""With the inclusion of the Japanese voice track, this is the definitive version of The Last Hope, and a worthy purchase for Japanese-RPG fans. While the core game hasn’t changed from the original 360 version and there are a couple frustrating issues, this is definitely a solid RPG and a good investment of time.""
"Aside from your profile options, not much else is yet available on the Square Enix Members official website, apart from what appears to be set to become the publisher’s equivalent of Nintendo’s “Stars” community feature. Gamers are given the option to register their games, which will than appear on their profile homepage."

The PlayStation 3 version will include the option for players to choose English or Japanese voiceovers and localised subtitles in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish."
In a 'Fan-Powered' Q&A session with the development team of Star Ocean: The Last Hope, the fans were given answers to questions all the fans have been wondering such as why it was released on the 360 first and why they decided to go with the CG models for that version over the traditional anime ones. This three-page interview covers a few other questions you might like to know the answers to as well.

"Wwhat will follow is a top 10 list of the best Japanese RPGs, shining examples of the JRPG genre done right. These games are proof that the JRPG genre is not, as a whole, stagnant and rigid, as these games in particular have addressed most, if not all, of the flaws that other articles points out as being supposedly endemic to the JRPG genre. The games on this list are just plain awesome, and the fact that they are JRPGs becomes irrelevant in the face of their quality. Not all Western gamers a..."
"BioShock was one of the biggest surprises of 2007 and after a four-month delay, 2K Games is finally ready to retrun to Rapture with BioShock 2 this week. The PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 sequel comes from a new developer (2K Marin), but gives gamers the chance to play as the series' iconic Big Daddy."
"Since the launch of the PlayStation 3, Japanese RPG fans have bemoaned the lack of their favorite genre on the machine. Sure, sometimes publishers throw the PS3 a bone – ports of 360 JRPGs like Enchanted Arms and Eternal Sonata come to mind, along with a few exclusive RPGs that are even more specialized in being Strategy RPGs. Otherwise, PS3 fans had to either play the Xbox 360's larger but still small selection, or keep playing PS2, which even in 2010 will get another game in the genre. Than..."

Here's some information to keep your hopes up for a Star Ocean: The Last Hope release on the PS3. Gamefly has a put up a listing for the game on their site with a "TBD" release date. Siliconera expounds on this news.
"Star Ocean: The Last Hope is an epic, action-packed game in typical Japanese RPG fashion. The game has some stellar visuals, awesome animated cut-scenes and a lengthy, well-told story behind it. The story is a little slow to start with, but becomes increasingly captivating as players explore new worlds, recruit additional comrades and further unravel the nuances of the tale. Players who like a little bit of substance and character building in their RPGs will love Star Ocean, the game is jam-p..."
"Square Enix Ltd. has today announced that a Limited Collector’s Edition of Star Ocean: The Last Hope will be released across PAL territories on 5th June, 2009, exclusively on Xbox 360."
The Xbox 360 isn't the most popular console in Hong Kong, so Microsoft sent a Star Ocean 4 cosplayer and a truck decked out in Xbox goodies into the streets to help promote the console. Good marketing strategy, or a waste of time?
"With this highly anticipated prequel, acclaimed development studio tri-Ace Inc. brings the Star Ocean series to Xbox 360 for the first time. Star Ocean: The Last Hope continues the series traditions of soaring space opera, blending Science-Fiction with Fantasy for a unique Role-Playing Game experience."
Available on video game developer tri-Ace's home page is a link to a teaser page for a new RPG title that is presumably in development by the studio. The countdown timer is currently set to finish on April 10th. The teaser page can be found here.
tri-Ace's most recent projects were the Xbox 360 RPG Star Ocean: The Last Hope, and Nintendo DS SRPG Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume.
"Another reason that the battles are so fun in the game is that killing innocent woodland creatures is always a great stress reliever. Much to the joy of horrible people across the world, it's totally possible to lay the pimp hand down on happy little spiders, dog people things, and bigfoot. Again, I don't mean to give away any spoilers, but I can and shall confirm that for the first time in an RPG, you WILL level up your party by killing bigfoot."
"With its UK release recently pinned for June, Square Enix's other gorgeous RPG, Star Ocean: The Last Hope, is finally almost upon us.
CVG took a drive down to historic Greenwich in London yesterday to go hands-on with an English-language version of the game and chat with the game's producer, Yoshinori Yamagishi."

It looks like another JRPG may have failed to break the mediocrity barrier this year. A scan has been uploaded of the Star Ocean IV: The Last Hope review in a Game Informer magazine, and overall it is not looking good. The game gets a average 7, with bad animations, irritating music, and bad translation serving as the primary downfalls. The graphics and combat are apparently quite good however, meaning some will no doubt be on the edge with this one, depending on what you like.
"Yusuke Naora, one of the developers who worked on the Japanese company's latest RPG, The Last Remnant, goes on to defend especially the teenage main characters...
The format of the RPG lends itself well to having a teenage protagonist. Usually youre playing for many hours, taking a character on a journey from a relatively weak state to one of power and maturity, a gameplay journey that mirrors that of a teenager moving into adulthood. Thats certainly one of the reasons it works well hav..."

"We're going to take advantage of our booths being side-by-side, because both the Square Enix and Microsoft booths are working in tandem. This time around, we're putting the greatest importance in getting the largest number of visitors to play our games. At the Microsoft and the Square Enix booths, we're holding a lottery. The winner gets to go to the Square Enix booth and play... You'll have to wait to that day to see what happens. (laughs) "

"In the photograph youll see most of the RPGs I have in my collection. Some of them are very recent, like Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, while others are in the usual R@RE and buy it now sections of eBay on a regular basis and will no doubt pay for my pension when I retire. All in all, there are about 40 Japanese style role playing games, including the few I missed in the shot, but they all have a place in my heart, as well as the same thoughts from many players of the genre."

Today is the day of Microsoft's RPG Premiere 2008 in Japan, where the company is unveiling new RPGs to the console in an attempt to bolster the Xbox 360's pitiful last-place position in Japan. Most, if not all of the titles revealed today should make their way over to the West.

Whilst the information is in Japanese, it's still has a 'wow'-factor for the Star Ocean 4 fans.
Some scans for the next installment in the Star Ocean have surfaced from Famitsu Weekly.
Fans of the series should be happy to know longtime developer on the series tri-Ace will be working on this one, which will be more sci-fi based (you'll be able to control your own ship and travel to at least five different planets). The game takes place a few centuries before the original.
A platform or release date have still not been announced for the game.
From what most likely is the promotional DVD that comes with Star Ocean: Second Evolution for the PSP, we get three trailers for the three upcoming tri-Ace projects: Valkyrie Profile: The Accused One, Star Ocean 4 and Infinite Undiscovery.
