Shaun White Snowboarding: Road Trip

Shaun White Snowboarding: Road Trip

"When it comes to video games based on extreme sports, I’m usually pretty ambivalent. They’re a lot of fun at first, but tend to get repetitive or turn into button mashers. Oh, awesome, I just punched the controller and flipped into the air for the hundredth time. While at GameX, the Binge Gamer crew got to check out Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage. The name alone didn’t give me much hope until I realized that this was the Shaun White title demo’ed at E3, making use of the Wii’s balance ..."

"Road Trip was the only version of Shaun White Snowboarding I didn’t get a chance to play. My main gripe with the PS3/360 version was that there were far too many impurities; the difficulty was ramped high, which was only worsened by the clunky controls, and the online play was broken. The DS version however, was a thrill ride, offering some simple boarding fun. The Wii version is hailed as the best, mainly because of the balance board focus, which brings completely separated it from the other..."

At last year's E3, Nintendo promised us a variety of things, such as a Shaun White exclusive, a new Animal Crossing game, and more Mario and Zelda. Kotaku has reviewed each and every one of those promises and tells us if Nintendo kept them.

"Today, 5th January 2009, is officially the twelfth day of Christmas. Most of you are probably back into your usual daytime routine by now, and are looking for something to entertain you during those long winter nights. The Twelve Games of Christmas is a feature series that has been run on each of the twelve days of Christmas here at Electronic Theatre, looking at the disc-based European releases of 2008, and selecting the best performers of each month. Today is the final instalment, and so it..."

OXCGN writer Warren Marshall takes a look at the new kid on the block with regards to all things white and powdery. Shaun White's Snowboarding is his first iteration, and does look great, but does it cut it with some of the other games on the market today.

So slip over to the site and check the review and pics out, you might be surprised at the results . . ?!

"I haven’t been huge on snowboarding games (SSX fans, my apologies) but something about Shaun White caught my eye. Originally, of course, I had set my eyes on the Playstation 3 version, in which you create your own snowboarder and free roam four different mountain ranges with friends online, but the DS version, I figured, was worth a spin (or should I say FS Misty?)"

"I recently had the privilege of some “Hands-on” with this game at a Ubisoft Retailers evening in held in Sydney at the Greenwood Hotel, Nth Sydney. You need to see that place to appreciate it. And naturally, under strict press embargo rules, I haven’t been able to discuss it - that is of course, until now. Shaun White’s Snowboarding is here, well almost, and it is about to make an impression with anyone that plays it or let alone sees it.

While the build we played was around 75% complete, ..."

I normally don't do the top list thing, since there's approximately 19 billion of them already, but PocketGamer does seems to be doing gamers a service with this one, helping you sort through the muck this fourth quarter.

Following up on their Top 10 Q4 DS games to look forward to, this one focuses on the PSP. Oddly it doesn't seem like the most stellar list, but perhaps that's just personal opinion. Nevertheless, do you think this season is a poor one for PSP games?

"Today Ubisoft have announced the development of Shaun White Snowboarding for the NintendoDS system and PlayStation Portable system. The game is scheduled for release on November 13th, 2008.

Developed in close collaboration with Shaun White, Olympic Gold Medalist and eight-time X Games Gold Medalist, Shaun White Snowboarding for the PSP system and NintendoDS allows players to enjoy the thrilling sport of snowboarding anytime, anywhere. Built from the ground up on both platforms, each versio..."

Well, ps3trophies.org decided to go to Leipzig to ask that question and they've got back a list of games that will include trophy support.

After Ubisoft released their Wii game line-up at the Ubidays event, they were met with a lot of criticism because Wii gamers believe all of Ubisoft's upcoming games are all casual. Members of the official Ubisoft forums criticized Ubisoft on their casual games. Raide, who is the manager of the company's UK forums, responded to the criticism and also defended the recently announced game, Shaun White Snowboarding. Check out what he said in the quote below.
