It has already been revealed that Capcom is planning on releasing the director's cut for Resident Evil, for the PSN store. Now we have some details on the actual release. Resident Evil : Director's Cut will be releasing May 28th. It'll be retailing for $9.99.

It looks like North America's PSN will soon be catching up to the Japanese PSN's abundance of PSOne classics, with Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil: Director's Cut, Spec Ops: Covert Assault, Spec Ops: Ranger Elite and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six all ready to be released stateside.

Capcom's 'head of character contents business', Toshihiro Tokumaru, recently speaking for a piece to be featured in Capcom's Investor Relations communication, has revealed the company licensing the movie rights to Resident Evil as they did was "unfortunate".

He implies they made a poor decision in passing over all rights with the deal, thereby losing all ability to use 'any finished product'. As such, "in the future, we'd like to create films where we retain the rights".
