Sin & Punishment: Star Successor

Sin & Punishment: Star Successor

Fun Wii games are often ignored on account of their colorful box art or status as a downloadable title. Plenty of games on Nintendo's current console would make stellar additions to any gamer's library, you just have to give them a chance.

If you're doing some holiday shopping for your Wii-owning family and friends, be sure to check out the first entry of BrightHub's gift guide so you don't pick out any shovelware titles this year.

The Nintendo Wii is quietly having a great year of quality new releases. Here are the top 10 games released for the system during the first-half of 2010.

"In this inaugural episode of the TV and Lust podcast, Craig, Fran, Seth and Chris all introduce themselves to their listeners, and talk about what games they’ve all been playing recently, including LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4, Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable, Metal Gear Solid and Deathsmiles. The staff also go over a few games they’re looking forward to in the coming months."

"Sin & Punishment: Star Successor is the latest shooter from Treasure – a developer that has no shortage of fans, my self included. On one hand, the name Treasure ensures that you can expect a high-quality game that will be sought after and still spinning in consoles a decade from now. On the other hand, it is all the more surprising that Treasure would make such basic mistakes within the genre."

The top 10 best-selling games on Amazon for the month of June. Also included are individual charts for the Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in addition to the top 25 best-selling video game products overall (software, hardware and accessories).

Nintendo Wii gamers are enjoying a great year so far with many great exclusive releases in 2010. The upcoming summer releases are also looking quite promising for the system.

The start of summer is usually a slow period for new game releases. Although the high-profile titles may be missing in the month of June, it still has plenty to offer.

Today, Nintendo have updated its release list and confirmed that Sin and Punishment 2 will be pushed back a few weeks to June 27. Metroid: Other M will also be delayed until August 31.

"The cult Japanese arcade game, played in chapters, follows the mysterious story of Isa Jo and Kachi as together they fight a battle for humanity between Inner and Outer Space. The two characters can fly above the ground and perform feats of fast shooting as they dash and glide on jet packs and flying boards, battling to repel the hordes of enemies with guns, swords and a powerful bomb."

"The Nintendo Wii is currently the top console on the market this generation, and Nintendo and its third-party publishers are going to make sure that it stays on top of the game. There will be plenty of new titles to play this year -- sequels to popular franchises as well as new IPs, both on retail disk as well as digital download -- so don't think for a second that it'll be a "sparse" and "light" 2010 when it comes to Wii gaming.

Here's a quick look at the games we're most looking forward ..."

2010 is looking like it could be the Wii's best year, in terms of first-party game support. The year promises Sin and Punishment 2, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and Metroid: Other M, so long as everything goes according to plan. Hell, we may even catch a glimpse or two of the upcoming Zelda Wii, though Reggie makes no promises. Needless to say, even the Regginator is excited about Nintendo 10' -- and with good reason.

"These clips show Isa (the boy with a jet pack) and Kachi (the girl with the hoverboard) riding a Ton Ton-like creature and reflecting missiles with flip kicks. Awesome.

Unlike Sin & Punishment, Sin & Punishment 2 has Japanese voice acting. The build Nintendo of America demoed had English voice acting so they’re working on two language tracks. Not sure if Nintendo will release both tracks on the same disc, though.

"This year’s E3 was a feast for the eyes, showing off some very impressive games for all three major home consoles. While the Microsoft and Sony E3 press conferences were stuffed full of gaming goodness, the Nintendo press conference seems to be left in the dust. If you actually look at what Nintendo has coming out for the “hardcore” you will realize they are doing a better job of tailoring towards that crowd that they have in the past. Don’t believe me? then feast your eyes on this amazing li..."

The Treasure-developed Sin and Punishment 2 is a follow-up to the Japan-only N64 title Sin and Punishment, which led to rave reviews when finally released on the Virtual Console back in 2007. This new title, made exclusively for Wii, features use of the Wii Remote pointer in the game's fast-paced frenetic action.

From the Nintendo Fall Press Conference last night, there are new screenshots for Sin & Punishment 2, one of the latest games being developed by legendary studio Treasure. The game will feature the predecessor's run-and-gun shooter gameplay, with new characters and all new giant boss fights.
