Game developers have a tendency to create the direst situations for us gamers to try and survive. Here are the top 5 epidemics that have caused massive destruction throughout the video game world you inhabited.

"Some are iconic games that help define a franchise's trajectory. Some are simply great, innovative titles that are breathtaking in their delivery. But they all have one thing in common: they are the most supreme sequels in the horror genre, and they all deserve top praise."

"Last week’s Electronic Theatre Sunday Special was the run down of Top Ten Videogame Heroes; featuring the protagonist you loved like Sam Fisher, Sonic the Hedgehog and Link. So to prove that the games industry isn’t just a man’s game, this week we focus on the Top Ten Videogame Heroines. Ten of the females that got you hot under the collar, and not in the Dead or Alive Paradise way, but stayed on track with the heroic mission which faced them have been chosen for this week’s feature article."

"Now when most people think of sexually attractive characters in gaming, they usually assume it’s only female characters. Developers know that the men of gaming also have to “look good” too. That’s why we’ve sprinkled in a couple of the hottest men in video games as well."

"When it comes to gaming, one thing is for sure, we like our female leads to be tough. The ability to kick zombie butt is always a bonus too. That's why this week we've chosen a character who's both tough and considered to be quite attractive in addition to knowing exactly how to handle herself when dealing with a possible zombie apocolypse. Like Jill Valentine before her, we've picked a lead from the world of corporations named after wet weather gear and viruses named after letters. This week..."

"Ok, you may be reading the title of this article and thinking: really? Now that response could be devoured in two ways. The first being the "oh really? Of course it is!" response and the second being the one that survival horror fans today may have: "really? Resident Evil 4 is!" If your feelings correspond with the former then you might love to hear yet another opinion on this horror masterpiece. But if you're a member of the latter camp then consider this a wake up call to horror at its fine..."

"5. Jill Valentine & Barry Burton

Ever since they became comrades, Barry had an eye for the young and beautiful Jill Valentine, while at the same time having family and children waiting at home. The call for support at the Arklay Mountains ties them and they share things all the way through the mission. While his attempts at flirting include "why don’t you, the master of unlocking, take this lock pick?” are very well received, he goes a bit too far when he suggests a "Jill-sandwich" in the ..."

"The Resident Evil series has swept the world up in its international tale of disease, infections, and unnecessary singing characters. The series has been called one of the most important in gaming history, and the name is still a major franchise for Capcom. So out of anticipation of RE5's DLC release next month, we present…5 Facts on Resident Evil."

Resident Evil is the series that coined the term "survival horror", but in recent years the games have moved towards more action-oriented gameplay and stories, leaving the 'survival' and 'horror' behind.

While the Resident Evil franchise still manages to pull in sales, many fans feel that it has lost much of what made it such a popular series in the first place.

"25 Things About Me: Chris Redfield

1. Most people only know me as Chris, but my full name is actually Christopher Redfield.

2. My mission in life is to stop the distribution of viral weaponry and end bioterrorism that started with the Umbrella Corporation. This is why I’m one of the founding members of BSAA (Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance) along with my partner, Jill Valentine.

3. I can yawn on demand even when I’m not tired. It’s something I picked up as a kid when preten..."

In light of The Darkside Chronicles' impending release, Capcom has decided to take a look at a previous related entry in the Resident Evil series in a promotional effort.

Last evening the team's "Mikeeb" took a look at two of his favourite scenes in the series' second game -- the opener and the gun shop bit -- so have a read and a look, if you care.

"I was 19 when Capcom released the first Resident Evil, fresh out of high school and in my gaming prime. I liked zombies and I needed a new game, so I popped it in to my Playstation and I have never looked back since. A true RE fan for life. Since 1996 both the video game and movie series have introduced us to some bonafide hotties. Here is a list of the Top 10 Ladies of Resident Evil (both pixilated and real). You can disagree if you want and you can think I'm a freak. It's a free country and..."

Here's Capcom's list of titles that are hitting the PSN. Starting tomorrow the Capcom Classics Collection Remixed will be up for download, which contains games such as Bionic Commando, Captain Commando, Final Fight, Street Fighter, and others. The PSN will get a steady stream of content after that with the likes of Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max, Darkstalkers, Dino Crisis, Resident Evil 2 and 3, and most notably, Power Stone Collection. That's plenty of games to keep your wallet dry for a while.

A man dressed as Resident Evil's HUNK for the Crypticon Horror Convention's "zombie crawl" was recently taken into custody after bystanders mistook him for a masked gunman as he walked into the Metro Clothing store.

A dozen police cars pulled up to the scene with guns drawn. But after realizing their mistake, they issued "Jay" with a disturbance order and soon let him go.

His costume consisted of a black Umbrella Corporation security outfit, knee pads, a knife, a grenade, a gas mask, a...

"Resident Evil 2 was released on the PlayStation Store in Japan on December 26, 2007 as a Playstation Classic. Capcom have now said that they are planning to release the game on the US PSN and that they "hope to bump that up the priority list of "things to do" after HD Remix is out the door." "There's a lot of internal issues to work out to get that rolling properly." added the rep."

"After many years of "tank" controls, static camera angles and increasingly formulaic gameplay, Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami knew it was time to reboot his franchise, so he and his team built Resident Evil 4 from the ground-up. The studio axed the controls, camera angles, nonsensical puzzles and even the iconic zombies that had populated the franchise from the beginning, and fans welcomed the sweeping changes with praise.

So, what changes should be made and in what direction should C..."

Ah, Capcom, they've given us some pretty iconic games over these long years. The publisher recently released a list of their 44 bestsellers, or games that exceeded 1 million units sold since release, up until the fiscal year ending in March 2009.

The top 10 aren't too surprising. These figures are for separate platforms, so multiplatform games may appear more than once. PS3 and Xbox 360 sales are lumped together.

""We'll definitely be looking at a lot of titles that have things like Street Fighter and Resident Evil in the title," Kramer said. "We're thinking about putting together a long list of the titles we're looking at, and then releasing it on Capcom Unity and having people vote on them. Ultimately we're looking at bringing between 20 and 40 titles to the PSN over the next several months.""

"“In late 1994, Capcom Entertainment in the US was starting to ramp up marketing plans for the game that would eventually become known as Resident Evil in the US. Capcom Japan had let us know that the name of the game was going to be ‘Biohazard’ in Japan, but I pointed out to the person who ran marketing at the time that it would be next to impossible for Capcom to register the name in the US.

“As an example, I pointed out that a crappy DOS-based game had just come out in the US called ‘Bio..."

"From the day when video games developed the graphic capabilities to simulate cleavage, women in games have been designed mostly from the blueprints of a horny 13-year-old boy's fantasy. If a female character wasn't in need of rescue - yes, we're talking about you, Donkey Kong - she seemed designed specifically to reinforce negative body images.

But there have been a handful of female video game characters that Brandi Chastain would be proud of, with more seeming to appear in recent years...."

Capcom's 'head of character contents business', Toshihiro Tokumaru, recently speaking for a piece to be featured in Capcom's Investor Relations communication, has revealed the company licensing the movie rights to Resident Evil as they did was "unfortunate".

He implies they made a poor decision in passing over all rights with the deal, thereby losing all ability to use 'any finished product'. As such, "in the future, we'd like to create films where we retain the rights".

"Walking - it's a simple thing to do. But it's absolute nightmare to animate realistically, which is why some games, even with today's tech, make a pig's ear of it. Sometimes with hilarious results. And it's these results we're interested in.

Why some games make the simple task of putting one foot in front look like we've gone over on an ankle (which bloody hurts), we don't know? They should know better.

Many were hoping that Capcom's Resident Evil film would pump some life back into the series, and wipe the Milla Jovovich films from our minds, and what could possible go wrong when Sony Pictures were behind it?

Well, apparently everything, as Wired have given a film a mere 3/10.

...That's still better than the Jovovich films though :D

Could a remake of Resident Evil 2 be coming too Wii? That's what the latest Famitsu issue has apparently revealed.

The remake is said to feature additional story elements, new "swordsman" enemies, and a "Resident Evil 4 viewpoint" which suggests some parts of the game will have an over-the-shoulder camera angle.

"Video game characters are increasingly becoming the poster children for gym membership. With most of gaming’s heroes and heroines being chiseled, pert and with cheek bones you could grate cheese on, there seems to be less and less room for the more gelatinous gentleman in the industry.

That’s why we thought we’d celebrate those characters who said no to Atkins and still managed to pull off moves that would shame most gold-winning Olympians. But while they might seem fighting fit on your co..."
