"Umbrella just won’t die, will it? Yes, Capcom’s zombie series epic Resident Evil is as perpetual as the zombie virus in those poor people of Raccoon City. Resident Evil 4 remains one of the most intense survival horror experiences ever designed, but Capcom has been tossing the license around quite a bit these days. Whether it’s movies or HD re-releases, the Resident Evil name is the mark of fame for zombie outbreaks. With Resident Evil 6 on the way, Capcom let another studio take the reins of..."
"Today sees the launch of Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City on PC, arriving nearly two months after its console counterpart. A multiplayer-orientated title, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City has received mixed reviews on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but very little has yet been said about the PC version."
"GamingUnion: "Somehow, we're at this point already. Compiling a 'Most Disappointing' list so early in the calendar year speaks to the sorry state of affairs within the console space right now - not to mention the surprise Spring Drought currently giving gamers too much free time to connect with loved ones, or whatever one does away from their screen of choice.""
"The Resident Evil series is arguably the most acclaimed and recognisable name within the horror genre of gaming. Capcom have an unparalleled amount of pride in their long-running franchise, so it’s strange that they’d hand over the development of a Resident Evil title to another studio..."
Round-up of new screenshots from Borderlands 2, Mario Tennis Open, Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion, Risen 2: Dark Waters, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City’s Spec Ops DLC, Mass Effect 3: Resurgence Pack, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning – Teeth of Naros DLC, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Spec Ops: The Line, Way of the Samurai 4, Ninja Gaiden 3 DLC Pack 1, Double Dragon: Neon, Pokemon Conquest and more.
"PushStartSelect: "I will start this off right, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is not a Resident Evil game. It’s a unique take on the universe and tells it own story. Basically you take Socom and you put it into the Resident Evil universe. This idea on it’s own is absolutely friggin awesome! I love Socom, I love Resident Evil, put them together in the way they did was absolutely awesome. The bad part is the game is riddled with flaws, is way too short, and doesn’t exactly justify the 60..."
Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City takes the series in an interesting direction. The game is a spin off game, similar to Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles. Fans of the series may ignore the game, but for the rest of the gamers who have played a few hours can agree, it’s a fun game.
"Capcom’s Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is now available throughout Europe for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. A collaboration between Capcom and Slant Six Games, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City takes the iconic series in a completely new direction. A third person team based shooter experience set within the dark and sinister Resident Evil universe, the title is a reinterpretation of the events depicted in Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3."
"GamingUnion: "Resident Evil has been all over the place recently, with Resident Evil: Revelations, the Resident Evil 6 announcement and now Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. And for that reason, we decided it was about time we did some Resident Evil casting. First thing's first. There have been quite a few Resident Evil movies released, and they were all pretty suspect. The purpose of this isn't to undo those castings, but to suggest who we think would be best for the role, if the castin..."
"Good afternoon agents. I regret to inform you that the Umbrella Corporation recently contacted the White House, seeking federal support for their upcoming initiative “Operation Raccoon City”. Although this Department is strongly opposed to Umbrella’s methods, we have been ordered to provide them any assistance requested."
I normally love DLC exclusives like this, but normally they are on the console I was planning on buying the game for. This time that didn't happen. I am lucky to have both 360 and PS3 but not all can be so lucky. So PS3 players will miss out on this extremely awesome sounding exclusive multiplayer DLC. What a shame.
"The publishers must want to end their fiscal quarters on a high note, as there are a ton of high-profile titles coming out this month. You can’t mention March 2012 without talking about the most anticipated trilogy-closing video game of all-time, Mass Effect 3. The final chapter of BioWare’s galactic soap opera will put an end to Commander Shepard’s story, and whether it works out or not depends on the choices you made in the previous two titles. Mass Effect 3 may overshadow some of the other..."
"Repetition in videogame sequels is naughty. It can lead to boredom and has the potential to ruin aspiring titles and our wallets by displaying a clear disregard for innovation. While Resident Evil 4 completely reinvented the series, Resident Evil 5 seemed to be pretty much the same game with the exception of certain enemies who appear to have been injected with a vast quantity of class A’s rather than Las Plagas. This left many gamers questioning whether the series might turn into the monoton..."
Capcom is taking some risks with Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, there is a heavy focus on the multiplayer adventure and teamwork. Something Resident Evil has a series has only recently adapted. Moving and shooting is another idea Capcom is implementing. Both of these are good ideas, but will it alienated the hardcore fans? Will Resident Evil 6 go this direction?
"Friday the 13th is the day you’re most likely to get struck by lightning, run over by an ambulance and stabbed in the face by a bad tempered fella with a hockey mask, so why not do yourself a favor and remain indoors with our top five list of the unluckiest characters in gaming history."
"There is a cloud of pessimism in the air, and much like every century or millennium end (cough…Y2K bug…cough), people throughout history like to think of the “End of The World” coming in their lifetime and attribute disasters like the Black Death to signs like misread Mayan prophesies that it is indeed coming soon.
This feeling is mirrored in art: where in the past there were paintings to represent doomsday and world devastation, we now have film and games...
Now that we are living in..."
"We're still trying to catch up on all the great games that hit in 2011, but that doesn't mean we aren't already excited about what the future holds for our favorite console. Player Affinity's Xbox Department takes a look at the upcoming crop of new games and which ones Xbox owners should keep their eyes on."
GameZone's Ben PerLee previews Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City from E3 2011. It is the newest installment into the Resident Evil franchise. It is a third-person shooter/action game that puts you in the role of an Umbrella operative. The article discusses gameplay, controls, modes, characters and their abilities, and the ability to become a zombie.
"I wish Capcom would make up their minds with the Resident Evil series. First they give us zombies, then they take them away and replace them with Spaniards, then a midget dressed as Napoleon turns up. It’s all very confusing but hopefully this new trailer will explain a few things. Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is set during the events of the second and third games in the series i.e. the time when the story made at least some sense."
