"If the only music games you’re familiar and keep up with are those who’s titles end with “Hero” or start with “Rock Band,” then the rhythm game genre may have appeared to stagnated in the past few years. In fact, amazing rhythm games are coming out all the time, but don’t receive as much attention as their plastic guitar brethren. Rhythm Heaven Fever might just be the perfect opportunity for skeptics to see that rhythm games are alive and well."

"The new episode of the Primecast is up, and with a title like that, how could you not listen? And when the cast and crew talk about Mass Effect 3′s insane lineup of pre-release DLC, The Last Story coming to America and why it might not be a sign of “things to come” from Nintendo, and why Chris Stewart may not be super excited for the new Amnesia game, you definitely need to listen. It’s important. And the header image will be explained as well.

So give the episode a download, subscribe..."

"Happy Monday, folks! Can you believe it’s almost March? Wow, goes by fast, eh? We’ve also reached five episodes of the Primecast in that kind of time. That’s practically a month! Celebrate by listening to this week’s episode, in which we discuss our impressions of the PS Vita, the necessity of sequels, and the state of new games in the industry. Things get pretty heavy again this time, but we still have a good time talking about it. You get to also hear my woeful tale of trying to get ..."

"The Rhythm Heaven series (known as Rhythm Tengoku in Japan and the DS game known as Rhythm Paradise in Europe) is a quirky, unique set of rhythm video games that has left me (and I’m sure others as well) begging for more. Now, let’s take a look at the series and the future of it."

The Nintendo DS had another big year in 2009 with a strong lineup of exclusive games. So which of the DS-only titles tat was released last year are worth playing?

The latest Famitsu issue includes the top ten best-selling games in Japan during 2009 so far. The list is dominated by Nintendo DS games with four titles appearing on the top ten. The rest of it is filled evenly with PSP, Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii games. No Xbox 360 game managed to make the top ten best-selling list in Japan for 2009.

"When I booted the game up for the first time, I couldn’t help noticing that it felt like Dr. Kawishima’s Brain Training, in the sense that you have to “log in” every time to play the game, offering several slots, for “mama” and “big bro” to join in on the action also. However patronising this initial ritual is, I can tell you that this is not a game that children will appreciate for much time. The game will also test players to see how well they can “flick”. Tapping and holding your stylus on..."

"We have a pretty good idea of what games are going to be big this year. Guitar Hero? It'll do well. StarCraft 2? Yeah, no problems there. But there are a bunch of games that have a good chance of flying under the radar, and we wanted to call attention to them in a little feature we like to call Dark Horse Games of 2009. No, they don't involve husbandry"

Just announced yesterday, a few details and screenshots have now also been spilled about the upcoming Wario title, Wario Land Shake as well as Rhythm Tengoku.

Firstly, Wario's game is single player. As you'd expect, the Wii remote is used, in this case you shake the controller to rattle enemies and grab coins, uncover hidden locations, and lots more. Seems potentially awesome, but really the kind of thing we need a demonstration video of.

No details on Rhythm Tengoku as of yet, but expe...
