Jame's Walker goes back once again to find some games that might be worth you're while in checking out (previous ones include Grind Session, Super Back to the Future Part II, and recently Crue Ball. Spore is the latest creation from Will Wright - the mind behind the Sims series of games, but when you buy Spore you're not just buying one game, you're buying five of them in one. While this is one of the things that makes Spore great but is also its downfall.

That's right, Spore has received a rather negative review (for the Nintendo DS version, at least) from a website called The Star.

The review builds up your excitement by talking about how people have been waiting a while now and the features. They then finish off, however, with a rather derogatory statement:

"A grind through a short sequence of uninspired levels, given drive only by the kind of collect-'em-all completism that continues to fluff up weak games a decade...

The UGO Games Blog recently got their hands on Spore Origins, which is basically a iPhone and Touch version of Spore, stripped down to only the Cell Stage. You have to go through 30+ levels to try and eat food, but in order to do that, you need to dodge the bigger creatures.

They touch on all of the technical points, as well as some of the games key features- from the opening bits when you are just creating your creatures, all the way down to the point in time where you colonize the world (peacefully - or with an iron fist - you decide)


It is a bit lenghtly, but well worth reading if you are still on the fence about Spore.
