Ubisoft has set into motion their new movie studio, and the first three franchises to get the big screen treatment are Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell, and Ghost Recon.

Alex Monney, Ubisoft’s PR Coordinator, has revealed that the multiplayer features from the original games won’t be included in Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Trilogy for the Playstation 3.

Companion Pictures has started a new original YouTube SPlinter Cell series...and it is fantastic! This is extremely high quality work for a fan series...so take a look!

A little while ago, Epic Games made a statement that would not be using the Unreal Engine for the 3DS...at all. Today, Ubisoft announced that they are using the Unreal Engine to create Splinter Cell HD.

Several online retailers (including Amazon) have revealed the official name for Ubisoft’s upcoming Splinter Cell Trilogy release for the Playstation 3.

It seems many developers are hopping on the HD Remake train, and Ubisoft is liking it. First releasing the Prince of Persia trilogy just recently, and now announcing the Splinter Cell trilogy. This is good news for fans of the original to play these games on an HD screen.

"Since there are literally hundreds of thousands of games out there, it’s no easy task for lead characters to make a lasting impression on the player. Once in a while however, you'll come across a leader that's different. Somehow, that character manages to set himself apart from the others."

Online retailer Amazon France has apparently listed two Ubisoft compilations, Splinter Cell Trilogy and Prince of Persia Trilogy, for the Playstation 3.

"The Splinter Cell franchise has been kicking it stealth-style since 2002 when the first title in its critically acclaimed portfolio introduced series leading man Sam Fisher and his employers the secretive black ops organisation Third Echelon. It won over countless stealth converts with its stylish game play, top shelf graphics and well scripted storyline and remains one of the highest rated xbox/ps2 games of all time."

GameSpot has a pretty great expose online now regarding the "DRM dilemmna" -- that is, publisher action said to minimize piracy by limiting what gamers can do with a given title for the PC.

In it they speak to DRM advocates, opponents, developers, publishers, and DRM vendors themselves -- a must-read if you're looking to gain a broader perspective on the matter at hand, or don't know what DRM is about.

PC gamers can rejoice -- digital distribution service Good Old Games has signed Ubisoft to its catalogue, announcing the deal today. What this means is you can get the likes of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Far Cry, Beyond Good & Evil, and lots more for $6 or $10, DRM-free, and XP/Vista compatible (Mac and Win7 too, to some extent).

Hurrah!

After the news that Michael Rudder had been shot, CBC News now presents an interview with the brave survivor who shows no signs of real trauma as he even made a bit of humour.

The interview outlines what happened from his point of view during the attack and how he managed to escape with his life, in a taxi no less! At the end of the interview, he stated "I'll be home for Christmas".

Metroid Prime, Kingdom Hearts and Super Mario Sunshine led the charge in 2002, the year that saw The Sims become the highest selling PC title of all time, Rare switch hands from Microsoft to Nintendo, and the launch of the first video game television network, G4.

Counting down the top games from 1990 straight up through 2008, Binge Gamer's James Walker takes a look at the best (and worst) games from the year of the GameCube, 2002.

The Mumbai terrorist attacks claimed dozens of lives yesterday, and one of them was almost the videogame voice actor Michael Rudder, who starred in Far Cry Instincts, Prince Of Persia: The Warrior Within, Jagged Alliance and ironically Splinter Cell. A game which freqrently pits you against various terrorist groups. Luckily he survived despite three bullet wounds to the chest, he should make a full recovery.

"Video games have a long tradition of creating tough-as-nails protagonists that fight hordes of oncoming enemies. Still, few have been able to elevate themselves to true “badass” status. Sam Fisher and Solid Snake are two characters that have been known for years for their ability to strike fear into enemy NPO’s and let gamers unleash their inner Special Ops soldier. However, there is only room at the top for one badass to rule them all. Myarcadeplanet is putting that power in your hands. It’s..."
