After the rumors, SEGA has finally announced the inevitable: the Dreamcast makes its return this generation, with Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi headed for both the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network this fall.
Both games will be available to play at SEGA's booth at E3.
According to the ESRB, Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure DX will be ported to the Playstation 3 in addition to the Windows PC and the Xbox 360 platforms.
Good news for fans of the Sega Dreamcast as it looks like some of the classic titles from that defunct system will be making their way to Xbox Live Arcade at least. I wouldn't be surprised to see them on PSN either.
"It's generally hard to believe rumours from anonymous sources and we are still keeping this as a rumour, but the screenshot (kindly provided by SEGAOnline) does look pretty legitimate and clearly shows the download screen on Xbox Live Marketplace."
In a new interview with IndustryGamers, Sega of America's VP of Marketing Sean Ratcliffe stated for a second time (first was last year) what perhaps most fans have been thinking this last decade: Sonic is broken. The other is a sassy, sexy and no-nonsense computer program who has spent her entire existence in the nude. Within the tightly linked and extraordinarily small world of videogame voice acting, however, these two women are the exact same person."
"1999. The last year of the 20th Century. It was a good one, although since it followed on the heels of one of the single best years the industry had ever seen, software-wise, it is often forgotten. However, in addition to the games that are on the final list, just a few of the top tier titles released in 1999 included Alpha Centauri, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, Unreal Tournament and Soul Calibur. Indeed, as we come closer to our 2008 list, we find these lists getting harder ..."
"Some games are utterly timeless. Super Mario Bros is still perfect. Soul Calibur 1 is still beautiful. But this is GRs Week of Hate, after all. So here are the once-great games that might shock you if you play them today."
"After we reported that Sega had recently patented the title 'Sonic Rush Adventure', the firm has coughed up the news that the game is in development for DS.
Sonic Rush Adventure will use both screens of the DS to "navigate the high seas in search of pirate treasure", says Sega description. The game is being developed by Sega Studios for an autumn release.
Gameplay from the well-received original will be retained and the blurb released so far tells how players will set off from Windmill ..."
