"We all know that Massive Multiplayer Online games are becoming bigger and bigger and many top-notch publishers are cashing in on the MMO market, whether it’s free-to-play or pay-to-play. But gamers would probably love it if they were able to play a few specific MMOs from some of the biggest franchises out there, hence here’s a list of the top 5 franchises that would be huge as MMOs."

We often wonder how we could get more variety in games, and at the same time, enable developers to take a few risks, yet not face bankrupcy in doing so.
OXCGN writer asks the question, how could developers do that, perhaps with compilations of HD levels extracted from several games on the one disc.
Much like Valve did with the Orange Box, which contained several games, gave each style of player something to get their teeth into, yet still enabled a long-term sale value for the publisher...
2010 was a year of great games, and not so great games. These aren't the worst games of 2010, but the ones that let us down the most. Check out the top ten most disappointing games of 2010.

Personally I'm in favour of character change, so long as it is within the context of the story-arc, and that it fits in with thr progression of the character within said game.
OXCGN takes a look at Character Change in games, asking is it a good, or bad thing. We all have our own thoughts on the subject, and they ask you to share those thoughts in a constructive manner.

"Since there are literally hundreds of thousands of games out there, it’s no easy task for lead characters to make a lasting impression on the player. Once in a while however, you'll come across a leader that's different. Somehow, that character manages to set himself apart from the others."
"Target, Toys R Us and Best Buy are all offering deals this week meant to get shoppers to make multiple purchases. Meanwhile, K-Mart is offering a hot deal on Mafia II releasing this week and a similar deal on Red Dead Redemption."

This review is a look at the recent Splinter Cell: Conviction title. I talk about the minor gripes I had with the game, along with what make it such a good game and why it's a must-play.
"The Splinter Cell franchise has been kicking it stealth-style since 2002 when the first title in its critically acclaimed portfolio introduced series leading man Sam Fisher and his employers the secretive black ops organisation Third Echelon. It won over countless stealth converts with its stylish game play, top shelf graphics and well scripted storyline and remains one of the highest rated xbox/ps2 games of all time."

While it was nowhere as big as March, April still saw many great new releases, especially on the home console front. Here are five games that stood out from the rest of the pack.
GamingShogun.com has posted their review of Ubisoft's latest Splinter Cell title, Splinter Cell: Conviction. They give the game high-marks for the its new enhancements to stealth gameplay such as 'mark & execute', 'last known position', and the enhanced cover and movement system. Conviction puts players in the shoes of ex-operative Sam Fisher as he attempts to track down his daughter's killer(s).

"After a couple of slow weeks for game releases gamers can finally expect to see things pick up. In fact, this week is but a precursor to the month of May when the game releases get kind of crazy."
"Wedbush Security Analyst Michael Pachter looks into his crystal ball in this week's episode of "Pach-Attack" on GameTrailers.com to look at the future of exclusives on consoles. With the cost of game development increasing does it make sense for developers and publishers to limit their potential audience to only one game console? He also gives his thoughts on whether Microsoft will come out with their answer to the DS or PSP."
"This isn’t the Sam Fisher of years gone by. His hair is gray, his features are wrinkled- he looks grizzled, tired, and even downright old. If we didn’t know for a fact what his history held, Sam would come off as no more imposing a figure than the local delicatessen owner. But, within minutes of putting the disc in your tray, you’ll realize that muscle memory counts for a lot, and skills are ingrained for life."
The latest Splinter Cell game takes some of the best elements from past games and molds them to make a more accessible and exciting game. Its action packed moments should bring in new fans while bringing fans back into the intriguing story of Sam Fisher.
Sam Fisher has returned. He's out to take down the organization that has given him work for the last several years. To say that he's gone postal would be an understatement.

Any publicity is good publicity. Right?
The marketers responsible for selling upcoming title Splinter Cell Conviction clearly subscribe to the theory. In a bizarre stunt aimed at getting press attention for the game they had a man dress as protagonist Sam Fisher, replica gun and all, and storm a New Zealand pub.
While initial backlash may be harsh to such an ill advised stunt, there is no doubting it's done exactly what the promoters intended.
"Tom Clancy’s novels for the most part have always managed to make for some great games and the Splinter Cell series is no exception. Finally, after much waiting, the latest installment to the Splinter Cell saga has arrived to the Xbox 360, exclusively. Will this highly anticipated title manage to sneak into our hearts or will it come out guns blazing and blow us away? We’re about to find out."
Xbox Evolved piggies off the back of GamesRadar's recent article supporting the fact that Splinter Cell: Conviction may indeed be going to PS3 a lot sooner than we all think. Simple, but new evidence also suggests the game's 360 exclusive status may never have even existed.

SOme people whenthey get a new game expect much of the same as the iteration befpore, but many also forget that times change and so do how developers move forward with their methods and the ability to modernise games.
Some like it, some hate it,but if we are to move forward in gaming, we have to understand that both times and things in life change accordingly.
OXCGN's reviewer seems to be caught in the former, wanting the new Sam Fisher to be like the Sam Fisher of old - come check out ...
"This is supposed to be Splinter Cell, yet it just doesn’t feel like it. This game really is the Super Mario Bros. 2 of this generation, because even though we have a solid title here that is kind of similar to the brand it’s named after, it’s just not right. Just like Mario looking slightly off in SMB2, Sam looks different. Fans who have been following the journey of Sam Fisher since 2002 on the original Xbox may want to erase any memory of that series. Conviction is a good game, but it’s not..."
"If you are liking Splinter Cell: Conviction on the Xbox 360 then Ubisoft has just announced something that may make you like it even more. Free weekly downloadable content is coming to the game every week starting this week with the MP7A1 machine pistol."
"The much anticipated release of Splinter Cell: Conviction for the Xbox 360 has hit a bit of a snag as some gamers are reporting that the game is freezing on them during the second level and at other times. This is after Ubisoft released a "day-one patch" meant to correct a freezing problem that was reported by game reviewers."
"Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction marks the return of Sam Fisher after a few delays. The return of not just one but two Capcom classics and some thought it never happen but GTA 4: Episodes from Liberty City finds its release on the PS3."
"It doesn’t need to be said anymore than it already has; for better or worse, Splinter Cell: Conviction survived the development process and is now available for the Xbox 360. The wear and tear of the enduring development cycle is clearly evident on the final product as Conviction is an oddity that shines at the appropriate moments, but presents itself as an entirely different beast than the past entries."
Not a lot has been done with the stealth genre through the past years. While we're starting to see games incorporating aspects of stealth, few can claim to be truly "innovative." However, thanks to the following five games and franchises, we have seen amazing changes in gaming and the stealth genre as a whole.
Late last year some were saying that 2010 could be the biggest in gaming history and it certainly is shaping up that way. So, John from All Age Gaming sat down and compiled a list of the Top 10 games in the first half of 2010 (1st January to 30 June 2010). If the second half of 2010 is going to be better, then we are in for one hell of a treat!

"The basic idea we were shown behind this multiplayer mode was that two people team up to defeat a number of enemies. Stealth should play a factor, but unfortunately did not in my particular playthrough as I was found and shot at within moments of being handed the controller. Each map starts out with a set number of enemies to kill, and if players are seen, that amount doubles. It goes without saying that smarter players, or at least those wishing to finish the map as soon as possible, will tr..."

After an unexpected email, we were asked to come in to a little privatre hands-on with the new SPlinter Cell: Conviction demo which ideally is going live on the 19th (but could be delayed a few days - not confirmed at this time). So it was just 3 of us getting all up-close-n-personal with Sam Fisher as he infiltrated a warehouse to stop an EMP.
Drop by and see what the hands-on gave us, and yes, the game IS going to be great, and it HAS been worth the wait.

"With Microsoft’s X10 expo behind us I thought it would be a great time to look at the top 5 Xbox 360 exclusives to be released during the Spring 2010 window. Each one of these triple-A titles are can be found only on the Xbox 360 console and will undoubtedly be some of the top-rated games of the entire year. How does this list stack up to those exclusives found on Sony’s Playstation 3, personally I believe the Xbox 360 has a stronger Spring line-up but that is all a matter of opinion. Either ..."
GameZone received a mysterious rock from Ubisoft with interesting carvings that deal with Splinter Cell: Conviction. On top of that, they received items to give away to their readers to celebrate the upcoming release of the title.
"Naysayers may say that Microsoft has blown its load and 2009 was a glimpse into the future of the fall of popularity for the Redmond, Washington based company in the console space. Well, Microsoft isn’t going to go out without a fight and 2010 is shaping up to be a much better year for the console than 2009 was."
"By the end of our session with Splinter Cell: Conviction, it was clear to see that we were torn by our expectations and what was reality. Having a false sense of familiarity with the franchise, it’s obvious that Ubisoft has a new direction for Splinter Cell that longtime fans may not like. But if fans are open for changes and are willing to accept the fresh outlook at where Ubisoft is taking Sam Fisher, then Splinter Cell: Conviction should rocket up their must buy list."

"As of this writing, we’re already three weeks into 2010. The “new” year is already practically ancient, and pretty soon we’ll have run out of time to make wild, erratic, entirely factual predictions about things that will happen over the next 11 months. So with January nearly over, we’re going for the jugular and answering the question that’s on everyone’s mind: between the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and PC, which gaming platform will claim victory by the end of this year.
Experts antici..."
"Unfortunately, that will not be the case, as Ubisoft announced today that Splinter Cell Conviction has been delayed out of its current fiscal year and into April 2010. The publisher also said that its all-new World War II strategy game R.U.S.E. has been pushed into its upcoming fiscal year, which runs from April 1, 2010, to March 31, 2011. Ubisoft gave no explanation for the delays."

"The release of Project Natal prior to the year’s end was once again confirmed, along with the fact that it will work with all existing Xbox 360 consoles. Further discussing new ideas, an interesting proposition was mentioned in the fact that Microsoft is considering allowing gamers to purchase a game on Xbox 360, and play it on their PC. Would this fantastic suggestion ever come to light in the retail space, however, Electronic Theatre would be very surprised indeed."

All Age Gaming's John Elliott takes a look into Ubisoft's new online feature, Uplay. Is Ubisoft's attempt at enhancing the experience of a few of their key games a stroke of genius or just a fickle attempt at getting us to play for more useless game accessories?
"Following the latest Developer Diary released for Assassin’s Creed II, Ubisoft have issued a new trailer for Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction only a few moments ago. And with that comes a greater chance for Fisher to demonstrate his combat prowess."
"VideoGamer.com: We're a multiplatform website, and we have many PS3-owning readers who would love to play Splinter Cell: Conviction. Do you have any message for them? Is there any hope for them regarding the game?
Yannis Mallat: There is always hope.
VideoGamer.com: Does that mean Splinter Cell: Conviction might come to the PS3?
Yannis Mallat: I can't predict the future. But it's good to hear that people who can't play Splinter Cell are willing to."
"Like many I was amazed at the new presentation the series had with things like objectives appearing via projections in the environment. More importantly the game looked more action packed yet still manageable which appealed to me since the old Splinter Cell mechanics didn't do a lot for my trigger happy gamer instincts.
Today Ubisoft was nice enough to release a short walkthrough video of Sam disposing of more foes effortlessly as he looks like a complete badass. And maybe it's just me b..."

"Sam Fisher isn’t the same as the previous version gamers are use too. Sam Fisher is quicker, badder, and better and in terms of gameplay Sam Fisher beats Solid Snake in many ways making Splinter Cell Conviction the official rebirth to this franchise in every way."
Ubisoft have just announced through a press release of their 2009-10 Q1 sales, that two major releases for this year are being pushed back. Both, Splinter Cell: Conviction and Red Steel 2, will be seeing releases in fiscal Q4, which translates to anywhere between January and March of next year. Their press release also details why they've done poorly, but they say that they have plenty of upcoming titles on the horizon to look forward to, such as Assassin's Creed II.
Recently Steven Masters of Ubisoft revealed that the decision to make Splinter Cell: Conviction Xbox 360 only was purely a "business decision". Steven further explains the PS3 can handle Sam Fisher's latest installment just fine.
"After a (much needed) hiatus it seems like the Splinter Cell series is making its return. Spinter Cell Conviction is back with all the stealth you've come to expect, this iteration looks to have no boundaries of what Sam Fisher is ultimately after; Revenge!. Although nothing much has been said about the multiplayer aspect of the game, Double Agent emphasized a great deal on the co-op which still didn't seem to do well at the end. Hopefully this will succeed in that department, let these amazi..."
"Most games usually require a lot of touch-up work during their development before they're ready for release. Usually it's nothing major. A haircut for the main character here, the occasional unintentionally offensive Arabic song removed there. Some games, though, go through more than mere cosmetic changes. The following collection of titles all changed drastically during their development cycles. Sometimes for the better. Sometimes not."
"Splinter Cell Conviction is now a XBOX 360 exclusive. The game was shown live and again omg the game looks good. Sam has changed, this time he is on a person mission. His daughter has been killed and now his pissed. The interaction with enemies looks full on."
"Of the three bullet-holes featured on the front page of the new website (see image), two remain signposted as “restricted”, one til 20th May, the other til 28th May. Following the only route left available to us, we found a video beginning to play. Narrated by what most would immediately believe is Sam Fisher himself, the video pans around the globe before zooming-in on a small island, believed to be a fictional addition to the Mediterranean Sea, south of Sicily."
"Everyone who knows anything about Tom Clancys Splinter Cell very well knows that Splinter Cell: Conviction is the game that acts like it will never come out. Despite hopes, inquiries into its progress and lots of speculation, no one seems any closer to knowing about this game than the next gamer over. However, recent rumors have been spilling across the vast space of the net that may suggest Splinter Cell: Conviction could be making an appearance as soon as the Game Developers Conference thi..."
The Mumbai terrorist attacks claimed dozens of lives yesterday, and one of them was almost the videogame voice actor Michael Rudder, who starred in Far Cry Instincts, Prince Of Persia: The Warrior Within, Jagged Alliance and ironically Splinter Cell. A game which freqrently pits you against various terrorist groups. Luckily he survived despite three bullet wounds to the chest, he should make a full recovery.
"When Ubisoft didn't show Splinter Cell: Conviction at its last event, people worried a little about how the game might be doing. Fear not the game's doing great. So great, they say, that Ubisoft just decided it'd be better off releasing it as part of its "2009-2010" lineup instead of in this year's fiscal fourth quarter. You know, to "bolster" next year, as the company said in its fiscal first quarter results statement."
"Splinter Cell Conviction has been taken "back to the drawing board" by Ubisoft Montreal.
That's according to a report in the latest Xbox World 360 mag. Though Ubisoft isn't saying anything, the mag says it's heard that the surprising development decision has forced Splinter Cell back into the festive period of 2009 - or as late as Spring 2010."
"With this year's gaming harvest already played and beaten and filed away into memory like so many saves, it is time now to look on.
Past the bulbous shores of 2007, far off in the distant recesses of release schedules, lies the gone-golden bounty of untapped potential. And while many may slip their surly bonds and give flight to the year 2009, more still will cement their crusted plastic into delighted hands. Here we mark the prophecy of the PC legacy, a concrete, yet tumultuous hour of re..."
"Video games have a long tradition of creating tough-as-nails protagonists that fight hordes of oncoming enemies. Still, few have been able to elevate themselves to true badass status. Sam Fisher and Solid Snake are two characters that have been known for years for their ability to strike fear into enemy NPOs and let gamers unleash their inner Special Ops soldier.
