Today Capcom announced its lineup for the 2010 Penny Arcade Expo, which kicks off at 10 AM in Seattle this Friday, September 3. The list includes Okamiden, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Dead Rising 2, and more.

Capcom has updated their best-selling franchises list with the latest sales figures for Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Mega Man, Monster Hunter and more.

For a while it has been rumored that a new producer will take charge of Resident Evil 6.

Now, it has been confirmed.

Capcom's Jun Takeuchi has revealed that he will not be returning to create the next title in the RE series.

"As we reported yesterday, Sony is adding new games to the "Greatest Hits" collection. However, Sony has now confirmed that there are ten games getting added and not just the five that were showin in the Wal-Mart flyer. Expect to start seeing the fancy new red boxes and $29.99 prices at retailers in the next couple of weeks."

Capcom recently released the DLC Lost in Nightmares for Resident Evil 5, and it was well received my fans who loved the classic spooky nostalgia. This follow up DLC, called Desperate Escape, goes off in a very different direction, and focuses squarely on nonstop combat. Once again, Capcom has delivered a great experience.

"B.S.A.A. agents, Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine have tracked down the location of Umbrella founder Ozwell E. Spencer’s mansion. Previously only told through cut scenes in Resident Evil 5, players now can experience the events that lead up to Jill’s “death”.

With the purchase of Lost in Nightmares, you'll also receive 2 extra characters for Mercenaries Reunion."

"For a limited time, you'll get three Xbox 360 Platinum Hits for the price of two. Offer valid February 7, 2010 through February 13, 2010, or while supplies last, when shipped and sold by Amazon.com. Limit one free Platinum Hit per household. To qualify, check out with three of the Xbox 360 Platinum Hits listed below in your cart. The price of the third qualifying Platinum Hit of equal or lesser value will be discounted during check out."

Resident Evil 5 is on sale at Newegg.com for $19.99 (Xbox 360 version)) and $24.95 (PlayStation 3 version) This more than 50% off retail price and the best price ever available for this game.

"After an initial update earlier today – promising good things for the future of the service – the full v3.2 revision is now available, adding further titles to the Games on Demand launch line-up. In addition to the likes of Resident Evil 5 and the bargain that is Viva Piñata, FallOut 3, Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, Section 8 and ShadowRun are all now available also. FallOut 3 is priced at £34.99, while Section 8 is offered for £29.99."

"It was announced last week that the PC videogames client from Microsoft, Games for Windows – LIVE, would be receiving a Games on Demand service similar to that launched earlier this year in Xbox 360 prior to the year’s end. And now, Electronic Theatre can bring you the full details on the launch line-up, and a freebie offered to early birds."

"Following the announcement of a price-slash for the PlayStation 3 version of Resident Evil 5’s Versus Mode, Capcom Europe have today announced that the Xbox 360 version will be following suit. Xbox LIVE Gold members will be able to download the additional gameplay mode for only 240 Microsoft Points from today."

"Capcom Europe has today revealed a new promotion for hugely successful Resident Evil 5. Released earlier this year, Resident Evil 5 dominated the charts upon arrival and has since been picked by many as the Action title of the year. Now, players with access to PlayStation Store can extend their Resident Evil 5 experience for less."

Resident Evil 5 became the best-selling Resident Evil game within a few weeks of it's release, so it's no surprise that Capcom have plans for a Resident Evil 6.
At this year's Tokyo Game Show, Capcom's Jun Takeuchi told Kotaku that they haven't yet decided who the producer of RE6 will be, so it sounds like Capcom either haven't started on RE6 yet, or are in the very early stages of production.

"Well, we now know what that "Resident Evil 5: Director's Cut" stuff was all about. It's a re-release of Res 5, built to take advantage of Sony's upcoming motion controller.

The game will be out in Spring 2010, ad it's far from the only existing PS3 title to take advantage of the new peripheral. During SCEJ's TGS press conference, Sony's Shuhei Yoshida revealed that the controller will also work with exsting games like LittleBigPlanet, EyePet, Flower, Pain, High Velocity Bowling "and more"."

"“We’re talking about it. I don’t know if you have seen some of the threads on Capcom Unity, but questions came up on whether we are going to do any more,” said [Capcom’s Christian Svensson]. “I asked what people would want to see and that spawned a thread that was literally hundreds of posts long and had tens of thousands of views.""

"With the news of the official restructuring of the Xbox 360 pricing strategy yesterday, it appears that retailers are beginning to take action with their existing stock. Electronic Theatre contacted a number of UK high street retailers today, both national chains and independent retailers, and discovered some quite shocking results."

"The highly anticipated PC release of Capcom’s Resident Evil 5 is expected to hit UK high street shelves on September 18th, 2009, and to appease those waiting with baited breath to sample the flagship Survival Horror series in it’s newly revealed true-3D glory, Capcom have released the full system specification requirements needed in order to experience the game at it’s best."

Resident Evil 5 Spoilers Ahead!

Albert Wesker has been the primary antagonist of the Resident Evil series for over ten years and has always had an uncanny ability to return from the dead. So many fans were left wondering whether he'd show up in future RE games, despite his demise at the end of Resident Evil 5.

Today Resident Evil's producer Masachika confirmed that Wesker is indeed gone for good. "There's no chance he's coming back from that," Kawata said.

I'll believe that when I se...

"Extra features for the PC version include new costumes, an improved mercenaries mode with three times as many enemies and the inclusion of NVIDIA’s new GeForce 3D Vision technology. The wireless 3D Vision glasses are sold separately."

"Further pursuing this chain of though, Lowe was later questioned on the importance of each the Causal and Hardcore demographics, to which he stated that there’s significance in both: “For every Carnival Games there is a BioShock and for every Wii Fit there is a Resident Evil 5.""

PC gamers planning on picking up Street Fighter IV this summer at retail may want to be aware of the digital rights management scheme Capcom will be implementing, which their community person Christian Svensson revealed today.

The game will feature disc-based SecuROM, requiring the game disc to be in the tray. Also, by the looks of the cover, Games for Windows LIVE will be required, too, though no word on whether online authentication will be used there.

"Capcom's Chief Financial Officer, Kazuhiko Abe, has offered a glimmer of hope for Wii owners hoping to some day see a downgraded release of PS3 and 360 games on the system.

While highlighting stronger-than-expected sales of Resident Evil 5, Abe says "We have not decided whether we are doing it or not doing it". "It" being releasing 360 & PS3 games on the Wii. Not decided?"

""We'll definitely be looking at a lot of titles that have things like Street Fighter and Resident Evil in the title," Kramer said. "We're thinking about putting together a long list of the titles we're looking at, and then releasing it on Capcom Unity and having people vote on them. Ultimately we're looking at bringing between 20 and 40 titles to the PSN over the next several months.""

"Capcom has today announced that three of its blockbuster hit console games of 2009 will be coming to the PC beginning this summer. Bionic Commando, Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5 will all be coming to the PC."

It's a topic that has come up on various gaming sites recently... Many so-called "survival-horror" titles of this generation (such as Dead Space and Resident Evil 5) are taking more action-oriented routes to attract a larger audience, thus losing the "survival" aspect that many older horror games were known for.

But is survival horror slowly disappearing? Or is it simply evolving and adaptaing to suit a more mainstream audience? And if that's the case, is this change for the better?

Capcom's vice president of corporate development and strategic planning, Christian Svensson, has rebuked claims that Resident Evil 5's DLC was just a "key" that unlocked the DLC that was already on the disc.

According to Svensson, the DLC "uses assets from the disc (like levels, models, audio, etc.) but the code is new and does not exist on the disc."

"Load up yer muskets! Yesterday, Capcom finally released the long-awaited ( ::snickers:: ) RE5 Versus mode on the PSN and XBLA.

But wait! Judging from the itty-bitty file size of the newly-launched DLC, gamers are led to believe they’re merely buying an unlock code for the content, contrary to Capcom’s insistence that the content is a new feature separate from the package sold in stores."

"Resident Evil 5 has performed as would be expected at UK retail – amazingly well. Not only did Capcom’s latest entrant into hugely successful Survival Horror franchise go straight to the top of the UK multiformat charts, but in fact current reports suggest the biggest ever sales peak for week-one of a release in the videogames industry"

In theory, Capcom's Resident Evil 5 launch stunt was a fairly good and unique idea... Fake bloodied body parts were strewn across the city and avid RE fans had to search for them in hopes of winning a trip to Africa.

In reality, it didn't quite go according to plan, with limbs going missing, police being called and the entire stunt almost being out to a stop. Go to the source for the full article.

Give some blood, test your luck.

"Electronic Theatre has recently received an interesting communication from Capcom. There have been many unique marketing campaigns to raise awareness for the launch of a videogame in the past year; Electronic Arts made traffic-stopping headlines with their free-fuel giveaway supporting Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, a fountain in Central London become home to a parade of plastic marsupials thanks to 505 Games and the launch of My Pet Dolphin 2, and there was undoubtedly many superstitious fe..."

Bad news for Capcom. It looks like Resident Evil 5 has been leaked onto the 'net just days before it's release. It was only leaked a few hours ago, and already many gaming sites have full plot summaries and spoiler footage from the game splattered across their sites. So if you are a Resident Evil fan, you might want to stay away from forums until you get your hands on the game.

This isn't the first time thing has happened to one of Capcom's highly anticipatd games. Last year the PC version...

"In addition to the eagerly anticipated limited edition exclusive, blood red Xbox360 Elite Resident Evil 5 Bundle announced earlier this week, Microsoft have revealed that fans across Europe will also be able to purchase the red controller and matching Play & Charge Kit (featuring charging cable and matching red rechargeable battery) as a limited edition bundle for an estimated retail price of £39.99."

If you are a Wii owner who has been hoping that Capcom will port Resident Evil 5 to Wii, then prepare to be disappointed.
In a recent interview, Resident Evil 5's producer Jun Takeuchi revaled that there was no chance of the game being made for the Wii because the development team wanted "the most powerful, most pretty game". Ouch.

"In celebration of the landmark Resident Evil franchise coming to Xbox360 for the first time, Microsoft unveiled today an Xbox360 Resident Evil Limited Edition Console Bundle. Available in Europe the same day Resident Evil 5 ships to store shelves, Friday, 13th March, Xbox360 fans will be able to pick up the bundle featuring an exclusive red Xbox360 from select retailers."

Need incentive to buy Resident Evil 5? Well, this probably won't help then. Gamespot managers who break launch night sales quotas go in the running to win an official RE5 jersey.

But where's the incentive for customers to buy from Gamespot? I'm sure sales would go up if gamers got a little something extra for shopping in certain stores.

"“Resident Evil 5” producer Jun Takeuchi had a quick and certain answer for me today when I asked him if undead Capcom franchises “Resident Evil” and “Dead Rising” will ever cross over: “No!”

Why can’t these zombies mix? “We can’t have a ‘Resident Evil’ character running around in just pants.” (Which, you know, is what goes on in “Dead Rising.”)"

The RE5 racism ball just keps on rollin'. Resident Evil 5's producer Masachika Kawata recently denied that the game had been changed to add more white and Asian people after the racism claims began. He was surprised when questioned about the racist imagery, admitting that he hadn't realized the game would spark up such controversy.

Are you wondering what free goodies you get when you pre-order Resident Evil 5? To add to the crazy merchandise Capcom have already released for the game, the free pre-order gift is ... a snow globe! (Or rather, a sand globe).

Y'know... it's just random and silly enough for me to want it.

The Resident Evil 5 racism issue was revived again last week, but what do the people who helped make the game think of it all? LA Times asked two of the game's black voice-actors Karen Dyer (who plays Sheva Alomar) and T.J Storm (who plays Delta commander Josh Stone) what they thought of the whole racism issue. Here was their response ...

"If all of the junk that comes in the collector's edition of RE5 isn't enough to satisfy, you can scoop up a bluetooth headset ($50), or a loud messenger bag (also $50). It's okay to love games, folks, but unless the message you're trying to convey is punch me in the face and take my wallet on this subway car, we suggest you leave the messenger bag at home.

Look for it on shelves on March 17."

"“The fun doesn’t end when you complete RE5’s main story-line,” comments the review. “We’re sworn to secrecy, but we’ve had a peek at an unlockable mode for forthcoming DLC, and it’s awesome.”

Thus far, Capcom have done no hinting at what the possible DLC could be, but if the mag is so secretive about the content, it should certainly be a lot better than a handful of unlockable costumes."

It's been almost a year since the claims that Resident Evil 5 is racist died down. Fans everywhere breathed a sigh of relief when the issue was finally forgotten about.
But with the recent release of the demo, it seems there are a few game-sites that aren't too happy with the racist themes and imagery that appear in the game.
And so, once again, the racism debate rears it's ugly head.

"Capcom plans on supporting PlayStation Home in a big way. Famitsu has revealed brand new Home content based on Capcom's upcoming games, Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5. SFIV will receive a post-release patch that will allow players to meet in Home and then jump directly into a Street Fighter match."

It has been one week since the Resident Evil 5 demo was released on Xbox Live and already 1.8 million people have downloaded it. That's good news for Capcom!

As you can see, not only will the Boob Locator re-center the camera on Sheva's cans, it will also circle her bazongas with a reticle and then, if you are still unclear as to the precise location of her funbags, it will reposition her knockers in better lighting so that you can always be 100 percent certain of where Sheva's sweater balloons are at all times."

It seems PS3 owners get screwed again with multi platform games. Its understandable for a game to have 500MB install, or even 1.5GB install, but 5GB?! Thats just ridicules.

If you look through the back of the boxart, its faint but can be made out. It says you need about 5000MB of HDD space for install.

While the argument about buying a bigger HDD can be brought up, but that doesn't change the fact that developers shouldn't require such huge installs. Like mentioned earlier, at least 1...

It just says "corporation" and "umbrella." Umbrella. Corporation. Doesn't that just have a nice ring to it? Really. What more could you want from an umbrella?"

Videogame company Capcom have a great line up of titles this year, Resident Evil 5 and Street Fighter IV just the tip of the iceberg. I would dare say this is thanks to Capcom for choosing to release the demo for Resident Evil 5 in Japan and no where else right away, that led to people posting torrents of the demo file so they could play, which has now led to people reading the code contained within the files. Gun types, enemies, items, and even level information is now public, and lots of it. Remember though, SPOILERS! Read at your own discretion.

Resident Evil fans have been split down the middle regarding Resident Evil 5, with many loving the series' more action-oriented shift, while others want the series to return to it's survival-horror roots.
It seems that ex-Resident Evil creator, Shinji Mikami, agrees with the latter groups, claiming that he won't play Resident Evil 5 because "it's not going to be the game I would have made".

Capcom recently voiced it's concerns over the potential "smear campaign" that the media may make against its upcoming games, (particularly Resident Evil 5 and Dead Rising Wii), due to the violence and gore that appears in those titles.

Capcom worry that "in the event of violent incidents and other criminal cases involving juveniles, we may be subject to a smear campaign by some sections of the mass media which often point out the correlation between crime and games".

After revealing their Q1 results, Capcom held a Q&A session. While Capcom got further into the session, they said there not worried about any game giving RE5 a run for its money simply because it will be better.

"Capcom has promised that Resident Evil 5 is not about to shy away from gore in a bid to get a lower age certification.

“We’re never going to create a gore-free Resident Evil title to try and get a lower rating as it’s a game about the horror experience and gore is part of that,” said Rhys Cash, Capcom UK's research and planning manager.

Despite Capcom claiming that Resident Evil 5 was not redesigned after Racism claims, it seems they have now bowed under pressure and decided to add more white characters to the game. It is especially noticeable that the racism claims got to them, as the game is set in an area of Africa where it wouldn't be likely to see white villagers.

Bad news for Resident Evil fans. Richard Waugh, the popular and longest-running voice actor for the series' antagonist Albert Wesker, has been officially dropped by Capcom, as the company has decided that they want to hire non-union actors for future games.

So who will play the role of Wesker in RE5? D.C. Douglass, Wesker's not-so-popular copycat voice actor from Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles.

Capcom is doing anything to get rid of the racism claims that have been surrounding Resident Evil 5 since it's first trailer was released.

First Capcom revealed the apparent reasons for RE5's setting in Africa, then they announced that the game has not been redesigned after the racism issues arose.

Now, in a recent interview with producer Jun Takeuchi, Capcom are claiming they had "no choice" but to set Resident Evil 5 in Africa.

"Capcom producer Jun Takeuchi has said that Resident Evil 5's main development platform is the PC. When Eurogamer asked Takeuchi why Capcom was showing the Xbox 360 build of Resident Evil 5 instead of the PlayStation 3 verseion at Capcom's Captivate 08 event, Takeuchi said that since Capcom was asked to show RE5 up and running on a console, due to their hardware similarities it was just faster to port the PC build over to the Xbox 360."

Capcom have released new screenshots of Resident Evil 5, plus some renders of the "mysterious woman" partner (and she has been officially dubbed). Her name hasn't been revealed yet, nor has her purpose in the game. At least we can now safely confirm that she isn't Claire or Jill.

The new zombie screens also show an odd ability that the enemies will use against you: Face sucking!

After the release of Resident Evil 5's first trailer, claims of racism ran rife, with many people claiming that the black characters were depicted as "inhuman savages".

But with the release of a new trailer there was a noticeable difference in the game's tone. Chris now had a black side-kick, and both white and black people were portrayed as enemies. So was the game redesigned after the racism claims? Capcom says it wasn't ...

"Like all thinking people, we're anxiously awaiting the release of Resident Evil 5, if only to learn more of the back story of coat-opening shop guy. Though we don't know when we'll finally get our hands on it, after last week's Captivate 08, we at least know that things are progressing."

With Resident Evil 5 coming along, the Producer, Jun Takeuchi has gone to state how the Sixaxis controller is not a viable option for aiming in Resident Evil 5... however it should be noted that the comment is in response to a question asking if it would be possible to use the PS3 controller in a similar fashion to how the WiiMote was used in RE4: Wii Edition.

However the sensitivity issues for something like that aside, Takeuchi went on to express his fondness for the system calling it "g...

Kotaku recently got their hands on a playable demo of Resident Evil 5 and they were impressed. Players familiar with RE4's gameplay style will feel right at home with RE5, with much of the gameplay being similar to the previous entry into the series...

"Mysterious countdowns have been aplenty as of late. The last really memorable one was when Siren was unveiled. Now we've got another one; this time it's for Resident Evil 5. Spotted at ResidentEvil.com, this countdown still has over 50 hours to go at the time of this writing. Of course, we don't know what it is for. That's the nature of these mysterious countdowns.

Is there going to be more news on RE5 or is this just the grand opening for the site? Most likely it's the latter, but keep yo..."

"Capcom has unveiled that it plans to bring Resident Evil 5 out simultaneously for Xbox 360 and PS3 before the end of its financial year '08, which ends April.

The news comes straight out of the company's latest financial report and also lists Bionic Commando and MotoGP 08 as planned releases before the end of FY 08.

It's worth noting that the financial year ends next April. Looking back over past release dates, Resident Evil 4 came out in January and March in Japan and Europe respective..."

"Japan’s Famitsu magazine recently conducted a video interview with Jun Takeuchi, the producer of Resident Evil 5, and we now have the video complete with English subs for your viewing pleasure! In addition to the interview, the video include a brief introduction into the history of the Resident Evil series, many first-ever shots of actual gameplay, and also includes some behind the scenes development sneak peeks.

Last year Resident Evil 5 was criticized for being racist due to the trailer depicting African zombies as inhumane savages. The furor eventually calmed down once it was explained why the game is not intended to be racist.

However, the debate has reared it's head again, due to an interview with gaming journalist N’Gai Croal. This time it's not about the portrayal of African zombies, but rather the racist imagery that appears in the trailer- involving both the human and non-human Africans.

"The only thing that keeps me from getting too jealous over this is the fact that some dear person will have that DVD posted online within the first hour it is made public. Thank you Al Gore for inventing such a wonderful thing called the Internet."

Following the success of the Resident Evil redesign that is Resident Evil 4, Capcom seems quick to cash in once again with Resident Evil 5. It looks as though they are aiming for a pre-holiday release, as soon as October.

Now I am a diehard RE fan and I can't say I'm too fond of RE4 as far as RE games go. RE4 is a great game on it's own if I tell myself it's not apart of my beloved series. But like I said, as RE games go, it's too different for my liking. Why they couldn't have just start...

In the recent Famitsu issue here are the top 20 games most wanted from Japan's biggest games magazine. It's a really interesting list as what dominates the list in being No.1 is Dragon Quest IX for the Nintendo DS and then followed by Final Fantasy XIII which was at No.1. Third place comes the highly anticipated Resident Evil 5. A list containing top notch games. Too bad only one game from 360 makes it.

Forget the racist comments against Capcom's Resident Evil 5 and how they are biased to black people. Living people can defend themselves, but dead people cannot. Dead people are innocent, laying there peacefully and Capcom comes along to rip all that out of them, suddenly making them evil. Sure you can say "Well, they're dead. So what?" In reality, they make dead people look bad. It's not a matter on what colour the dead person is, it's a matter on why they're staggering towards you, set on o...

A little while ago, you may have heard the article on Resident Evil 5 being racist. Richard Windsor of Aeropause has written a little article on why the reasonings are pointless and wrong.

First of all, it's developed by the Japanese and the Japanese are not racist to black people. Second, there are white zombies and the woman that wrote the article said that killing white zombies is fine. Third, zombies are not civilized, so obviously, they need variety. Fourth, the game is set in Africa...

"The new Resident Evil video game depicts a white man in what appears to be Africa killing Black people. The Black people are supposed to be zombies and the white man's job is to destroy them and save humanity…

This is problematic on so many levels, including the depiction of Black people as inhuman savages, the killing of Black people by a white man in military clothing, and the fact that this video game is marketed to children and young adults. Start them young... fearing, hating, and des..."

Games Radar has come up with 5 reasons why the Resident Evil 5 trailer sent their hairs upright and made them look behind them in fear. The reasons, in short, are as follows.

First is how savage the mob of enemies are in the game. Second is that there is no hiding place. You can hide, but they'll come in and get you through windows or broken doors. Third, is the megaphone man with the gimp. He bosses seem tough, mean and ready to kill you. Then, there's Chris Redfield, the guy who can mov...

Resident Evil 5 was certainly one of the more hard-hitting games to be showcased at the recent E3 Media & Business Summit in Santa Monica. For those who didn't attend, and who weren't lucky enough to see the creepy trailer in ALL its gory glory... the wait is over. Visit GamerSquad for the full, unedited trailer. Shudder!

Famitsu recently released a magazine that featured a section on Resident Evil 5 which showcased many new screens and information. Unfortunately the information has not been translated but the screens are there for your viewing pleasure.

Edit: July 22| For a description of what it says, "supreme kai" has posted it in the forums what it translates to be located here.

Keiji "the Killa" head of game development at Capcom explains to everyone why Devil May Cry 4 is no longer a Playstation 3 exclusive. It's got nothing to do with money according to the article, but Capcom one of the most successful gaming company's just found a method of creating games on more than just one console simultaneously.

Keiji also comments on why most publishers are now happy with how the E3 is, but that's not all he also talks about other games being developed by Capcom.

Most of you who have seen the trailer would have guessed it already. Yes the guy in the trailer is in fact former S.T.A.R.S member Chris Redfield. Now working for an organization by the name of BSAA he is sent to the location on the trailer to investigate happenings there. It is unknown whether his intentions are for good or evil, but one thing this game will do is unravel more mystery's from RE4 that were not resolved.
