Greg Zeschuk and Ray Muzyka, co-founders of BioWare, have announced that some employees behind Star Wars: The Old Republic have been let go. No real reason was given for the layoffs, and an exact number involved is unknown as well.

BioWare has announced update 1.3 for Star Wars: The Old Republic. While bringing about a highly requested feature, the update is all about functionality not content. A group finder and server transfers are on the way for remaining players.

"Star Wars: The Old Republic was arguably the most anticipated MMORPG game releases of 2011, and to begin with, it appeared that Bioware had actually created a title with a chance to threaten World of Warcraft’s massive army of 10 million active subscribers. EA confirmed in an annual financial report that Star Wars: The Old Republic lost 24 percent of its subscribers in a single month. The Force might not be with them after all.

The Knights of the Old Republic games have delighted (and frustrated) both fans and non-fans of Star Wars. The first game set a new standard for RPGs, and for fans of the Star Wars saga it gave everyone a broader glimpse at the galaxy far, far away.
