, and its code name: The Revolution."

Keep in mind they don't cover every game. Just those they deem will be either good or interesting.

"The Nintendo Wii is currently the top console on the market this generation, and Nintendo and its third-party publishers are going to make sure that it stays on top of the game. There will be plenty of new titles to play this year -- sequels to popular franchises as well as new IPs, both on retail disk as well as digital download -- so don't think for a second that it'll be a "sparse" and "light" 2010 when it comes to Wii gaming.

Here's a quick look at the games we're most looking forward ..."

"Ubisoft has today announced that the highly-anticipated sequel to Wii’s hit-and-miss launch title, Red Steel 2, is set to arrive at European retail on 26th March 2010, and with that comes a slew of new details. Amongst the most revealing is a brand new question and answer session with Red Steel 2’s creative director Jason Vandenberghe."

Having official release windows for many of the publishers’ upcoming highlights will certainly allow for those waiting with baited breath to organise their finances accordingly. The full release schedule follows below, and Electronic Theatre will keep you updated with all the latest from Ubisoft."

"As of this writing, we’re already three weeks into 2010. The “new” year is already practically ancient, and pretty soon we’ll have run out of time to make wild, erratic, entirely factual predictions about things that will happen over the next 11 months. So with January nearly over, we’re going for the jugular and answering the question that’s on everyone’s mind: between the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and PC, which gaming platform will claim victory by the end of this year.

Experts antici..."

"Whilst playing through certain things became evident soon enough. For instance, the interaction in this game is going to be largely through weapons. Need to open a door? Shoot off the hinges. Need to get through a garden? Chop the shit out of it with your sword. Need to swat a fly? Light the fuse on the nearby cannon."

"In the latest Dev Diary, Red Steel 2 developer Jason Vandenberghe explains why this game will actually take skill as opposed to waggle.

“We’ve beaten the waggle, you can’t play like this. Controls are at the center of play, and if you don’t get controls right first, nothing after that matters. The promise with Red Steel 2 is to bring swordfighting to the Wii, and with MotionPlus it brings that promise to life.""

Ubisoft have just announced through a press release of their 2009-10 Q1 sales, that two major releases for this year are being pushed back. Both, Splinter Cell: Conviction and Red Steel 2, will be seeing releases in fiscal Q4, which translates to anywhere between January and March of next year. Their press release also details why they've done poorly, but they say that they have plenty of upcoming titles on the horizon to look forward to, such as Assassin's Creed II.

"This year’s E3 was a feast for the eyes, showing off some very impressive games for all three major home consoles. While the Microsoft and Sony E3 press conferences were stuffed full of gaming goodness, the Nintendo press conference seems to be left in the dust. If you actually look at what Nintendo has coming out for the “hardcore” you will realize they are doing a better job of tailoring towards that crowd that they have in the past. Don’t believe me? then feast your eyes on this amazing li..."

"Red Steel 2 looks great and plays brilliantly. The Wii MotionPlus has allowed Ubisoft to create the game that many had hoped the original Red Steel was going to be. Sword movement is truly 1:1, combat is fluid and enjoyable, gunplay is satisfying, and the setting is intriguing. Despite being scheduled for a late 2009 launch, RS2 is also showing an impressive level of polish. Christmas 2009 can’t come soon enough!"
