Time Magazine's Techland section takes a look back at 20 years of Sonic the Hedgehog over a five-page article, listing games, allies, enemies, comics, and TV Shows, amongst other things.

"A lot of games have them and a lot of them are annoying. We're of course talking about side kicks in video games. "Forget Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, Zelda, and Katamari; Sonic R is the pinnacle of video game music. Richard Jacques(Eyetoy and You’re in the Movies soundtracks) composed the soundtrack and TJ Davis(singer in Metropolis Street Racer, member of Björn Again) did the singing–truly a match made in heaven. This powerpop soundtrack is pure, unadulterated genius. The lyrics, the music, the synth all worked well not only with each other, but with the areas they appeared in–truly conveying the fee..."

Why should you care about this randomness out of nowhere? Well, because Universal Pictures was about to pick it up. That's how good it is.

The movie is a throwback to the old "SatAM" Sonic cartoon featuring a different and better cast of characters alongside Sonic. A proper trailer is to be shown in Summer.
