"PathEngine has announced the release 5.21.00 of their pathfinding and agent movement SDK, with key features of the release being the addition of functionality for projecting 3D geometry to ground shapes, significant optimisation of pre-process data structures, and 3D content processing improvements. In addition, the team have also announced a licensing agreement with Monolith, and to Nexon for Nexon Star."

"In terms of gaming; I have managed to cram quite a bit in this week, despite the fact I should be revising for my pending examinations when I get back to school. I have unearthed some really nice titles for the Nintendo DS which I have been playing relentlessly, and I have also been getting hands on with Tomb Raider: Underworld, along with Stormrise and LittleBigPlanet. Apart from that, Battlefield Heroes has stolen an hour or so from my revision period along with short bursts of UFC Undisipu..."

GameSpot has a pretty great expose online now regarding the "DRM dilemmna" -- that is, publisher action said to minimize piracy by limiting what gamers can do with a given title for the PC.

In it they speak to DRM advocates, opponents, developers, publishers, and DRM vendors themselves -- a must-read if you're looking to gain a broader perspective on the matter at hand, or don't know what DRM is about.

"The Creative Assembly didn’t have a huge impact on next generation consoles when it launched its first inspired title for the PS3 and 360, Viking: Battle of Asgard. Though the concept was perfect, along with the setting and other well laid foundations, the execution was a little lacklustre, including a monotonous combat system that tried to shed some diversity, but unfortunately became another hack n’ slash for the pile. It was a big dip for the developers, being the only games they had ever..."

"Games are expensive and time consuming. As a consumer you deserve the best for the money you work so hard for—especially in the current economic climate. With that in mind, I have compiled a short list of games that looked promising and generated a lot of gamer attention, but ultimately proved unworthy of your cash. I’m not saying that the titles selected are horrible, because many of these games have garnered a loyal fan base and do offer a good time. Instead, the point of the article is to ..."

"The game differs greatly from traditional Real-Time Strategy games via the player’s point-of-view. Instead having an all-encompassing overhead view of the battlefield, the camera is locked to the central point of a selected unit, allowing 360º rotations; consequently a player’s line-of-sight is limited by the positioning of their units. Players can change view between units at will, and correctly establishing points across the battlefield is essential to maintaining a defensive line."

"Another month and another RTS hits the consoles, this time it’s Stormrise from The Creative Assembly (the team behind Total War). This one is an RTS game based in the future where humanity pretty much tried to control Global Warming but in typical fashion it all went wrong.

Centuries later and the humans that were left outside during the disaster left to die evolved into a mutant race known as The Sai and the humans in the cryogenic underground facilities known as The Echelon have awoken t..."

Stormrise, the gritty RTS meant to redefine console strategy games is not far from release. Sega have released a new trailer for game to commemorate this, showing aspects of the story, controls, units and other features. Go to the source to view it

Quite a release week, for PC gamers especially. First we get (finally) Dark Sector, initially planned for simultaneous release, then The Last Remnant, Battleforge..life's pretty good. Although we can't recommend you pick up Dark Sector as it contains that horrid Starforce DRM.

There isn't really much exclusive stuff (not a bad thing, really), with PS3, Xbox 360 and PC owners alike receiving Stormrise, Wanted, and Wheelman, with the latter two seeing Legends of Wrestlemania.

DS owners ca...
