"So, it seems that the game will still initially need to sync with Origin while installing, based on the phrasing of the last paragraph. That is the same for Steam but where the two differ is in the delivery of patches and updates. When Steam is running it is able to access updates but without connecting through them games will not update themselves. Generally though, the two seem to be analogous and it remains to be seen how else EA may try to break Origin free from the pack."
The Knights of the Old Republic games have delighted (and frustrated) both fans and non-fans of Star Wars. The first game set a new standard for RPGs, and for fans of the Star Wars saga it gave everyone a broader glimpse at the galaxy far, far away. The problem being KOTOR II's ending left so many of us disappointed and filled with unanswered questions. Questions many fans assumed would be answered in an inevitable KOTOR III.
"Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link
Nintendo released Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link a year after the successful The Legend of Zelda charmed NES players everywhere. Unlike the top-down adventure of the first game, Zelda 2 focused on side-scrolling areas linked by an overworld, a-la Final Fantasy. Borrowing from RPGs didn’t stop there, though, as the game also incorporated a level system, spells, and a focus on towns and talking to people, who were often pretty vague, if not entirely useless. ..."
"Dragon Age: Origins is the biggest singleplayer role-playing game release of the season. It's also the only big-budget singleplayer RPG coming out this season. The RPG is one of the oldest genres in gaming, but big releases are becoming rarer each year.
We examine the state of the big-budget single-player RPG with a group of RPG developers. Each comes from a different facet of the market. Is it dying? Are the tastes of RPG gamers changing? What role do MMOs, consoles, and handhelds play? I..."
"This news is hot off the Austin GDC floor so grab it while it's hot, readers. Obsidian Entertainment (developers for Knights of the Old Republic 2, Neverwinter Nights 2, and Alpha Protocol) are hard at work on an RPG using the Aliens license. The game is being written by the writer of Icewind Dale 2, among other games, and the tile will see a full unveiling later this year."
EA has commented on the titles listed in the attached image, stating that the list "addresses future and past titles. KOTOR, Black, Boogie, Skate and some other titles on the slide speak to past portfolio releases and the pedigree of the studio but do not specifically address future sequels"
Games like Burnout and Skate have been revealed to be receiving sequels though, so not all hope is lost.

"EA has seemingly revealed that BioWare is developing a new Knights Of The Old Republic game in their analysts report yesterday. This is something that has been rumored for quite some time, most recently with rumor reports speculating it to be an MMO. But, as you can see in the image above, KOTOR is marked separate from its new MMO title, which hints that we may be getting a normal RPG done in the same style as the first two games. This is good news for those like me, who want a fully realized..."
