"If you've ever played the Square classic, Secret of Mana, you've probably also fallen in love with the music or at least respect that it has some of the best music in the industry. Not every game in the series has been great, but the music is one of the aspects of the series that always remains incredible, thanks in no small part to the contribution of such composers as Hiroki Kikuta, Kenji Ito, and Yoko Shimomura."

"During this hazy, nostalgic haze between controlling a giant worm in a spacesuit to collecting pieces of heart container I thought I would list my all time favorite Top 10 SNES games."

"For those of you who never experienced the game, it had it all -- dragons, spirits, magic seeds, and all kinds of different weapons (including one of the few upgradeable javelins in video game history)."

GameDaily gives its own take at which RPG style is superior in the categories of the classic RPG, the MMORPG, the tactical RPG, the action RPG, most emotionally engaging (contains FFVII and Mass Effect spoilers), and the overall winner.

Though you might not agree with everything stated, it is an interesting read on a topic that continues to spur the interest of RPG fans.

"13. Eternal Sonata
Kicking off our list is Eternal Sonata, a game in which you assume the role of Frederic Chopin. As you might imagine, a game based on such a prolific pianist features a stunning soundtrack. The soundtrack even incorporates some of Chopin’s classic works, such as Polonaise, Op. 53, Étude Op. 10, No. 12, and Étude Op. 10, No. 3. The theme featured is the battle music, which clearly demonstrates the theme of the game."

It is very difficult to just pick 10 and everyone has their own tastes and may not agree with the list, but openly debate the top 10 console RPG's of all time! What games were missed?

Square Enix has launched two news websites pertaining to upcoming remakes of the classic Secret of Mana (official site), and Star Ocean: Blue Sphere (official site), a Japan-only title for the Game Boy Color -- this one is planned to remain within the region, still.

Another downside is the games are only planned for mobiles as of yet, which are huge in Japan's gaming world. For us Westerners that generally prefer our games on consoles (handheld or otherwise), we have reason to be optimisti...

"Early in the lifetime of the Super Nintendo, Squaresoft (now Square Enix), who had as close a tie with Nintendo back then as Nintendo and Rare once had, were busy working exclusively on yet another game - this time an innovative three-player Action-RPG by the name of Seiken Densetsu 2 or Secret of Mana to you and I. Well over a decade later the game is back in Europe, this time in Virtual Console format for a fraction of the original price."

"Download some of the best games from the N64, NES, SNES, SEGA Mega Drive, SEGA MASTER SYSTEM, NEOGEO, Commodore 64 and TurboGrafx (PC Engine) eras in Wii's Virtual Console!

New games are added to the Wii Shop Channel regularly. This week, SECRET OF MANA & Sonic The Hedgehog 2 are ready for you to download."

It's another Monday, and four more games were added to the North American Wii Shop Channel this week. Its a doozy of an update that plans to put your wallet in a world of hurt: two hotly-anticipated games, one game that is another entry in a really good series, and another entry in a legendary series.

The first WiiWare title is the critically well-received World of Goo from 2D Boy. In World of Goo, you will have to create structures from various balls of goo that will lead to an exit/goa...

It was a decent August for Japan, what with Rockman 2, Twinbee, and Nazo no Murasamejou coming out for the Japanese Virtual Console service, but their September just may trump what August had to offer. One of the more celebrated games for the SNES makes its way to the service this month.
