"For people who actually play StarCraft, there are a lot of feature on offer that you may also like. For instance, if you are trying for a high APM (actions per minute in SC terms), the keyboard can be set so that as you progress in APM it will automatically change colour to whatever you set the different APM intervals at. Also, say if your base or units were under attack, you can set it so that at these times the keyboard will flash repeatedly as an alert to tell you something went tits up."

"Dear readers, it has come to my attention that I need to get something off my chest, something which will make me seem like less of a man. You see I have a secret. I am a coward, a wuss, why? Because I play games on Easy.

Throughout my gaming life I’ve always wanted to keep pace with my friends, those with somewhat superhuman abilities for completing games on Normal or Hard – or so they say. I didn’t want to miss out on discussions at school regarding a certain narrative point in Final Fan..."

"Activision CEO Bobby Kotick has recently made the statement that, “The Call of Duty franchise is a force of nature. I think it is the closest thing this generation has to a Star Wars. I think it’s unique and bigger than any musical act or any movie franchise in that capacity.” While we appreciate Mr. Kotick’s enthusiasm for his product, we don’t believe there’s been a game that has come close to the cultural impact that Star Wars had when it was released in 1977. However, we humbly submit fiv..."

With the growth of technology in video games, the industry has seen an increased emphasis on compelling stories. The Movie Pool has highlighted 10 games that beg to be made into films.

Looks aren't everything, and these games can prove it. In one of the most influential decades for gaming we've highlighted ten games from the 90s that have the ability to transcend the ravages of time. Did your favorite game make the list?

Let's face it. Most videogame movies suck. It's extremely hard to make the transition from videogame to the silver screen and even harder to portray the game's plot effectively within a two-hour motion picture. Here's eight games that are so good that turning them into movies would be suicide.

"An 18 year old Starcraft player has been reported as attacking a 15 year old girl. The gamer became angry when his internet connection wouldn't work and picked up a kitchen knife and headed into the street. When there he came into contact with a 15 year old girl who was on her way home from a party and laughing with a friend. He attacked her with the knife but despite several stabs her injuries were not life threatening.

The troubled teenager has now been sentenced to psychiatric care by t..."

"The largest event of its kind, BlizzCon is a celebration of Blizzard Entertainment’s Warcraft, Diablo, and StarCraft game universes and the global player communities surrounding them. At the closing ceremony on August 22, Ozzy will unleash a thunderous spectacle of rock to put the Lich King in his place and cement his own title as the one true Prince of Darkness."

I've been asked to start blogging again - a major undertaking given I have no time for anything other than showing the world how awesome UGO is deep down inside, and gaming. Not to mention I have a terrible habit of stream-of-consciousness writing without making the effort to proof read, or spell check... yeah, I'm supposed to have a grad degree. *shrug*

That said, I am unfortunately a fanboy. A fan boy that, from time to time, likes to engage in the silly x vs. y forum debates. Last night...

"Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. today announced plans for its fourth BlizzCon gaming convention, to be held at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California on Friday, August 21st and Saturday, August 22nd. BlizzCon is a celebration of the global player communities surrounding Blizzard Entertainment's Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo universes. We've heard of colleges offering courses on Tolkien's fictional cultures and languages or studying the psychology behind porno. Well, here's a new one that really hits close to home with many gamers (and Koreans).

University of Berkeley, with their stellar reputation in various fields of research, is now offering a class about Blizzard RTS game, StarCraft.

Below is an excerpt taken directly from the course syllabus; more in source link.

Following up on the 1.16 patch released for StarCraft back in November, Blizzard has put out another -- 1.61 -- and it's yours for the taking. Not much different -- the main change seems to be improved processor handling.

This one's for Windows only at the moment, though the Mac version will be coming shortly. The game can be updated via Battle.net or ActionTrip/AtomicGamer.

Russ Frushtick and Chris Plante delivers a debateable list of the games that offer infinite replay - the most value for your gaming dollar. Personally, I feel there are some glaring omissions including grind-heavy and replay friendly titles like Disgaea 3, Pixeljunk's Eden and Monsters, SPORE, NEVERWINTER NIGHTS 2 (because of the ugc adventure packs) *stern look thrown Plante's way* and Way of the Samurai 3 (though I'm the only one in the office with the import and can hiragana/katakana and s...

"Patch 1.16 offers some optimizations: "[StarCraft] now only uses as much CPU as it needs to run smoothly." In-game chat (excluding whispers) is now saved in the replays. There's some bug fixes and the removal of several exploits including Terrans drop-anywhere nukes and some additional Zerg exploits as well."

Blizzard has apparently gone trigger happy with their ban hammers this season. Anyone who has taken Diablo 2 or Starcraft online knows there are a fair few people who cheat. (I myself encountering a another player in Diablo 2 who wouldn't die even when his health was drained five times over) Blizzard is fighting back now however banning over 350000 accounts between the two games. Along with over 7000 World of Warcraft players. I'd love to see their faces when they realize what's happened.

"With over one hundred performers - including a number of international musicians - and even more people behind the scenes, Echoes of War is a fitting tribute to the epic legacy that Blizzard Entertainment has established with its music..."

Ma Jae-Yoon "sAviOr" defeated fellow Korean pro-gamer Lee Yun-Yeol "NaDa" in two sets to win BlizzCon's pro Starcraft tournament with a nice $25,000 prize.

On the Warcraft side, Park Jun "Lyn" defeated Spanish pro Pedro Duran "Lucifron" twice to come out of the lower bracket and claim the first place finish.

"The community demand was overwhelming, so we've decided to include it in the DG program as part of the RTS category.

If you recall, StarCraft was second place in the Digital Games voting poll, behind only Call of Duty 4, as the game of choice for the GGL community.

The community has spoken and we've listened. We have now included six of the top games from the original poll."

"On March 31, 1998, Blizzard Entertainment released StarCraft, a revolutionary real-time strategy game pitting three powerful and distinctive races against each other in a war-torn galaxy. In StarCraft, the resourceful terrans, mysterious protoss, and relentless zerg find themselves in a confluence of events that has only one possible outcome: an epic war for conquest and survival."

Starcraft is bringing the classic game from your computer to your table in the form of a board game. Take your pick of the three races and compete with up to 6 other players to rule the galaxy. The game will include over 180 plastic figurines, run by a card motivated combat system. The game seems to be releasing in September for the retail price of $79.95.

From what I've read this is a fanmade Starcraft 2 mock image. That weird alien version of a "tank" seems pretty cool but since it is fan made the chances of that being an actual unit are slim to none.

I don't like the look of how he/she's done the Dragoon, it looks too flat and blah. Then again, that's just my opinion. The look of the Dragoon is just different looking than what the first Starcraft ones looked like.

Overall the screenshot is pretty cool. The warping in of the pylon has t...

Lately within the last month or so there has been quite a bit of hype for Starcraft 2. Now, could this be a form a viral marketing on Blizzards side? you know, give out a couple rumors to a few "sources" and watch the wild fire of rumors fly.

Now, yet again there's more juicy rumors. This time with an exact date as to when it'll be officially talked about. You know, I don't see why Blizzard wouldn't put out a Starcraft 2. I mean sure, milk the first one for all its worth but you can't kee...

"It's been rumbling quietly and continuously in the distance for years - a sequel to one of the most popular real-time strategy games of all time, StarCraft. Murmurings, muted hints and subtle tells indicated that Blizzard were growing StarCraft 2 on the sly. Nothing has ever been confirmed, however, but the possibility has had our collective minds buzzing. For the sake of discussion, we've shied away from the outlandish, instead grounding our predictions in the realm of gameplay evolution, as..."

"According to Fighter Forum, StarCraft 2 continues the story of the original and adds a new race based on Kerrigan, making a total of four races. While that wouldn't be totally off the mark, we figured the new race would be more the super-race mix between Zerg and Protoss rather than Zerg and Terran or at least the mystically advanced Xel'Naga. The three older tribes will each be receiving around two additional units.

The report also claims that Blizzard plans to shut down its original Star..."
