There's been some talk going around lately about the relationship between Nintendo and third party developers. An example being difficulty with hardcore third party titles. Lee Evans has posted a blog entry going over some facts and figures in an effort to shed some light on the matter and the severity of the situation.

After compiling All Age Gaming's choices for the 10 best PS3 and Xbox 360 games, All Age Gaming's John Elliott delves into the library of games available for the Nintendo Wii and selects his Top 10 Wii games to date. Found out his choices after the jump.
"Thousands of gamers, anime fans and cosplayers of widely varying quality descended on ExCel, an exhibition centre in London, for one of the biggest events in the collective industrys’ calendar today, the 15th MCM Expo. Running for two days, 23rd May and 24th May 2009, those few Electronic Theatre readers who managed to miss today’s show may just have enough time to organise the necessary travelling arrangements, and grab that Bomberman outfit they’ve been saving for a special occasion."
"On Wednesday afternoon in Kyoto, Japan, Nintendo Co. Ltd. allegedly held a private conference at the Rihga Royal Hotel, where company leaders spoke to third-party publishing partners about a new service in the works for Wii owners. Called 'Wii Expand,' the addition, which utilizes the recently-released Wii System Menu 4.0's new SD card compatibility, enables players to download game expansions, modifications and updates. Insiders who attended the exclusive event said that Wii Expand would lau..."
"You know that game you play for hours every single night, and dream about playing throughout every single day? We can’t stand the damn thing. You remember that game you treasured as a child, the one you still get warm and fuzzy and misty-eyed just thinking about? Seriously, it sucks.
What follows are the “classics” our individual staffers consider crap. The overrated gems we just don’t understand. You may not agree with us, but that's okay - in most of these cases, we don't even ag..."

"Most classic video game heroes were grizzled and muscle bound dudes, at least until Samus Aran came along. Nintendo's hardcore bounty hunter crushed the notion that female characters couldn't compete with the steroid-using men in most adventure games, and when Tomb Raider's Lara Croft arrived, the following ladies achieved gender equality, thanks to their brains and combat skills."

"Having attended many many (many) MegaCon's in the past, I really feel that this little Orlando geek convention has hit a nice stride. At first I came for the comics, and kept coming despite the growing number of anime fans. But then came the video game fans, card gamers, RPGers, wrestlers, actors, playmates, and as years have passed, it is really becoming the east coast *bleep* cousin of the San Diego Comic Con (we have belly dancing at our cons, eat that Cali!)"
In a press release today, Nintendo has announced that it has formed a new subsidiary company with Sora, Ltd., the studio helmed by Super Smash Bros. creator and director Masahiro Sakurai. Project Sora currently has thirty employees, and is seeking to hire more. Masahiro Sakurai has been named the director of software development for this new s...

"So, what of the Wii for the future? At Nometet.com we hope that game developers will wise up to whats good about the Wii, and make a game where you can wave your Wiimote about and make your own moves, where you can use the balance board to shift the centre of gravity of your character, leading to a sweet game not unlike Mirrors Edge only a lot more advanced. We predict said game will arrive at the same time as the nuclear apolocalypse. Or when people stop worrying about Sarah Palin. The a..."
"There are a couple hundred registered users here, so I figured that I'd give you guys a chance to respond via the comments section and name your top 5 games from last year. Sure, I'm a little late to that party, but by now you've all had time to sit back and contemplate your picks. You don't have to give reasons behind your top 5 (although you can), just list them like this!"

"It's a frequently cited fact that Mario is more recognized worldwide than Mickey Mouse (whoever that is), meaning everyone everywhere should know what he looks like, even if his official look has matured over the years.
But in his near three decades of existing, not every official or officially licensed representation of the mild-mannered jumping guy has stuck with the program. History is rife with Mario drawings that are off, laughably bad or just plain wrong. Take our trip down memory la..."
"Fanboys have been plaguing the Internet for quite some time with their silly propaganda, heinous slander, & a laggard intellect that leaves the rest of us sane humans flabbergasted at the fact that these are the type of people we not only have to deal with on forums or blogs, but also in person typically at retailers where I purchase my games from. I just don't understand the logic behind being a fanboy, I mean the way I see it it's a lose lose situation. These companies do not compensate you..."
"Lets not forget about the console wars! There are sale charts, there are fanboys slamming other fanboys data, there are all sorts of ways to decide the winner of the console wars One of them is, of course, checking the exclusive games and thats exactly what were planning to do now. So, the battle is on: PS3 vs. Xbox 360 vs. Wii which console has the best exclusives?"
"We look at the top 12 games from several platforms in order to determine which are the Top 12 Overall Games for 2008, and you might just be surprised at the overall winner for 2008 - coming from an Xbox site. OXCGN (aka XboxOZ360-gamer) has always maintained that the staff are gamers - not fanbois. Most have more than 2 consoles and platforms to play games on and simply enjoy gaming period.
So what better way to round off the year than to take a look at what we believe to be th..."

Australia gets to see its software sales for 16th of November! What topped the all consoles category? Surprisingly it's the game that's had a lot of criticism, Wii Music! Call of Duty: World at War then took second and third place on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 respectively.
Wii Music also topped the Wii section. This was followed by the popular Guitar Hero: World Tour and then the ever well selling Wii Fit.
Brain Training has done well again on the Nintendo DS taking first. MySims K...

Iran White of wiirincontrol.com discusses how Super Smash Bros. Brawl was a big improvement, but it's not perfect. He outlines how it is flawed, the online experience being a disappointment.
The idea was what was said to be lacking in the last edition of the series. It would add massive reply value, along with the obvious that you could take on anyone around the world.
So what brings it down? It's constantly plagued by lag, you're a lucky gamer when you have a lag-free match with frien...
This topic has already been covered fairly well (see: The Problems with Game Criticism, and The Problem with Game Reviews Part 1 & 2), but until we're in a better state, it's always a positive thing, yeah?
Anyhow, Variety's Ben Fritz offers his take on the situation (as a response to Variety critic Leigh Alexander's recent blog), saying we nitpick too much and actively look for things to criticize in games instead of really valuing what needs to be valued and not letting the little stuff (...
Bret Elston over at GamesRadar goes through the changes in the size (both general and relative) of one of the oldest and our favorite hero/villan pairs in video gaming history- Mario and Bowser.
From the original NES games to the new Wii releases - things have gotten a little different throughout the years.
IGN members Matt Casamassina, Mark Bozon and Lucas Thomas have compiled a list of the twenty Nintendo Wii games that every Wii gamer should own.
It's well structured listing the name, publisher, develop, whether it's Wii exclusive, an overview, a profile picture and a video.
The first game on the list is Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and the last is Excite Truck.
Most of the list is a listing of the most popular games around, however, some are quite surprising.
No this isn't a article ripping off Super Smash Brothers. In fact this is the first episode of a series called "There Will Be Brawl". Videos which show a side of Brawl you don't see on your Nintendo Wii. Luigi is selling mushrooms, Mewtwo is a gang boss and the Ice Climbers have become muscles for hire. If nothing else it has high production values for a video of its kind. Check it out at the source. Oh and there is swearing, yes swearing.

IGN is reporting that Nintendo of America has scheduled a press event that will span across two days, October 2nd and 3rd. Details and possible announcements are currently unknown and was not given out by the company. However, this coincides with multiple sources stating that Nintendo of Japan will have their press conference on the same day. Could we see some megatons?
Last year's fall press conference brought us news such as Sonic in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Monster Hunter 3 Wii-exclu...
In the past, box art was clean and simple, such as the Atari 2600's. Nowadays, we have these amazing designs for box covers, but what if the games we play today had the same covers of the Atari 2600? the-minusworld has created some, such as Halo 3 and No More Heroes.
There's more in the source for you to check out as well.
Another week has passed, which means it's time for some Australian game sales!
Mario Kart Wii has snatched the lead from the Wii Fit game, the Wii Play bundle is still selling steadily in third, followed by the oh-so-popular Super Smash Bros. Brawl and SingStar Amped.
Most of the games in the overall sales list are either the from the Wii or the DS. With all the success Nintendo has been having lately, I'm not surprised. To check out some console-specific sales, hit the source.

They are currently working on incorporating the other countries they cover, namely Canada (NPD) and the rest of Europe (GfK). This is the one of the...
"Video game characters are increasingly becoming the poster children for gym membership. With most of gamings heroes and heroines being chiseled, pert and with cheek bones you could grate cheese on, there seems to be less and less room for the more gelatinous gentleman in the industry.
Thats why we thought wed celebrate those characters who said no to Atkins and still managed to pull off moves that would shame most gold-winning Olympians. But while they might seem fighting fit on your..."
After a recent price drop that sent Super Smash Bros. Brawl down from $50 to $40, sales on Amazon rose. Super Smash Bros. Brawl had a 1,200% sales increase earlier today, which bumped it up to second at Amazon's video game department.

Nintendo Magic over at Flickr has uploaded some pretty cool Nintendo-related cosplay for us to view! These pictures range from Jigglypuff the Pokemon, Daisy of the Mario series, even to Snake who is in Super Smash Bros. Brawl!
"Its been almost a year since Nintendo stepped onto the stage of their E3 2007 press conference and threw the industry a curveball with their new take on gaming.
Lets run down some of the major announcements at last years conference:
* Wii Fit revealed and demoed
* Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy release dates

"In an interview with Official Nintendo Magazine in the United Kingdom, Masahrio Sakurai, director for Super Smash Bros. Brawl told the magazine that at one point, Brawl's roster was much larger.
The interview, which will be available in it's entirety this Friday when the magazine is released, has Sakurai saying "I had a lot more characters, for example..", but he said that as the game moved closer to completion, more and more characters had to be cut, leaving gamers with the roster the fin..."
"With E3 around the corner, everyone can speculate all they want about whats really coming, but no one knows for sure. Nintendo needs to live up their word of satisfying the core gamer. Up until now, theyve essentially left hardcore gamers on the back burner. Casual is what theyre aiming for, but neglecting those who got you here wont help.
What bothers me about this is Nintendos definition of a core gamer. Back in early May, Nintendo Senior Marketing Director in Europe, L..."
"There has been a new commerical on Australian TV showing four dazzlingly white toothed, good looking 'Friends' completely immersed in the new Wii game Super Smash Bros Brawl.
Slightly out of focus in back of shot a girl player looks to be having a better time than Meg Ryan at a coffee shop with Tom Hanks. I realise that Nintendo believe they are a girl friendly console, but are we really expected to believe that your girlfriend or sister (hopefully they are different people) is going to get..."
"You know the score. All your favourite Nintendo characters jammed in to one game blowing each other to pieces until only one remains etc.. A simple formula, but a very effective and successful formula. The Supersmash Bros. series is famed for its pick-up-and-play nature with easy to figure out controls and a learning curve of about 5 minutes for first time players. Because of this, it fast grew in to one of Nintendos most popular titles and one of the best multiplayer games available on Nin..."
To round out his look at the strengths of the DualShock 3 and the 360 Wireless, Fuchal of NextGG.com offers his reasons behind the WiiMote officially 'rocking'...
Most would agree that the Xbox360 has the best online system on the market today with their Xbox Live service. However, with the continuing improvement of rival online systems on both PC's and the Playstation 3, is the annual fee of Xbox Live Gold Membership truly worth it, and what does it offer that the PSN and Steam don't? Read on to find out.
The May 2008 NPD numbers have been recently released, and by the looks of it, the numbers overall were below people's expectations, with hardware and software numbers decreasing since last month. Many thanks for sonycowboy at NeoGAF and the NPD Group for making the numbers available. The tracking period was a four week period, from May 4th to May 31st.
May only saw one major release: the ever-popular Wii Fit from Nintendo. The focus this month came on Grand Theft Auto IV, Mario Kart W...
Nintendo is really trying to reach out to the casual gamer with this one. On June 12, Nintendo will be hosting a Wii Sports Boxing contest in a New York City bar, but this contest is only for the ladies. The winner of this tournament will win a Wii, what a surprise!
Nintendo will also be hosting a Super Smash Bros. Brawl tournament on Father's Day. This tournament will be held in the Nintendo World store in New York City on Sunday, June 15. People of all ages and genders are invited to play.
"Re-affirming the Nintendo hates Europe tag for so many Wii owners this year was the delay between the release of Super Smash Bros. Brawl in North America and the region (itll now reach Europe on June 27). To try and justify the wait, Nintendos Laurent Fischer spoke to Official Nintendo Magazine, and explained that localisation is more than just swapping over some words.
Laurent explained:
Every time you go through localisation you then have to put it through a test, wh..."
The NPD Group recently released their tracked sales numbers for April 2008, for the four week tracking period that ends on May 3rd, 2008. Many thanks to sonycowboy at NeoGAF and the NPD Group for the numbers.
April saw the release of two major games: Grand Theft Auto IV, which shattered industry records, and Mario Kart Wii, the latest installment in Nintendo's Mario Kart franchise. You would think that there would be strong sales all around for the three current generation consoles, but ...
Nintendo has just announced Super Smash Bros. Brawl will see European shores this coming June 27, a perfect time for some good ol' wrasslin'. The game will be priced at £39.99. The game - which pits famous (and not so famous) Nintendo characters (as well as third-party ones this time around) against each other - boasts an average ranking of 94 over on Metacritic, not too shabby.

"As spring bounds in and summer edges closer, a range of new titles make their way on to the Nintendo DS and Wii. With some familiar faces, as well as brand new experiences on both consoles, there will be something for everyone to enjoy over the coming months

According to an analyst, Nintendo are having trouble selling games for the Wii due to relying too much on traditional advertisement. A prime example used is Super Smash Bros. Brawl which sold 1.4 units during its first week but the sales have now dropped by about 90%, only selling a measly 100 copies a week within the last few weeks. The analyst said they struggled to advertise in a way which would reach a broader audience. The analyst says advertising on GameInformer and 1up.com isn't enough...
March's NPD numbers are in, and boy are they a shocker. As always, many thanks to the NPD Group and sonycowboy at NeoGAF for reporting and the actual numbers.
The numbers can be found in the quote.
In regards to hardware sales, the Wii sales are astounding, taking into account that there was only one blockbuster release in March, that being Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Looking at the February NPD, the DS and the Wii both shot up from the previous month. The other systems kept relatively ...
Nobody cared about Brawl, supposedly...
That is, until GameStop stepped in and started a nationwide tournament that had over 75,000 participants. It took a while, but they've finally found the best Brawler of those 75,000 plus fans: Lee Martin of Houma, LA! To commemorate the event, Mario was even on hand to award him a $5000 check!
Mama Mia, that's a lot of games!
If you're among the gamers who frequently visit the Smash Bros. Dojo!! site for the latest 411 on Super Smash Bros. Brawl, you'll want to listen to this news. Sakurai just announced that the Dojo will no longer be receiving any further game-related updates.
Sakurai's parting letter revealed some pretty interesting info, including that the site accumulated about 300 blogs in about 11 months. The SSBB director also noted was that the highest recorded number of visitors to the site in one wee...
There is one situation most of you will be familiar with, kids totally dominating older generations at videogames. I know because I've given the beat down on my dad in more than one shooting/fighting/racing game. But why is that? How can a adult with far better coordination, motor skills and intelligence fall to a 7 year old child? Well Brandon Erickson from GameCritics.com examines the issue
Poor Sakurai. He thought it was a good idea to get fans to send in their favorite screenshots of Super Smash Bros. Brawl to put up in the official "snapshot" gallery.
Unfortunately he also recieved a bunch of "panty shots" of the female characters ... He recieved so many of them, he had to write a warning at the bottom of Brawl's gallery page ...
"When it came time to pop the question, reader Brian Klima did it right. No scoreboard message at a baseball game, no skywriting, no jewelry buried in the dessert. He proposed marriage to his one true love with all the charm and romance that is Super Smash Bros. Brawl Grab your hankies and hit the jump.
In Brian's words:
"I came home from work with the ring on Wednesday, and while she was attending her grad school classes, I got to work on a custom level that would successfully convey my..."
"You may have noticed that the game mode called The Subspace Emissary does not feature any dialogue. Its still fun that way, but there may have been some story-related items that didnt fully make sense.
So let me tell you some of the story background you couldnt have gleaned from the movies. There are some big spoilers here, including the final boss, so you may want to skip this post if you havent beaten it yet!"
"Ok Ok Ok, I know some of you have heard our shows, and read our articles. I know by now it may seem that we are out to destroy Nintendo and everything it stands for, but that is far from the truth. I like that Nintendo is about family much like in the vain of Disney, however Disney has shown that it has the abillity to offer adult content without insulting our intelligence. I dont think the same can be said for the Big N.
Now before I get knocked in the head with your hate, we all ca..."
As previously reported, the PSP is the top hardware-seller this week, mainly on the back of one surefire million-seller: Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G. The other consoles, with no major new releases this week, all take a step back, and allow the PSP into the limelight.
The top seller is Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G for the PSP, selling 880k units. The second best was last week's #1, Pokemon Ranger: Batonnage for the DS, selling 106k units. Rounding out the top five are Mobile Suit Gun...
Gamers aren't the only ones frustrated with Nintendo's lack of creativity these days. Masahiro Sakurai, the producer of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, is complaining that there aren't any new Nintendo characters that he can use in potential future Super Smash Bros. games, though it doesn't exactly come across that way.
Come on Nintendo, give in to Sakurai and the masses of gamers that could drown you out like a tidal wave already; a new character-driven video game series will mean more money. ...
Japan's caught Pokemon fever once again with the release of the newest Pokemon Ranger game, as shown by the Simple 2000 Software chart, which includes sales from March 17 to 23. Also on this list are some new releases and older favorites, such as Wii Sports, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games.
Translation credit to Kotaku.
"Its a really great premise, but, by the end a few things hold it back from really reaching the pedestal worthy of its star power. The SSE mode is a really great addition to "Brawl", and an impressive evolution of the adventure mode from "Melee", but some glaring problems stand out.
Nevertheless, I want a sequel. Ill explain why."
MTV's Multiplayer blog takes a look at the many different control schemes available for Super Smash Bros. Brawl in order to declare an overall victor in terms of efficiency and practicality. Among the input devices tested are the various Wii Remote combinations, the GameCube's controller and even some retro classics in the form of the SNES and NES controllers.
"Game reviewers are taken to task often brutally if the readership catches even a whiff of bias. Lately, discussions of game journalism have revolved around whether reviewers should be fully objective or not as if such a thing were possible. Game reviewers are cut of the same cloth as their audience, and having made their career out of it, might even be more likely than the audience is to have a few hairs rise on the back of their neck at the sound of the Hyrule Overworld theme, no matt..."
The brawl to end them all? How about the Wii to outprice them all?
Crystal Icing went all out with a Nintendo Wii system to give to the winner of the Super Smash Bros. Brawl competition. By all out, I don't mean building it from scratch with new hardware. I mean using over 20,000 crystals on the Wii system to deck it out. The lucky winner of the competition sure got his hands on a real gem of a Wii! :D
Kotaku, having played the import of Super Smash Bros Brawl for the last few months, have now got their hands on the US release. So what are their opinions of the English version? Thankfully they are one of the few sites who haven't "glossed over" the cons in Brawl, and have given an honest opinion of the highs and lows of the game.
Prepare for the fanboys uproar.
"At the initial menus you have the choice to play a match with registered friends or anyone from god knows where. This is where Nintys online implementation takes a nose dive. Now Im not sure if the servers were flooded because EVERYONE was trying to get their online Brawl on, but initially I gave up trying to connect a random match because for the first half hour I attempted, it would leave me stuck on the screen before the stage started and then say that the connection was dropped."
Nintendo's highly awaited fighter Super Smash Bros. Brawl has had it's fair share of problems recently. Shortages of the game available, bugs in the Japanese version and now disc read errors being produced by some of the versions of the game sold in North America. Whilst this hasn't been a common occurence, it's big enough for Nintendo to set up a support website to help those who are suffering from the dreaded error.
Well, Nintendo's biggest heavy hitter is out now as of yesterday, but that doesn't mean you should ignore the rest of the titles that come out this week. Also, pay attention to the Virtual Console, with some quality releases there too.

Over the past few weeks we have seen a varied assortment of games claiming a place in the top ten, and this week it's not much different, with a majority of games having released either this week or last week.
The top seller this time around is Gundam Musou Special for the PS2, selling 150k units. Coming in second is the juggernaut, Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii, selling 67k units. Rounding out the top five are Wii Fit (WII - 64k), Soma Bringer (NDS - 51k) and The Idolm@ster: Live ...
It's been a long time coming, but the wait is almost over. After suffering numerous delays, Super Smash Bros. Brawl will finally be released in less then a week. And according to IGN, the wait was totally worth it.
Brawl received an overall score of 9.5/10: with IGN praising the graphics ("Everything runs in 480p, 16:9 and at 60 frames"), audio ("One of the best soundtracks ever created"), gameplay ("Tight control, more balanced character move sets, new final smashes and more"), load-times...
"Our resident retail mole and NWR Forums regular UncleBob has informed us that his Walmart store has already received shipments of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Nintendo's all-star fighter for Wii. This delivery, and presumably many other deliveries in the Walmart chain of stores, comes eleven days ahead of the official March 9 North American release date of the game.

an unidentified Walmart warehouse.

One of the first Super Smash Bros. Brawl reviews to surface the Internet and by the looks of things, players who have been anticipating this will not be disappointed.
This game doesn't feature many negatives since the only main one's turn out to be that the game can get a repetitive and fans who have played the previous game will find it really familiar.
All in all, the game scores a fantastic score and hopefully this game sets an example of how much time and desire a game needs to be m...
Nintendo keeps running into problem after problem after problem after problem after... Well, you get the idea. They just keep having "problems" with getting Brawl out on time. First they delay it, then they don't have enough copies available to fulfill preorders, and now this. And those are just problems that they've told us; who knows what else may have gone wrong.
Well, we've got another delay. This time, Europe has to wait even longer for Brawl. Why? "Production problems," accordi...

Despite owning the import and claiming that Super Smash Bros Brawl is the 11th best Nintendo game ever, Gamedaily.com have also brought up the possibility that, to some, Brawl might suck. In fact, they have listed the top reasons as to why they think people will be disappointed with Brawl.
(Though, personally, I'm glad that there isn't any voice chat in Brawl's online mode. The last thing I want is some moronic fanboy "trash talking" me and ruining my gaming experience).
Two major juggernauts have finally been released in the land of the rising sun: Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Devil May Cry 4. The clear victor? Brawl. Also, seven of the top ten are new releases.
As such, the top seller this week is Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii, selling 820k copies. Second is the PS3 version of Devil May Cry 4, selling 205k copies. Rounding out the top five are Tales of Destiny: Director's Cut (PS2 - 117k), Haruhi Suzumiya's Wonderment (PS2 - 114k) and Wii Fit (...
You'd think that a game as highly anticipated as Super Smash Bros Brawl would be getting nothing but stellar reviews. Despite the few bugs and online errors, the rest of the game appears to be stunning. But take a quick look at GameFAQs review section, and you will see quite a variety of positive and negative reviews from gamers who have the import, with the main complaint being, (not the online mode), but the step-back in gameplay from Melee...
Here is an article which features 26 reasons in alphabetical order to why Super Smash Bros. Brawl will be the best in 2008. It's basically an A to Z about the best feature that represents each letter. Take for instance the letter A, this would be Assist Trophies.
Head over to the source to view the full A to Z list.
The popular Nintendo game Super Smash Brothers Brawl has already sold 1 million copies in it's first week. Though there was news of their being big shortages in Japan to get a copy of the game, it still managed to reach 1 million. Not bad at all. It outsold the recently release Devil May Cry 4 that did well on it's own at 200,000 copies. This is Japan's largest opening week in nine months.
With Super Smash Bros. Brawl being released recently, many gaming sites have now got their hands on a copy and are eager to write their impressions of the game. So does Brawl live up to the hype? addict3d.org certainly thinks the single-player mode does, however they are slightly disappointed with the online mode (as a few gaming sites seem to be, for one reason or another).
Recently UGO.com got their hands on a Japanese copy of Super Smash Bros. Brawl and have written a basic gameplay review of each new character: What their controls are like, Who they are similar to, Their pros and cons, etc.
~ For info on the new characters not included in this article: Diddy Kong, Lucas, Pokemon Trainer, and Olimar please go to the source.
The wait is finally over for Japan but that doesn't mean that there wasn't many who were disappointed to find out there were no more copies of Brawl waiting on shelves for them to purchase. One person who was lucky enough to purchase a copy of the game has now put it up for auction on Ebay to allow gamers who don't have the game a second chance.
The current bid is at $242.50 but with one day left before the auction is over, the amount should significantly increase seeing how many people wa...
It's not a really interesting week this time around, with this week being the week before two big games come out in Japan. As such, there is also a healthy mix of games in this top fifty that is also reflected in the top ten.
The top selling game this go around is the crtically-acclaimed nongame Wii Fit, selling 89k copies. Coming in second is World Soccer Winning Eleven: Ubiquitous Evolution 2008 for the PSP, selling 77k copies. Rounding out the top five are Lucky Star: Misasagi Sakura...
Considering the hype surrounding Super Smash Bros Brawl, Nintendo really don't seem to be on the fans' side lately. There has been major understocking, problems with the online mode, and now there is an error when the game boots up and plays videos ... and Nintendo refuses to take responsibility for it. In fact, they are blaming the fans for this one - Yes, they are blaming any bugs that Brawl might have on the customer's inability to clean their Wii. Apparently Brawl gets buggy if a Wii is c...
Now there's absolutely no excuse not to be clued up on the behemoth that is Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The latest trailer from Shigeru Miyamoto's development team gives a brief overview of each of the downright staggering amount of modes that will be made available to US Wii owners this March. This video should not be watched by those who are pregnant or are of a nervous disposition. You have been warned!
The trailer can also be viewed at the official Super Smash Bros. Brawl website...
It looks like there are already a few unhappy Super Smash Bros. Brawl fans, with the guys at Kotaku having major issues with the online mode in Brawl.
Many copies of Brawl have already been sold today, so many people will be trying to log onto the online Brawl server at the same time. And that seems to be the problem. Nintendo haven't prepared for the vast amount of people who will be online at once, and it seems that the user cannot stay online for longer than twenty minutes before being a...
Yes, the Japanese release for Super Smash Bros. Brawl is finally here, and it seems that news of the understocking has induced a mad rush of fans who are desperate to buy Brawl before it is sold out.
At midnight queues started appearing at the front of game stores, and by the time the doors opened at 9:00am hundreds of people were waiting in lines that stretched for blocks!
With Super Smash Bros. Brawl/Dairantou Smash Bros. X already out in Japan by the time you see this article, last night's update to the Iwata Asks: Super Smash Bros. Brawl interview between Nintendo President Satoru Iwata and Brawl Director Masahiro Sakurai of Sora, Ltd. reaches its conclusion with this final volume.
The Super Smash Bros. series has been one of the most popular series of games to date; no other game combines the incredible amount of Nintendo properties and series in a singl...
"On the eve of Super Smash Bros. Brawl hitting Japan, we've gotten our copy and are starting to dive in! Watch this space for new videos, impressions, and more, as we'll be adding lots as we go.
"
That's right, guys! The full roster for Brawl is finally out after just two days of being released in Hong Kong! There's a number of veterans returning plus a good number of newcomers to the Super Smash Bros. arena. Don't want to know who's in the game? Click away now.
Among the newcomers, Sonic the Hedgehog seems to be the most awaited, particularly after the April Fool's joke that he would be a playable character in Melee. Well guess what, guys. He's in Brawl and this is not an Apr...
It was recently reported that Nintendo was having major Super Smash Bros Brawl shortages. Well, it appears the shortages are worse than anyone thought, with most stores only recieving enough copies of Brawl to cover 15% - 25% of their orders! That means over three-quarters of people who have ordered Brawl will not be recieving the game when they expected!
This not only applies to Japanese stores, but also import stores as well.
"n case you didn't know, Brawl was released in Hong Kong last night. Thanks to BrawlCentral.com (Website is down at the moment) to their leaks dozens of pictures along with a few videos. Two characters that are returning without a doubt are Marth And Ness. Which you can see in the following Japanese Introduction to Super Smash Bros. Brawl."
The Iwata Asks: Super Smash Bros. Brawl interview continues on its merry way, with today's section being about the music in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Music in Brawl is by far not an oversight. Sora, Ltd. and Brawl Director Masahiro Sakurai are aiming to create what could quite possibly be one of the best videogame soundtracks of all time. With a star-studded list of musicians lending their talents to this game. It's a who's who of the Japanese video game composer scene: Koji Kondo, Nobuo...
"Sure, it's not the game. It's not even the whole manual. But there's a fever amongst you for all things Super Smash Bros Brawl, and you'll take anything and everything you can get. Like this! Sent through by someone who works at the Seattle printing press that's handling production of the game's Norteamericano manual, this is the raw run-off of some of the manual's pages. Nothing on there that'll really rock your world, but hey, if you lean close enough to the screen I'm sure you can conjure ..."
The Iwata Asks: Super Smash Bros. Brawl interview involving Nintendo President Satoru Iwata and the Director of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Masahiro Sakurai of Sora, Ltd. continues trucking along its daily weekday pace. This will probably last until Super Smash Bros. Brawl's Japanese release date of January 31st.
The part 5 of the interview, titled Plethora of New Features, will have the following topics:
Notable highlights include ...
"

Lately, we have heard only good things about Super Smash Brothers Brawl, but now a Japanese game developer who uses the alias JC Barnett has expressed concern for the new Nintendo Wii title. Surprisingly, I basically agree with his opinions of Super Smash Brothers Brawl and the Nintendo Wii. He believes that this game will confirm the fact that the Wii is not appealing to hard-core gamers and that future developers need to stick to casual games for the system. He also mentions that ..."
Yet more bad news for Super Smash Bros. Brawl fans...
It looks like Nintendo haven't made enough copies of the game to satisfy demand, and as a result are only sending a (very) small bunch of copies to each retail store in Japan. An example of this is the Lepton game store, who have 800 preorders, yet have only been sent 154 copies of the game. Ouch.
It has even gotten to the point where stores have been forced to cancel or no longer accept pre-orders for Brawl.
You would think Ninten...
The Iwata Asks series of interviews has proved to be an interesting look into the developer's insight of the games that each interview focuses on. Most recently, this had be done for Super Mario Galaxy.
Since Tuesday, there have been new sections of the new Iwata Asks: Super Smash Bros. Brawl daily, where Iwata interviews SSBB's director, Masahiro Sakurai of Sora Ltd., one-on-one.
The topic of this part of the interview is Super Smash Bros. Brawl's Adventure Mode, The Subspace Emissary...
"With expectation levels building to an absolute frenzy with Nintendo fans as the retail release of Super Smash Bros. Brawl looms ever larger on the horizon, lucky gamers in Japan will tomorrow (Jan 26) get the opportunity to put the game through its paces courtesy of demo units at 30 country-wide retailers."
Super Smash Bros. has always been billed as our favorite Nintendo game mascots duking it out for supremacy amongst themselves. In that end, Director Masahiro Sakurai wants to show us their previous battle experience.
What does that mean?
Super Smash Bros. Brawl will feature demos of games which have characters included in Brawl. The ones displayed on the Dojo update are:
Ice Climber
Super Mario Bros.
The Legend of Zelda
Kid Icarus
Kirby's Adventure
Super Metroid
Star Fox 64

"While its true you can battle over Wi-Fi, your connection environment and the distance between players can cause great changes in speed. That fact probably makes you a little uneasy.
So, we conducted an online battle between Nintendos headquarters in Kyoto and the development team in Tokyo. The distance between Kyoto and Tokyo...is nearly the same distance between Los Angeles and Las Vegas."
Possibly one of the greatest stage additions to the Super Smash Bros series. This stage is World 1-1 and 1-2 from the original Super Mario Bros game on the NES. This stage ought to bring back some memories, and while fighting, the stage will scroll across, allowing you to enjoy the entire level of the original game.
Also with this update is the music for this stage, based on the music of the original Super Mario Bros as well.
Ladies and gentleman without further ado allow me to present you with the the final roster of the Brawl roster. As you can see these screens indicate that each character is at it's correct position if compared with both screens, although this is still speculation but nearly all the recent rumours flowing around Brawl have been true lately. This game is taking so long to be released that there is hardly anything left for Nintendo to hide.
This is still a rumour and nothing has been confirme...
Keep your friends close, but know your enemy's moves. That's now the name of the game in Super Smash Bros. Brawl thanks to Pokemon's latest legendary Pokemon, Manaphy! This Pokemon has a very special ability when it's released from a PokeBall. It causes you and an opponent to swap bodies! That's right, you fight as your opponent. Be careful, though; the damage meter stays the same and if you jump off a cliff, it still counts against you instead of your opponent. Just make sure you're we...
Back in 2005, a Famitsu article was published that mentioned something about a certain developer working on Brawl, along with Nintendo. This came straight from the mouth of Smash Bros. director, Masahiro Sakurai. Today, that "mystery developer" was revealed. Numerous staff members from GameArts!, a Japanese video game developer, have been secretly working on Brawl all this time.
GameArts! are most famous for developing the Grandia and Lunar RPG series, both highly successful in Japan.
"Theres a web page nestled within Nintendos official site where Mr. Iwata, President of Nintendo Co. Ltd., interviews other Nintendo employees. This corner of the website is known as "Iwata Asks."
For some reason, I, Masahiro Sakurai, was invited to one of these interviews.
Wha--?
But Im not a Nintendo employee! I-is this OK? Are we seriously doing this? Oh, is that so? All right, well, if you insist!
I imagine this interview should give you a tiny glimpse behind the curtains..."
"Hello, Everyone. My name is Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo Co., Ltd. Beginning today, I would like to deliver an interview that explains the vision and the development process behind the creation of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. But before we begin, I would like to offer an apology.
With the completion of the game falling behind schedule, we were unable to keep our promised release date, despite our greatest efforts in attempting to release this game on time. I would like to extend my mos..."
"Its not everyday we find out new information about Super Smash Bros. Brawl before its official on the Dojo. We recently learned of the stickers update on the Dojo, where you can attach stickers to characters to power them up, however some are restricted to certain characters and the details are marked with little icons of the characters face to tell the difference. When some stickers were shown in a recent Japanese Brawl video, the details part was blurred out, but the video was updated w..."
For a long time, Brawl fans have been holding their breath for the announcement of Sheik, and with the release date getting closer and closer it was beginning to look grim.
But now it's finally 100% official - Sheik will appear in Super Smash Bros. Brawl!
[go to source for more info]
Brawl keeps looking better and better. I have a feeling that Brawl will be everything we have been hoping for. More great news includes the reference of a lengthy single player. While we can't be entirely sure on the reliability of Japanese Gaming Magazines, they can be quote based afterall, 40/40 is still an achievement kept for high class games. Then again Brawl is very hyped, although that mostly comes from the great stuff we see on the Dojo. I have to be honest my hopes are up dangerously...
Yet more bad news about Super Smash Bros Brawl's release date. Not only has the game been delayed in America (NA fans must now wait until early March to get their hands on Brawl), but Nintendo is also refusing to reveal a PAL release date, leaving European and Australian gamers completely in the dark.
"No European date has ever been announced for Smash Bros", said a Nintendo spokesperson today. Ouch!
Well, today's update brings some good news, and some bad news.
The good news is that the Pikmin stage is revealed: Distant Planet. The stage is really gosh-darned pretty, with lots of interaction with the actual stage itself. Should be fun to play on.
The bad news is that Brawl has been officially delayed once again, from February 10, 2008 to March 9, 2008. Another month to wait, sigh.
Super Smash Bros Brawl for the Wii was meant to be released at the end of last year, but was then delayed till 10th Feburary 2008. Now reports are indicating another delay which moves SSBB to the second week of March. So an extra month players must wait for to elapse. Anticipation and frustration is building up simultaneously for Wii players around the globe. Like the articles says, it is only a matter of time before Nintendo announce the delay and then we hear cries of anger from impatient p...
The latest update for the Smash Bros. DOJO is a new playable character. This character is none other than Captain Olimar from the Pikmin series!
Captain Olimar will have to pluck Pikmin from the ground; they will also constitute his smash attack.
Hooray for new characters.
This update is also a double update, with the other being music from Pikmin: World Map.
After a week-long hiatus for the New Year's holidays, the Smash Bros. DOJO went back to work the other day, with yesterday re-introducing past stages from the previous game.
Today's update is a new game mode: Multi-Man Brawl, in the same vein as the Multi-Man Melee in the previous game. However, instead of the Wireframes, we get a new set of foes to send off: the Meteos-looking Fighting Alloy Team. Through the menu screenshot, we see that the confirmed modes are 10-Man Brawl, 100-Man Bra...
"Expectant Wii fans (im)patiently waiting for the arrival of Super Smash Bros Brawl and its impressive canon of prominent battling Nintendo characters are facing the possibility of receiving an advance playable demo of the game via the Wiis Shopping Channel."
With the release of Brawl quickly approaching in Japan (Jan 24), Nintendo has confirmed to us that Brawl has gone gold. This means that the final product of Brawl has been sent to Nintendo's factories, and retail copies are being produced right now.
February 10th can't come soon enough!
I can't fathom how much content is getting put into Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It's bordering on ridiculously insane.
Simply not content with just giving us an already robust battle system, a fully fleshed out adventure mode, and a boatload of other features, Sakurai and the team at Sora updated the Dojo today with news of a new minigame: Coin Launcher. This is to replace the dispenser machine that was seen in Melee, and gives us a fun way to earn new trophies and stickers.
The actual g...
The annual Top Ten Vaporware Games of 2007 went up recently, and looking from the list, most of the winning games are PS3 titles--more specifically, PS3 titles that are yet to be released. Well, the rules for this list don't exactly follow the ones of the usual ones. The major one being that the games don't need to have a 2007 release date on it. However, for it to make the list it needs to have attained a certain level of "hype."
And it's no surprise that the No.1 on this list is the much...
A recent Bionic Commando podcast reveals Keiji Inafune's (the creator of Mega Man) commentary on Mega Man in Brawl. Inafune states that though he likes the Smash series and would like to have Mega Man featured, Nintendo has not yet asked.
Is he teasing, covering up an unwillingness to announce the blue bomber on the Dojo by HAL, or is Mega Man just not in yet? Though there's no way to tell, we at least know that the father of Mega Man is interested in having the blue bomber enter the Brawl.
The newest SSBB stage is the Frigate Orpheon. It hails from the Metroid Prime series.
It looks extremely interesting. Sakurai says that for a ship that causes so much trouble, it "sure does have a lot of problems". One example is that the lights go out.
Another that will make this stage interesting is the fact that it can flip. That's right....flip. Two stages in one!
We have once again gotten a stage confirmation!
This time, it's the Mario Circuit. It was in past videos, so we knew the basics, but now we know the whole story.
The fight takes place at the crossing of the Figure 8 track. When
Shy Guy's come from behind, then they go across the ground. When they go from side to side, they jump over the tallest platform.
Since it would be a little hard to tell where they are otherwise, Sakurai has given us a little board towards the back of the ...
"Hotly anticipated Wii title Super Smash Bros. Brawl won't be coming out in Europe until after June 2008, Nintendo has confirmed to VideoGamer.com.
We thought something was up when we noticed the game was absent from Nintendo's updated schedule, distributed to media this morning. This seemed odd considering Mario Kart Wii, another high-profile first-party Wii game, was listed as coming out in Q2.
When contacted by VideoGamer.com a Nintendo spokesperson revealed that SSBB won't be out unt..."
Yes, here they are, some interesting new costumes for Brawl. However, not only do they look sexy, but there are six of them to choose from. Each of the costumes you see in the pictures may seem familiar to certain fans of the series in which the characters originate from. Such as, Mario in his Fire suit, Dark Link, Snake in his different camoflauge, Samus in her Fusion suit and many others. So Check 'em out!
With the new 40Gb Playstation 3 package and Dynasty Warriors 6 recent release, the Playstation 3 has now outsold the Nintendo Wii for 2 weeks in Japan. With Mario Galaxy isn't doing that well as sales go and not many games to look forward to after Super Smash Bros. Brawl. What does the Wii have for the future?
The PS3 has sold 53,000 units the week starting 12th November and ending on the 18th. While the Wii sales have decreased to 36,000.
Also the Xbox 360 has had a 5,700 increase in ...
"Saki Amamiya appears from Sin & Punishment: Successor to the Earth! This title is currently available via the Virtual Console.
He uses his weapon, the Cannon Sword, which combines a sword and a gun into one to slice and shoot!
As with the original title, he speaks in English.
He rivals just about any main character. There were many requests from users for his inclusion, and he IS pretty cool, so I did what I could to include him. After all, this game does let you enjoy a dream cast o..."
For today's Super Smash Bros. Brawl update, we get some more functionality for the Nintendo WFC: Spectator Mode.
In effect, you get to watch online matches as a sort of TV show: you don't get to see names, and matches are random, but it's still a neat and interesting mode where you can observe play styles of different people.
You can also use the coins you earn in Classic Mode to wager on which player will be victorious. The losers will get runner-up prizes of stickers.
Should be an...
"If you want to show your opponent a little flair, you can do moves unrelated to battleits called taunting. You do it with the +Control Pad, except when using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk.
This time, you do one of three different taunts, depending on the direction you press the +Control Pad!
There are a variety of patterns for you to enjoy.
With Wii Remote + Nunchuk control, taunts are handled with the 1 Button (up taunt), the 2 Button (down taunt) and the 1 and 2 Buttons simultaneo..."
Norfair is Samus' stage in the ne installment of the SSB series, SSB: Brawl.
It has only five platforms and lava coming from all directions. Sometimes it will randomly flow dow on the screen.....However, when it does so, an 'emergency hatch' opens as well, keeping whoever gets inside safe from harm. It will then close, locking all others out.
In the very least, it sounds like an extremely interesting survival level.
Yes you read that right, if Solid Snake wasn't enough for you another MGS character has now been confirmed. That character is the awesome Grey Fox.
Unfortunately Grey Fox is only a assist character where in a level he enters performs a combo on the character that gets in his way and exits.
Hopefully more characters to be confirmed before the release of this game.
The Sumit is the newest SSBB stage, and yes, it's the Ice Climbers' stage.
Thankfully, it isn't nearly as bad as their old one. Instead, you are just on a moving glacier. At some point in time, the glacier falls into the ocean. After that, the Polar Bear can jump on the massive piece of ice, causing it to sink.
Did I mention? Balloon Fighter's fish appears swimming therough the water, and seems as if it will 'attack' you as it did in the original Balloon Fighter.
"This is the classic single-player modehence the name, Classic.
In this mode, you try to clear each stage as you go.
Choose your favorite character and a difficulty level, then start the match!
Fight whoever appears!
The world you fight in is pretty much determined based on stage number. Stage 1 is based on The Legend of Zelda. Stage 3 is based on Pokémon. And each time, the characters are chosen randomly.
Youll also find the status of enemies and rules of the match vary sl..."
For today's update, Sakurai and Nintendo unleashed a Stage Builder mode, where you can create your own stages where you can design the layout, choose a backdrop, and the background music (from whatever you have available.)
The also more interesting feature of this builder mode is that it is Wifi-enabled, allowing users to send to friends and Nintendo. Nintendo is also considering a daily stage-of-the-day, and allowing everyone to play said stage on that given day. Apparently, the only dr...
"A handful of tipsters have written in today to let us know about a potential look at one unannounced character who may be appearing in Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii. Accomplished voice actress Alesia Glidewell, who will perform Zero Suit Samus' speaking partswhich I can assume amount to brief proclamations of victory and simple catchphrasesalso lists Krystal from Star Fox and Knuckle Joe from the Kirby series in her online resume.
Knuckle Joe has already been confirmed as an Assi..."
Today we get a very exciting update....It seems that all of the Kirby characters have made it into Brawl! Kirby, alongside the already confrimed Metaknight, is joined by his long-time recurring rival, King Dedede!
Personally, I'm excited. He delivers powerful blows with his hammer, and is apparently a heavy-weight style character like DK and Bowser.
A 'Break-the-Targets' mode has been included in Brawl! We all expected this to happen, but it is goo to get solid confirmation, as always.
This time, each character apparently gets five stages with varying levels of difficulty for those that really want to smash some targets.
Also, we can record data on what looks to be any mode of Brawl....As in, record a short film. Only three minutes worth, however. We can then send it to friends over Wi-fi.
The reason to why Brawl was delayed is because many people were complaining about how all the games are being released during the holiday season. Plus just before you think Nintendo is scared to release this holiday season beacuse of another game think again. Nintendo says that a hit will always be a hit no matter what time of year. What also contributed to the delay is to polish the game up a little bit more as the Japanese's public are hoping for a perfect game and that's what Nintendo is h...
The newest, craziest SSBB stage yet has just been introduced, and it's the PictoChat stage.
Doodles appear seemingly randomly, and each has a different effect on the stage. These vary from the obvious, such as extra platforms, to the not so obvious, such as balls of fire.
Sakurai only told and showed us a few of the stages insane effects... PictoChat looks to be even stranger then the WarioWare stage! It seems as though this will be the hardest stage in Brawl to play on because of the...
If you've been one of the fans that has been constantly visiting the Smash Dojo, then here is an interesting secret that has been revealed, by someone who investigated in this matter further than others. He was able to narrow down who will be announced soon and narrowed down how many characters are left to be announced. It's pretty interesting as it all makes sense. What makes it more interesting is that all this has been told by the URL's of the site. Have a read yourself.
At the new E For All expo, KiwiBox were lucky enough to get an interview with a Nintendo representative, who divulged some info on the Wii game, Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
And fortunately for fans, an accidental slip of the tongue seemed to have happened, with the rep revealing that Luigi will be a playable character. Oops!
Little Mac is the newest character to be confirmed as an Assist Trophy for Super Smash Brothers: Brawl.
Some may remember him from the old game, Punch Out!! A fair number of people wanted him to be playable, but here he is.
It appears as though he dashes towards an opponent of the one who released him, executes a one-two punch, and then does a fantastic uppercut. He seems to act a little like Knuckle Joe, a Kirby character who was confirmed to be an AT.
In the recent Famitsu issue here are the top 20 games most wanted from Japan's biggest games magazine. It's a really interesting list as what dominates the list in being No.1 is Dragon Quest IX for the Nintendo DS and then followed by Final Fantasy XIII which was at No.1. Third place comes the highly anticipated Resident Evil 5. A list containing top notch games. Too bad only one game from 360 makes it.
"We've touched on this before but today we're being given a bit more information on Smash Bros. photography!
Pause the game at any time during a brawl and you'll be able to take a photo. So if you see anything funny or unusual, all you have to do is press pause and you can capture it forever. Then you can save it to your SD card or send it to friends online via Wi-Fi Connection."
At the Nintendo Media Summit in San Fransico CA. IGN got their hands on one of the most anticipated wii titles. They got to play Super Smash bros. Brawl. In the demo 14 fighters and 10 stages were playable. Although out of all the fighters they seemed to love Meta Knight the most. Meta Knight is capable of unleashing a fury of fast attacks, a controllable whirlwind, and can easily lead you to victories. The resently confirmed Sonic is a very fast character with alot of combos. For the contro...
So, Nintendo sent out new PR, detailing their new release schedule. Unfortunately, that includes Brawl on Feb. 10
However, there are some very amusing and hidden gems. Assassin's Creed apparently is set to be released February '08, and Advance Wars: Days of Ruin will be releasing on January 21st. There are some delays, including February 4th for Professor Layton (originally Dec. 3). It is shaping up to be a great end of '07/early '08.
Take note that this is a partial list. Most not...
"Smash Bros. Brawl Delayed Until Feb. 10th In North America
by Billy Berghammer
POSTED: 10/11/2007 11:21 AM
hile many Nintendo fans were hoping Super Smash Bros. Brawl would make it stateside this year, after Nintendo held their Fall briefing in Japan earlier this week and announced a delay, people got nervous.
Today at Nintendo's Fall Gamers' Summit they revealed that Super Smash Bros. Brawl will also get pushed back in North America, and be released on February 10th.
Game Informe..."
Super Smash Bros. Brawl has now been officially delayed by Nintendo to be released in January next year. This is in Japan of course. When will it arrive in the U.S & U.K is still TBC. Sonic has now also been confirmed to be in the SSBB roster. I guess Nintedo listened to all the cries on the Internet. Online coop has also been introduced, this should enhance gameplay and leave SSBB for a longer period of time in your Wii. Nintendo are still tight lipped about how this feature will work. Last ...
Well, Sonic's in. Character update and movie update. Let the internets rejoice, and the worst-kept secret ever is revealed.
Oh yeah. This is so very sweet.
Mario vs. Sonic? Snake vs. Sonic? Oh lordie lord, the possibilities.
The movie shown at Nintendo's Fall Press Conference 2007 is also posted.
Unfortunately, the release date also changed to TBD.
Hi folks, Nintendo just let out the big one.
From Ge-maga via IGN, a live-blog of a live-blog of Nintendo's Japanese Fall Press Conference has let loose the megaton.
Here are the notables (Thanks evilmax17 at CAG for list compiling. Thanks!):
Fire Emblem DS
Mario Baseball Wii - Super Mario Stadium Baseball
7,800,000 VC downloads (JPN? Worldwide?)
Pokemon Ranch: Wii Ware, can upload Pokémon from DS to be raised on the Wii.
Dr. Mario: Wii Ware
Nintendo Wii Ware with three screens
...
So, who's got passes for E For All 2007? You're definitely gonna want one.
Nintendo has sent out this nifty piece of PR. They're going to have a booth at this year's E For All Expo. They'll have games playable for both the Wii and DS for the unwatched masses.
Included in the list of playable games, there are two of the most anticipated games. Those games? Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
After you picked up your jaw from the floor, here's the E For All homepage.
For the latest Smash Brothers update on the website, Sakurai confirms co-op or teams for the new Subspace Emissary Adventure Mode. Some prayers have been answered for today. We know that the camera will follow Player 1 so if your friend gets separated from the screen scroll then they'll space jump back to your side! As well you can form teams based on the development in the story. So every time you lose a life, you will change into another character on your team.
"The Dojo updated this morning with an update sure to please Mother/Earthbound fans. Sakurai confirmed that Lucas, the star of the Japanese-only Mother 3, will be joining the Brawl roster. Perhaps this exposure of the character will help Mother 3 release well in the US, so could a release date not be far off? But what about the fans of Ness? Chances of him returning are sort of slim now, but its still possible as Sakurai even teases on the issue in his post."
"Its Mr. Resetti from Animal Crossing. At long last he makes his appearance!
Im just going to come out and say it: when Mr. Resetti appears, all he does is lecture you. Whether youve reset the game or not, he just lectures...
With Mr. Resetti, you can enjoy these terribly appreciated lectures even in Smash. Hes an Assist Trophy like no other."
Snake finally makes his appearance as the daily update for Smash Bros Dojo. Armed with quite a few of his weapons and some of his stealthy attacks, he will probably be a choice of a lot of people. Also included with this update today is Snake's Special Moves and the MGS4 Love Theme as a song.
"A younger version of Snake is seen hovering down into battle before squaring off against Super Marios arch nemesis, one King Bowser, in what appears to be a bout taking place outside the Mushroom Kingdoms royal residence. The earlier trailer saw the Metal Gear Solid star hiding in his trademark cardboard box, but whether it has been included in the main game is not yet known."
Yes! Wi-Fi Play is finally confirmed for Brawl! You can play against friends, invite to matches, and say short messages in-game. You can also play with random people from all around! This is a big relief to all those who wanted online play, and by the looks of it, it is pretty well planned out. While waiting for matches to start, you can even play minigames by yourself! Man, they're good.
"A young girl from the Sacae plains, Lyn (whose true name is Lyndis) makes a guest appearance from the Game Boy Advance game Fire Emblem.
She wields what looks like a classical Japanese sword, so shes similar to Samurai Goroh, but her sword strokes are a little different from his reckless slashing.
Youll get helplessly cut down if you suffer a solid blow from this blade. If you call her forth as your ally, grab your enemies to make them easier for her to hit."
Yes, Super Smash Bros Brawl's game director Masahiro Sakurai revealed a new stage called "Pokemon Stadium 2"
The sequel of Pokemon Stadium on Super Smash Bros Melee.
This stage, like others will have some effects towards it.
The stage will change to four formations: Electric, Ground, Flying and Ice. All having different effects in gameplay.
There will also be some Pokemon that will be on the stage depending on its form (ice, ground, electric or flying)
"Characters like Pit, Meta Knight and the Pokémon Trainers Charizard are envied at first glance for their wings.
Rumor has it they can use those wings to sail through sky like gliders. But that cant be true, can it?
Magnificent!
From the perspective of the rules of Smash, I sense that mastering this skill could be quite beneficial. That is, IF you can master it...
You dont have to hold down the jump button, though. At the peak of your midair jump, you can also rapidly tilt t..."
Yes, Andross the old enemy of Starfox, is finally in Super Smash Brothers, appearing in the Super Smash Bros Brawl, which is due out December 3rd of this year.
On the down side, Andross will not playable as he will only appear as an assist trophy.
According to the official Havok website, the upcoming Wii entry to the Super Smash Bros. series will use 'Havok Physics.' By using dynamical simulation, Havok allows for more lifelike worlds and animation, such as ragdoll physics. Brawl is the first game in the series to use Havok Physics.
Also on the list of Wii games using Havok Physics is Disaster: Day of Crisis, Nintendo's upcoming action-survival game.
"Donkey Kongs pal has finally joined the battle! Unfortunately, screenshots fail to truly capture the way he moves.
He scrambles around the battle, using whimsical fighting moves while wielding both his Rocketbarrel Boost and Peanut Pop Gun!"
"The videogame industrys annual summer drought is finally coming to an end (Editor Stevie has been dreading his weekly New Releases post for months), and the collective sighs of relieved retailers is now audibly mixing with the breathy anticipation of developers gearing up to unleash their wares upon the expectant masses.
In celebration of 2007s richest gaming months still being ahead of us, this lowly writer discusses which of the big three home consoles (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Ninte..."
You're probably wondering what the heck we get to play as a Pokemon Trainer! Sound stupid? Well read before you make your full decision. First we get two updates today of the character and as well a few special moves. But before we get through let me tell you that you won't play as the actual trainer but three Pokemon...Squirtle, Ivysaur and Charizard. The classic starter Pokemon from years ago. But how do we play with all three? Easy we start off with one Pokemon like Squirtle and as if th...
The new Adventure Mode has been revealed in Super Smash Bros Brawl, The Subspace Emissary. This time around, the adventures have storylines. Thirteen new screenshots and one new video are up, which also include Princess Peach in them. This story will have you battling many enemies, meeting up with past characters from past games, and getting past every obstacle that comes your way.
"Ive been working with Sakurai for a very long time with this new Smash Bros., because the Wii came out and when discussion for a new Smash Bros. took place nobody could think of anyone other than Sakurai working on it. He was kind of the default, and I was very happy to hear that he would be working on it. Actually, my designers did work on the designs for Sheik and Link and Ganondorf. So they submitted the initial designs, and so it would fit in the Smash Bros. Brawl environment, theyve ..."
"From Fire Emblem, Ike appears! The fact that he can wield a two-handed sword with a single hand is a testament to his magnificent strength.
He brings his special move "Aether" with him as he crashes the Brawl party. Try for a single-stroke finishing blow with his mighty blade!"
"Yoshis back and bursting with personality! He can launch consecutive attacks and even smack around enemies below him mid-flight.
Among other things, he can now use his up special move, the Egg Toss, to increase the distance of his jump. Thats enough to earn him a hearty welcome, isnt it?"
Another stage confirmed for the upcoming Smash Brothers game. This one comes in the form of a Donkey Kong stage. Based on the look and feel from Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat, the key is to keep climbing up. Sounds like Icicle Mountain from Melee. But the screen slowly goes up and it might be wise to do so as well...but don't forget to go after your opponents as well.
"Ive been following this story for a few days now, and I still dont believe it to be true. Since the Sonic gurus over at Sonic Stadium posted, I feel a little bit safer making a post! Long story short, a magazine scan popped up that says Sonic is already in Brawl, and Sega just needs to give the final okay. Check out the scan for yourself (not in English). I think it looks fake how bout you? Can anyone confirm? Thanks to everyone that sent this in."
"Wait a second... Is this...an Animal Crossing stage?! And the name...well... Go ahead and poke fun if you must.
Its very clearly the world of Animal Crossingeven the changing scenery of day and night is determined by the Wiis internal clock.
And what do you think of all those guests hanging out? There sure are a lot. Its like they all came to watch the big event.
But theres more...
If you play a match here on Saturday at 8PM...
Oh, Im too excited to even say it!"
"During its press conference during 2006's Electronics Entertainment Expo, Nintendo took the wraps off its next installment in the highly anticipated brawler featuring classic video game characters, Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Wii. At the time, the game was dated to arrive in early 2007, though that date was later bumped at the Nintendo Summit in May. However, Reggie was quick to reaffirm that Super Smash Bros. Brawl would still make it to market in 2007.
Now, a year and some change lat..."
You may not remember who Dr. Wright is, or what game he's from, but old gamers will be able to tell you that he's from the SNES version of SimCity.
And his power... as an Assist Trophy, Dr. Wright has the power to make buildings pop-up out of no-where... I believe he did this in SimCity as well.
"This area appeared in the Wii game The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. If youve played that title, you ought to remember this place.
And the enemy leader, King Bulblin, makes cameo appearances. Occasionally, he uses bombs to blast holes in the stage.
But dont worry. The missing chunk will be magically transported via portal to fill in the gap."
"Theres a variety of attacks in Smash Bros., and they all involve some combination of strength and direction. Let me start here by talking about strength.
Standard Attack
If you just press the attack button, youll perform a standard attack. These are generally speedy.
Strong Attack
When you tilt the stick in a direction, youll do a stronger attack in that direction. These attacks usually have longer reach.
Smash Attack
Now, if you simultaneously tilt the stick and press..."
"Disappointing news for Nintendo fans looking for hands-on impressions of Super Smash Bros. Brawl -- the Wii fighting game won't be playable at next week's E3.
Game|Life's media relations representative at Nintendo confirmed the news this afternoon, but stressed that Smash Bros. was still very much on for its 2007 release date.
Several never-before-seen Wii titles will be announced and playable at the show, but due to the constrictive, tightly scheduled nature of this year's scaled-back ..."
"The biggest and the heaviest of fighters, Bowser has a slightly different flavor this time around!
To be honest, there are a LOT of characters that offer a slightly different flavor this time around. If you think theyre all going to be the same as they have been, itll be rough for you."
"Whats an Assist Trophy?!
Well, these are characters who appear to aid the fighter that called them forth. Basically, theyre guest characters separate from Smashs playable roster!
Super Smash Bros. Brawl is sort of like a festival that all sorts of characters show up for. Bear in mind, though, that you cant control any of the characters appearing on these pages. Let there be no mistake about that.
In any case, you wont know who is in an Assist Trophy until you use it.
Ass..."
"Among the songs played in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time were many famous tunes that had a profound effect on the future of the series.
Were using those songs in an extravagant medley hereits the preeminent Zelda listening experience!
And to think this will be played in-game. I think thats just fantastic."
Princess Zelda comes to join SSBB too! Yup yup, it is really true!
Zelda changed alot too, like Link. Theyre design has changed. Its more realistic now.
she isnt strong, but her magic is strong enough to help her.
Next update is Zelda! Welcome!
"The Lylat System is the general term for the region of space featured in the Star Fox games.
Here, you will fight on top of a spaceship while warping to various locations.
"The fight rages on as the ship barrels through asteroids, dogfights, and even the atmosphere of Corneria."
""Many fans clamored for Wario to join the fray, and so now he finally makes his appearance...in his WarioWare costume.
Its rumored that this unpredictable character will give birth to a form of martial arts that other characters cannot even see.""
Pikachu's final smash has been confirmed.
The Volt Tackle. Now, I know that sounds similar from SSBM, but it looks alot different after checking the screen shots. See for yourself. He may be one of the current best so far with this new attack.
"Is he using the Triforce to slash enemies? Or is it the Triforce doing the slashing?
You dont have time to ponder such questions, as Link has just grabbed a Smash Ball.
Light shoots out from the Triforce on the back of Links hand, striking his opponents!
Link dashes into the fray! Enemies are trapped by the Triforce.
He strikes repeatedly with lightning speed!
And then comes the finishing strike! SKRAAAAH!
If you suffer this fate, there is little hope for you. But rememb..."
There´s the next update for today. The Crate and Barrels are totally Back! And they have something new! This time, they visually change to when its on a different stage! Like on a Fantastic stages, they will change into presents! Its Awesome! when you receive it, the open it for items! Or could it fool you by bombs or maybe nothing?
Yes! A new update today! This time it is a new song. This is the third song-sample we could listen to. After "Menu 1" and "Yoshi´s End" we now have "Metroid: Bss Battle Music (Ridley Fight). Its the arranged-theme version for Ridley. Its also clear that Ridley will be a boss in SSBB.
Lets wait until the next update!
""The pastel stage of Yoshis Island...
Mmm... It feels nice and peaceful here."
"Shy Guys often make guest appearances, and the Support Ghost can appear suddenly, aiding players on occasion."
"The highlight of this stage is its seasonal changes, as it goes from spring to summer to fall and then winter."
"It certainly has its own distinct air.
Change is sometimes good.""
"Fox is just one of many so-called speed characters. His costume has been completely updated, so hes full of fighting spirit.
Run! Fly! Move boldly! For such moves are the essence of Fox!"
So, have you thought about how you will be able to play Super Smash Brothers Brawl for the Nintendo Wii? Well, good news! SSBB will be compatible with all Wii controllers which includes the Wii Remote Wii Remote + Nunchuck, Classic Controller and the GameCube Controller. Looks like Wii owners who plan to get this game will have a nice variety of choices in terms of controllers.
"Super Smash Bros. Brawl is Nintendo's latest incarnation in the popular Super Smash Bros. series of titles featuring all new characters ranging from Kirby and Wario to Samus, and even Metal Gear Solid's Snake."
"Characters hold the Cracker Launcher with both hands, and then unleash a wave of colorful explosions upon enemies. Characters can move around and jump while holding this item. Players can tilt the control stick up or down to aim the Cracker Launcher at different angles, although Director Masahiro Sakurai did not clearly specify if he meant the GameCube or Classic Controller, or the Wii Remote and Nunchuk."
Fans looking forward to Super Smash Bros. Brawl will know by now that the official site for the upcoming Wii title has been updated with a countdown to a site relaunch in under one week's time (at time of writing). Who knows what we can expect to see by early next week. Let's hope the hype doesn't end up killing the Smash Bros. faithful in the process.
