Time Magazine's Techland section takes a look back at 20 years of Sonic the Hedgehog over a five-page article, listing games, allies, enemies, comics, and TV Shows, amongst other things.

Mario entered the 3D era of gaming with Super Mario 64 and broke boundaries that many people thought never even existed. Sonic, on the other hand, did not, and his adventure in Sonic 3D Blast left much to be desired. How did the Blue Blur manage to get back on the 3D map after that game?

"A lot of games have them and a lot of them are annoying. We're of course talking about side kicks in video games. Whether your favorite genre is the classic platformer or you're more into hardcore action shooters, chances are you've had an annoying side kick at some point. We run down our top five worst side kicks of all-time. It's not likely that you'll agree with them all, but you're certain to remember how some of these number twos bugged you at some point."

Why should you care about this randomness out of nowhere? Well, because Universal Pictures was about to pick it up. That's how good it is.

The movie is a throwback to the old "SatAM" Sonic cartoon featuring a different and better cast of characters alongside Sonic. A proper trailer is to be shown in Summer.

Nintendo celebrates the Wii's first anniversary featuring the three main icons of the systems resurrected by the Virtual Console. We get games featuring Mario and Luigi, Sonic, and Zonk.

  • With the NA releases of Sin & Punishment and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels on the Virtual Console, paying attention to which games get VC releases in both Japan and Europe get much more important, as these games are then ready to be used on the VC, and sport the possibility of crossing the ocean.
