Shigeru Miyamoto has been known for letting his personal hobbies and ideas leak over into his video game genius. With being a pet owner leading to Nintendogs, and gardening resulting in Pikmin. But who would think that a hamster would give him the idea of using the planets' gravity to allow the player to return to the same spot without getting lost, much like running on a wheel or in a ball.

"Choosing the best games of a decade is a tricky thing. It's tempting to simply pick your favorite games, but that's not considering the question deeply enough. The following titles were picked for the Top Ten Games of the Decade based on quality, innovation, and cultural influence. All ten of these games are titles that gamers will still be talking about in another ten years. With that, enjoy the list!"

"I recently completed Silent Hill: Shattered Memories for the Wii (expect the full review in the next issue of ONM, out on 12 February). What impressed me most wasn't the graphics or the gameplay - both of which are fantastic, by the way - but the storyline. It's the closest I've come to playing a movie on the Wii, and the plot's full of twists, turns and surprises."

After compiling All Age Gaming's choices for the 10 best PS3 and Xbox 360 games, All Age Gaming's John Elliott delves into the library of games available for the Nintendo Wii and selects his Top 10 Wii games to date. Found out his choices after the jump.

"After twenty-eight years, over one hundred games and sales of over two hundred and twenty two million, new research today reveals Mario as the best-loved videogame character of all time. Independent research carried out by YouGov across Europe places the Italian dynamo ahead of such gaming luminaries as Lara Croft, Sonic the Hedgehog, Pacman and Master Chief from Halo."

"Last time I collected NeoGAF’s great MS Paint renditions of video games, it was for a years worth. Someone decided to start the thread early, which is fine with me as a lot of great work from Junior Members of the board are now able to participate, along with some classic pieces from older members. Below are just my favorite picks, enjoy guessing which games they are from, and make sure to check the original thread which is still active on NeoGAF."

Limit Break have posted up a family line chronicling Mario's nearly 30 years of appearances, starting as Jumpman in Donkey Kong Arcade back in 1981. The "tree" depicts how the Mario franchise has branched out over the years and where some of the concepts for the popular spin-offs stem from. For example, the Mario Kart series can be traced back to the Famicom Grand Prix F-1 Race game which was released in 1987, ages before Super Mario Kart was introduced. I seriously had no idea about some of ...

"With E3 2009 winding up a lot of people have been complaining about the lack of hardcore games coming to the Wii. Nintendo has always been the more family friendly console and they have certainly been pushing for the casual gamer market with the Wii and the DS and it’s making them money so there may not be a large incentive for them to change."

At their Media Briefing for E3 2009, Nintendo has announced a sequel to its hit title: Super Mario Galaxy. Shown as a trailer during their briefing, Super Mario Galaxy 2 was formally announced for the Nintendo Wii.

"God of War II has a hidden message that appears in the sky when you trigger a secret orb stash, echoing the words of Robert Oppenheimer, the 'father of the nuclear bomb'. Gamers are some of the most dedicated and passionate fans in the world. While sports fans may know the most basic facts about their team, or movie fans may know the director of their favorite film, gamers know the developer, director, producer, publisher, composer and just about everything else there is to know about their favorite games.

Stuck for buying a game this Christmas Wii owners? Be stuck no more! There's a great variety of games out there just waiting to be bought and played. Australia gets to see its software sales for 16th of November! What topped the all consoles category? Surprisingly it's the game that's had a lot of criticism, Wii Music! Call of Duty: World at War then took second and third place on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 respectively.

Wii Music also topped the Wii section. This was followed by the popular Guitar Hero: World Tour and then the ever well selling Wii Fit.

Brain Training has done well again on the Nintendo DS taking first. MySims K...

Software Sales for the week ending on November 9th for Australia are in! The winner, Gears of War 2 for Xbox 360! This was followed by Smackdown Vs Raw 2009 for Playstation 2 in second and Wii Play for the Nintendo Wii in third.

Wii Play also took out top on the Wii chart, Mario Kart and Wii Fit still going strong in second and third respectively.

Nintendo DS top sellers were obviously for the more intellectual customer. Number one was Sight Training followed by Brain Training and More...

""What I've been saying to our development teams recently is that Twilight Princess was not a bad game, by any means. But, still, it felt like there was something missing," explains the Wii Fit creator. "And while, personally, I feel like Super Mario Galaxy was able to do some things that were very new and were very unique, at the same time, from another perspective, certain elements of it do feel somewhat conservative in terms of how far we branched out with design. And so this is something I..."

Bret Elston over at GamesRadar goes through the changes in the size (both general and relative) of one of the oldest and our favorite hero/villan pairs in video gaming history- Mario and Bowser.

From the original NES games to the new Wii releases - things have gotten a little different throughout the years.

Do you remember playing Doom and laughing at all your friends who didn't have it? Or played a recent Star Fox game and wished they'd stuck to the high standards set by Star Fox 64? Have you been a devoted Metroid fan right from the start?

This article is all about games and their transformations over the years. It gives you the run down on each game and the big changes, along with bringing back a lot of fond memories.

Are there any other games you felt have really evolved over a long pe...

Another dedicated fan has taken it upon his/her own to create yet another impressive Super Mario cake. A little smaller than the ones we are used to seeing, but a lot more detail into Mario himself.

Check it out in the image after the jump.

IGN members Matt Casamassina, Mark Bozon and Lucas Thomas have compiled a list of the twenty Nintendo Wii games that every Wii gamer should own.

It's well structured listing the name, publisher, develop, whether it's Wii exclusive, an overview, a profile picture and a video.

The first game on the list is Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and the last is Excite Truck.

Most of the list is a listing of the most popular games around, however, some are quite surprising.

Australian software sales for the week of September the 21st for all consoles, the Wii and the Nintendo DS.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed heavily dominated the all consoles top ten, also managing a respectable second on the top ten Wii games from being beaten by Wii Fit which also managed third being the best all console seller other than Star Wars. Wall-E managed top spot for the DS chart closely followed by Cooking Guide: Can't Decide What To Eat.

Another week has passed, which means it's time for some Australian game sales!

Mario Kart Wii has snatched the lead from the Wii Fit game, the Wii Play bundle is still selling steadily in third, followed by the oh-so-popular Super Smash Bros. Brawl and SingStar Amped.

Most of the games in the overall sales list are either the from the Wii or the DS. With all the success Nintendo has been having lately, I'm not surprised. To check out some console-specific sales, hit the source.

"It’s been almost a year since Nintendo stepped onto the stage of their E3 2007 press conference and threw the industry a curveball with their new take on gaming.

Let’s run down some of the major announcements at last year’s conference:

* “Super Smash Bros. Brawl,” “Super Mario Galaxy” release dates
* Wii Zapper announced
* “Mario Kart Wii” and wheel peripheral shown

More importantly, Nintendo did the opposite of their wild..."

"The average age of a video game customer now hovers around the late twenties to early thirties. The variation on either side of that average reveals a fascinating picture, too. Many of the first generation of child gamers now approaching their forties have children of their own. Whole families now gather around a game console, just as in previous generations the family gathered to watch a video or Morecambe & Wise on TV or to play Monopoly together.

If you don't play videogames, you may co..."

We hope you love basketball, because so does Mario. In fact, he also enjoys baseball, tennis, kart racing, Mario Parties and golf, and we're 99 percent sure that Nintendo will add hockey and football to his bloated all-star sports resume someday. In a recent interview with Famitsu, Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto talked about the company's new plans for 2008.
And although the interview's main focus was aimed towards his plans for the Wii Fit, the highlight was the mention of a possible Super Mario Galaxy sequel and a new Legend of Zelda title for Wii.

After feeling the fierce drop of the post-holiday shopping season, the Japanese market had some life instilled in it due to a new release reaching up to #2 on the charts. Overall, however, it's just mediocre/standard non-holiday numbers that will dominate the next couple weeks until Super Smash Bros. Brawl hits.

Japan's top-seller once again is our favorite non-game, Wii Fit, selling 92k copies. Coming in second is the aforementioned new release, the NDS version of Mario and Sonic at the...

The supercharged American holiday shopping season has passed us by, and the NPD results all show great increases. With their December 2007 report, the NPD Group has also released their Annual 2007 numbers also. As always, many thanks to the NPD Group and sonycowboy at NeoGAF for reporting and the actual numbers.

As far as I know, it is a standard four-week tracking week, from December 5 to January 1.

Quickly after updating with the previous week's pre-New Year's sales, Media Create has updated their weekly rankings to reflect the sales for the week of one the biggest holiday shopping weeks in Japan, New Year's. Nintendo regains control of the top ten after Sony's penetration the previous week, and games on Nintendo consoles make for 41 out of the 50 games in the Top 50.

The top seller for this New Year's week is the child-favorite Mario Party DS, selling 196k copies. Next up is the n...

"Although it had hefty competition, we selected Super Mario Galaxy as our Game of the Year because the spectacular platformer embodies the very best attributes of old-school game design -- namely, unsurpassed pick-up-and-play control and highly engaging, clever in-level challenges. Moreover, Galaxy truly feels like the spiritual successor to Super Mario 64 thanks to its homages to classic Mushroom Kingdom faces and places, and at the same time its new outer space theme nurtures an entirely fre..."

After a week's hiatus, we finally get Media Create's software rankings, along with hardware and software numbers for the week preceding New Year's Day. Contrary to the preceding week's Nintendo domination, games from a system not owned by Nintendo broke into the top ten. Hardware wise, it's still the same old, with the DS, PSP and Wii selling in the six figure range, while the PS3 ranges around 55k.

This week's top seller is the new Super Robot Taisen game, Super Robot Taisen OG Gaiden, ...

Best games. These really depend on people's tastes. So, different sites have different lists. Here's what QuickJump (qj.net) has as the top games of 2007. Its an all around list that includes all current-gen platforms.
Whether they are awarding games on the high powered PS3, or the innovative and fast-selling DS, they have always looked at gameplay rather than graphics. Calling all Cars is a good example of this, winning an award for it's fun gameplay!

Kotaku.com recently held a "Reader's Choice Awards" in which regulars of the site could vote for their favorite game of 2007 from each console.

And while not everyone was happy with how the awards were conducted, the results were still tallied and winners were still announced.

Read below to find out who won. You might be pleasantly surprised (but then again, if you've been keeping track of the popular games of 2007, you probably won't be).

"The critical popularity of flagship titles, mixed with continued fan attraction to established franchises and the introduction of valuable new IPs (intellectual properties), has also led to considerable commercial success. Software sales are on the rise to the tune of around $10.5 billion (through October) in the United States, while the UK gaming market has taken a total of around £1.52 billion during 2007."

"While some readers may deride the respectability of certain review sources listed on Metacritics pages, there’s little arguing with contributing numbers provided by IGN, GameSpot, GameSpy, Game Informer, Edge, 1UP, Play, and Games Radar.

Bearing that in mind, Metacritic has unveiled various "Best" and "Dud" games spread across a host of categories, which are as follows..."

Honestly, there's no other way to put it. This tracking week is still well into the holiday season in Japan, and if it were somehow possible, DS Lite and Wii numbers increased. 41 out of the Top 50 are on a Nintendo system, with no 360 showing, and Sony representing the other nine. The PSP continues the have same problem that it had last week. But still, the Nintendo numbers, frankly, are completely and utterly absurd.

At the top of the rankings is our newest DS million-seller, Mario P...

It's another zany sales week in Japan, with DS and Wii sales shooting through the roof in a Nintendo-dominated top ten, and some weird and disheartening PSP sales.

There was a flip-flop at the top of the rankings, as this week's top seller was last week's #2, Mario Party DS, selling 180k units. The #2 seller is last week's #1, Wii Fit, with 124k units sold. Rounding out the top five is the only non-DS/Wii game in the top ten, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (PS3 - 116k - BD Version), Professor L...

Welcome to this week's Media Create numbers, where we see the holiday fervor in full swing with increased numbers across the board (with exception). The combined strength of new releases and continued strong sales of recently released games both contribute to the numbers this week.

The top software seller this week is our favorite Wii non-game, Wii Fit, pushing very nearly 150k units. Following it in the #2 position is Mario Party DS, selling 107k units. Rounding out the top five are Ta...

Analyst Michael Comeau talks about Super Mario Galaxy, he says that the game is very awesome and the best game out there for Wii. However He calls the Game "Borderline Failure" basically due to the fact it only sold 500,000 copies in its first week, where most was expecting over a million in its first day. He believes the sales doesn't live up to the expectations, and claimed that if this game doesn't get over 3 million sales by the year end, he would consider the game a huge Disappointment.

Contrasting with Famitsu's numbers, Media Create has the PS3 tracking barely above the Wii. Still notable, but the overall drop is pretty shocking. We can start entertaining various possibilities over what will happen in the next few weeks to these two streams.

The top software seller this week for a second time is Mario Party DS, selling 116k units. The second-seller this week is the newcomer Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles for the Wii, selling 83k units. Rounding out the top five ...

With the new 40Gb Playstation 3 package and Dynasty Warriors 6 recent release, the Playstation 3 has now outsold the Nintendo Wii for 2 weeks in Japan. With Mario Galaxy isn't doing that well as sales go and not many games to look forward to after Super Smash Bros. Brawl. What does the Wii have for the future?

The PS3 has sold 53,000 units the week starting 12th November and ending on the 18th. While the Wii sales have decreased to 36,000.

Also the Xbox 360 has had a 5,700 increase in ...

"An image of Mario from his new title Super Mario Galaxy has been beamed on London's Battersea Power Station. Dave Yarton, General Manager for Nintendo UK had this to say about the promotion:

"Mario mania is huge and yesterday we proved it by beaming a giant image onto one of London's iconic land marks. We expect the release of Super Mario Galaxy to help break the 200 million franchise barrier.""

Pretty crazy week, this week.

The top software seller this week is Mario Party DS, selling 235k units, followed by the PS3 version of Shin Sangoku Musou 5. Rounding out the top five are last week's #1 , Super Mario Galaxy (Wii - 75k), Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift (NDS - 23k), and the 360 version of Shin Sangoku Musou 5 (360 - 22k).

However, the more shocking is the hardware numbers, with the PS3 selling 56k units, and the Wii still selling at a respectable 35k. So, s...

With a strong star t, the Wii is now in the homes of over 13 million people worldwide, and this to within a year of launch. There are currently more games being released for the Wii than that of the PS3, and in some instances than the XBOX360, however what exactly is the future of Wii games?

Take for example a game which Capcom had hoped would have done extremely well, and whilst it hasn't been a complete flop it hasn't been that successful either. The game in question is Zack & Wiki: Ques...

Gametrailers recently reviewed Super Mario Galaxy and they were impressed. Very impressed!

I've never watched the new Fox News Channel. But if this interview with Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aime is any indication, I don't need to watch. The interviewer can hardly say Reggie's title (chief operating officer) and she talks about how it's exceeding "anticipation" (I think she meant expectation). My favourite part, though, is when they post the Super Mario Galaxy metacritic at the bottom of the screen (a 96)."

What's surprising in these charts isn't what is #1, but rather, the amount at which the top game sold. Many expected higher, but this is still a decent number for only three-four days of sales.

Topping the chart this week is none other than Super Mario Galaxy for the Nintendo Wii, pushing around 251k units. In the #2 spot is a shocker, Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation for the Xbox 360, selling around 77k units. Rounding out the top five are last week's #1, Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Gri...

The UK Official Nintendo magazine has awarded Super Mario Galaxy a whooping 97%. Adding in the comments "Super Mario Galaxy is one of the finest games we've ever played". Great reviews about this game keep coming in and makes people think Nintendo fail to dissappoint yet again, which is evidently a plus.

Hayashida:I was very positive about it from the start. The concept of a spherical playing field had been around since the unveiling of ..."

Super Mario Galaxy's Creator's Voice is being translated! As such, we get to read questions asked by Nintendo President Satoru Iwata towards Super Mario Galaxy's developers.

This first part is titled "The Producer and The Director", and Iwata will converse with EAD Tokyo's Takao Shimizu and Yoshtaki Koizumi, the producer and director of Super Mario Galaxy, respectively. They talk about Mario 128, Shigeru Miyamoto's influence, and more.

    It is an enlightening read.

The new videos of the different galaxies on the Japanese Super Mario Galaxy site have some bosses shown!

    Some Giant Beetle/Crab

The was a trailer at the SpaceWorld event which dates back at the start of a new millennium they year 2000. A Gamecube tech demo was displayed showcasing 128 Mario's walking around spherical terrain. The amount of Mari's basically represented the upcoming Pikmin and the spherical terrains represented Super Mario Galaxy. Iwata continues talking about the controls of the game. So, Nintendo sent out new PR, detailing their new release schedule. Unfortunately, that includes Brawl on Feb. 10

However, there are some very amusing and hidden gems. Assassin's Creed apparently is set to be released February '08, and Advance Wars: Days of Ruin will be releasing on January 21st. There are some delays, including February 4th for Professor Layton (originally Dec. 3). It is shaping up to be a great end of '07/early '08.

Mario's final four power-ups in Super Mario Galaxy were revealed today. But first, let's go over the first two. We've already seen Mario flying around in his Bee Costume. We've also seen him floating around as a Boo-like ghost. But now, Mario could turn into a spring.

That's right, by obtaining a certain power-up, Mario will transform into a bouncy spring that will allow him to jump higher then he's ever jumped before. Many of you will be h...

So, who's got passes for E For All 2007? You're definitely gonna want one.

Nintendo has sent out this nifty piece of PR. They're going to have a booth at this year's E For All Expo. They'll have games playable for both the Wii and DS for the unwatched masses.

Included in the list of playable games, there are two of the most anticipated games. Those games? Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

After you picked up your jaw from the floor, here's the E For All homepage.

Gametrailers has released footage of the menu for Super Mario Galaxy in Japanese!

It appears you can have multiple files, and select an icon for your file including your Miis!

The Japanese site for upcoming Wii title Super Mario Galaxy has opened, and there is a video of the prologue located on the site.

"Notice the white sparkles on the corners of some of the letters, they spell out U R MR GAY. Could this possibly be an accident, or did some Xbox Live kid do the boxart design? Great lookin boxart even if it does make you MR GAY"

Nintendo had a retailer's conference yesterday in which several new Super Mario Galaxy details were revealed. According to Nintendo, Super Mario Galaxy runs in 60 fps and will make full use of Anti-aliasing. It will also run in 480p and 16:9 wide-screen.

As for the game itself, Nintendo will not say whether Luigi, Yoshi, or Princess Peach will be playable characters. (or if they're in the game at all) A Nintendo rep has also made clear that there will be many difficult levels present in th...

"Nintendo UK's brand new "Assets Library" website, confirms that Super Mario Galaxy is set for a UK/Europe release of November 16th.

After the announcement that US gamers would get Super Mario Galaxy on November 12th, alot of European gamers felt their hearts sink as it seemed unlikely that they would see the game this side of Christmas."

Box Art for Super Mario Galaxy and Donkey Kong Barrel Blast for the Nintendo Wii were released today. Check them out below and let us know what you think!

Enjoy these brand new, high quality, screenshots of Super Mario Galaxy. (in stores November 12, 2007)

These screens reveal several of Mario's new powers, such as turning into a bumble bee to fly, and turning into a ghost. They also show Mario fighting a Magikoopa and some other gigantic boss.

"Nintendo’s increasing commitment to casual gamers is plain, and now Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto has said that future games from the company will have a stronger focus on fun and immediacy, and will steer clear of being overly difficult. Forthcoming Wii platformer Super Mario Galaxy, explained Miyamoto to Japanese magazine Famitsu, would typify this new approach."

"Quite a few new details have been revealed from the new screenshots, including a levels set in the desert, on a pirate ship, and what looks to be something of a giant mechanism similar to Super Mario 64’s Tick Tock Clock stage."

If there's one thing your iconic little Apple iPod needs, it's to stay warm in winter (and especially dry in the rain!). Therefore, the arrival of this knitted iPod cover will likely thrill owners of the world's most popular music player. And, what's more, it clearly resembles the clothing of a certain heroic Italian plumber. Dry in the rain, probably not, but certainly cozy.

Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii is getting closer to release, and with that we are getting more details about the game. With two new scans released (as can be seen by clicking the images below) there seems to be a new character in our midst. She's blond, and has a crown just like Princess Peach, and Famitsu has named her as Rosetta, with no other details released about what role she will play in the game.

Those that are worrying about her taking over the role of Princess Peach, should not f...

Somewhat subdued by Microsoft and Sony's E3 standards, Nintendo rolled out a bunch of games for Wii and DS that we've known about for quite some time - and none of which offered up much by way of progression.

Instead, Nintendo chose to focus on the WiiFit system, which it hopes will get couch-bound lazy good-for-nothings up and working out rather than sitting back and clicking buttons. Good luck with that, Ninty.

"During Nintendo's E3 2007 conference, Nintendo of America Reggie Fils-Aime told the world what it wanted to hear: Super Mario Galaxy will release this year, on November 12. Along with the announcement that Super Smash Bros. Brawl will be available December 3, Nintendo is making good on its promise to deliver its "big three" this year (with Metroid Prime 3 releasing at the end of summer).

Video footage of the game shown during the conference also revealed a new bee costume for Mario. Look f..."
