Survival Horror games have really taken a turn from where they started. Graphics and detail have improved dramatically, but they don't really give you a legitimate fright. I explore games that have done it well and others that have done it not so well. We can get better experiences, we just need to make sure the developers know what we want.
"The biggest offender is the Call of Duty series. $15 for 3-4 multiplayer maps. That just makes me laugh, then I get sad because there are people out there that actually buy it. And that is the reason why they charge that price. They KNOW they can get it because the same people will mindlessly open their wallets and snag the new content. (Just a quick mini rant on Map Packs in general. A rant inside a rant? Talk about mind blowing. Depending on how a map pack is implemented it can completely r..."
Zombies have been added to games like Call of Duty and Red Dead Redemption, and it has resulted in some, fresh interesting gameplay. Here are five more games that could benefit from the addition of the undead.
The Playstation Move was released in North America on September 17th. Here are the top five video games to buy with the new motion controller for the Playstation 3.
"Now when most people think of sexually attractive characters in gaming, they usually assume it’s only female characters. Developers know that the men of gaming also have to “look good” too. That’s why we’ve sprinkled in a couple of the hottest men in video games as well."
"When it comes to gaming, one thing is for sure, we like our female leads to be tough. The ability to kick zombie butt is always a bonus too. That's why this week we've chosen a character who's both tough and considered to be quite attractive in addition to knowing exactly how to handle herself when dealing with a possible zombie apocolypse. Like Jill Valentine before her, we've picked a lead from the world of corporations named after wet weather gear and viruses named after letters. This week..."
The pack shots for the two Playstation Move bundles in Japan, Big 3 Gun Shooting Perfect Pack and Biohazard 5: Alternative Edition Special Pack, have been revealed.
"I didn’t get a chance to play every PlayStation Move game at E3 but the few that I did gave me a good idea of what I could expect from the Move. For those who don’t know what the PS Move is, its Sony’s new motion control peripheral. Working in conjunction with the PlayStation Eye (camera), the Move controller with the ball at the end of it can sense almost every movement the player makes. I was able to test out the Move playing Time Crisis: Razing Storm, Resident Evil 5 and Tiger Woods PGA To..."
In their latest fiscal report, Capcom comments about the sales performaces from their recent games including Monster Hunter Tri, Bionic Commando, Dark Void and more.
GameZone's Brian Rowe explores the two recent downloadable content packages for Capcom's Resident Evil 5. The video showcases the perks and downfalls of each DLC.
Resident Evil 5 was a smash hit for Capcom when released early last year. In this review, Ian Crane from All Age Gaming looks at the latest downloadable episode for the game, Desperate Escape. Following on from the first DLC, Lost in Nightmares, is Desperate Escape worth revisiting this title once again? Find out after the jump.
"This week's now shipping will bring a fantasy game like no other that finally see's its debut in North America and Europe, the chinese mafia and a good amount of downloads to keep you busy for awhile."
"Once again gamers who simply played Resident Evil 5 will be a little out of their element but not as much as they would be in Lost in Nightmares. Resident Evil 4's style is all over Desperate Escape but in turn that's very similar to Resident Evil 5's."
Gametrailers have reviewed the recently released Resident Evil 5 DLC, Desperate Escape and Lost In Nightmares. So are they worth the $5 price tag? See below to find out...
"Whether you'll like Desperate Escape or not depends on how much action you're looking for.
If you were one of those people that didn't exactly enjoy Lost in Nightmares (I know you're out there) due to it's lack of action, then you'll be pleased to know that Desperate Escape is completely different."
"After Jill Valentine is rescued by Chris Redfield, he leaves her to finish his mission. Find out how she made it out on her own, and what role Josh Stone played in her escape."
"Resident Evil 5: Lost In Nightmares provides a pleasantly uneasy return to the style of Resident Evil 1, and adds as a bonus a re-mixed version of the series popular score-attack mode Mercenaries, with a slew of new franchise characters. There is good and just varied enough content here for the Resident Evil fan. If you didn't like RE5 you might even like this — if you don't mind your games to be in fighting trim and a little lacking in the human charm department."
"It took a game with a name as big as Resident Evil to push God Eater from the top spot on the sales charts. Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition debuted on the PS3 last week and topped the charts, pushing God Eater into second place. God Eater had claimed the top spot for the two weeks prior.
1. Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition (Capcom, PS3)
2. God Eater (Namco Bandai, PSP)
3. New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Nintendo, Wii)
4. Dragon Quest VI (Square Enix, DS)
5. Friend Collection (Nintendo, DS)"
"Originally meant to be in the game, this content was not finished and cut from the final version to add co-op into the game.”Lost in Nightmares” brings you back to that faithful day that Jill was said to be presumably dead and was only really shown in cut-scenes. The nostalgia is here, with an added mode via mercenaries reunion, it brings back some familiar extra’s. Fans of the series will surely want to get their hands on this."
"Lost in Nightmares is a very sweet experience. The folks at Capcom seemed to have made the perfect formula to have the new "action" style of Resident Evil be terrifying, full of atmosphere and dread, and be enthralling fun you can't peel yourself away from. If they were going to make Resident Evil 6 like this, I would have no objections.
From the get go you get a very nostalgic feeling, with Chris and Jill outside a familiar shaped mansion and Jill proving herself yet again to be the maste..."
"With Alternative Edition (Gold Edition overseas), it looks like we'll be seeing a return for the classic camera system. No, Capcom hasn't reworked the full game for play via a static camera. Famitsu reports, however, that the game's new Lost in Nightmares scenario will offer players a classic RE-style camera system. You'll apparently be able to select to use this different camera system, although it's not yet clear how this is done.

With this, the classic camera system, and the mansion ..."

If only I could take mercenary characters to the story mode!!
Famitsu recently reviewed three big upcoming titled - Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition, MAG and Dante's Inferno... and they enjoyed all of them, giving them all scores in the 30s (out of 40).
You may have heard rumors floating around the 'net that these two characters would be returning for Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition's Mercenaries Reunion. Well, it has been confirmed by Famitsu.
So who exactly is returning? Look below.

"Capcom Entertainment has released some new screenshots and artwork from Desperate Escape and Mercenaries Reunion, part of the upcoming Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition retail pack. This content will also be available as digital downloads from Xbox LIVE Marketplace and PlayStation Network, starting this February."
When Capcom announced that there would be a new batch of Mercenary characters in Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition, who was expecting Excella to be one of them? I certainly wasn't. Judging by her minor appearances in the game's main plot, she isn't much of a fighter.
But it has been announced that the ample-chested Tricell boss will indeed be one of the new playable characters.
Also, here are the latest screenshots for the game.
Remember the uproar last year when fans discovered that Resident Evil 5's DLC was already on the disc?
Well, it seems a similar thing has happened with the upcoming content in the Gold Edition.
Director Yasuhiro Anpo revealed in his latest blog that the extra missions, costumes and characters were originally planned as extras on the main RE5 disc, but due to costs and the complexity behind making new cutscenes, they ended up having to cut it and later sell it as DLC.

"Capcom Entertainment has today launched the official website for the forthcoming Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition. Set to be available at retail in March, Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition features the entire of Resident Evil 5, along with two brand new chapters and much more."
Capcom have revealed the second downloadable episode for Resident Evil 5. In 'Desperate Escape' you join Jill Valentine and BSAA Agent Josh Stone as they escape from the Tricell facility. More details and release dates are also revealed.
You know what Resident Evil 5 needed? More sexy outfits! In the Gold Edition (a.k.a Alternative Edition) DLC, we get just that, in the form of Chris's 'Warrior' gear and Sheva's 'Fairy Tale' costume. If you're going to take on hoardes of zombies, you may as well look sexy while doing it!
Here they are in action...
Capcom have updated the official Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition site with the first images of a nasty looking enemy that will be appearing in the DLC. The page description mentions that the monster is a "hideous creature of the flesh. It is easily angered and will hunt down any intruder with it's heavy key-like weapon."
Unfortunately, there still isn't any sign of good ol' fashioned zombies. Oh well, a girl can hope :)

"Last week Capcom revealed that the hugely successful Resident Evil 5 for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 would receive new Downloadable Content (DLC). Today, Capcom have confirmed plans to release two new downloadable episodes, a host of new costumes, and a new The Mercenaries Reunion mode, featuring eight new playable characters and weapon load-outs."
You know what Resident Evil 5 was missing? Chris in a sexy outfit! Sheva got her scant Tribal outfit, but poor Chris had to suffer under the hot African sun (and the weight of his ridiculous muscles) in a heavy special-agent uniform. But with the game's new Alternative Edition DLC, us girls get to dress Chris in a lovely new "Warrior" outfit. (a.k.a Bondage gear).
Here we also get a closer look at the downloadable Jill and Chris "Lost in Nightmares" mansion mission. It sure brings back mem...
"You can try to forget the fear but it will never go away. Capcom of Europe has confirmed that Resident Evil 5: The Alternative Edition, a “director’s cut” of this years’ incredibly successful Resident Evil 5, will see a European release early next year. In addition, the title has also been confirmed for a North American release."
In Japan Resident Evil 5 Alternative Edition "will be released as a new physical package, with all that entails: new box art, new manual, new shiny disc, another plastic box to add to a tottering stack of console games".
But America and Europe might not be as eager to pay full price for a game that is essentially Resident Evil 5 with a few add-ons.
So Capcom are asking it's fans: How do YOU want the new content? In a completely new package? DLC? Something else?
Go to the source to cast ...
IGN gives out the full details of the Alternative Edition of Resident Evil 5, which will support Sony's wand, and confirms that the extra episode will indeed be the mansion shown in a few of the flashbacks in the game- where you will play as Chris and Jill, trying to find Wesker. Apparently, the mission was supposed to be a DLC pack, but was made exclusive to the alternative edition because of size constraints- though, Capcom, being Capcom, you can expect the mission to be available as DLC la...
