"Return to the mystical world of Hyrule in the classic title, The Legend of Zelda, now available on Virtual Console for Nintendo 3DS. Also released on Nintendo’s digital distribution services this week are Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers, Crystal Caverns of Amon-Ra and more."
"Similar to superhero games, video game movies should have some success but never seem to be that great. Many of the best video games have been brought to life on the big screen (Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Max Payne) but they rarely hit the mark and are criticized high and wide for their poor acting, bad story, cheesy effects, or any combination of those things and more. It has been a curiosity of mine why video game movies don’t work and I have put a lot of thought into the topic. I think..."
"Since the beginning, seeing our favorite video game characters and their worlds on the big screen has always been an intriguing prospect. Similarly, interacting with our favorite big screen actors and villains via a video game has been equally as novel. However, it seems that whoever attempts to satisfy the desire for games to appear as movies or movies to appear as games generally seems to muck it up and churn out something just short of a fresh turd on a hot day."
Street Fighter II has the honor of being one of the greatest fighting games ever. Just think about some of the things the game brought to gaming. Street Fighter II helped revitalize arcades, made fighting games popular, and helped spawn such games as Darkstalkers, Street Fighter IV, and Marvel vs series would have never been made. What would the world be without Street Fighter II?
"Now when most people think of sexually attractive characters in gaming, they usually assume it’s only female characters. Developers know that the men of gaming also have to “look good” too. That’s why we’ve sprinkled in a couple of the hottest men in video games as well."
"Last year, (2009) was referred to by many as the year of the fighting game. The ridiculously anticipated Street Fighter 4 blew gamers away and more or less revived the genre. Marvel vs Capcom 2 returned to modern consoles, a move applauded by both new and hardcore fans. Tekken landed on a non-Sony console for the first time ever, earning mostly positive feedback and reviews. Not to mention Guilty Gear developer Arc System Works made the beautiful BlazBlue. Overall it was a fantastic year ..."
"When it comes to fighting games, Capcom is still considered the king among many gamers. The solid gameplay offered in Capcom franchises keep hardcore virtual combatants coming back for more. But there is one thing that draws us in besides the physics engines and collision detection. It's the female fighters. That's why we've compiled a list of the sexiest female characters from Capcom fighters. Sure the pickings were slim when women first entered the Capcom fighting scene back in Street Fight..."
"The reason I find myself asking this question is because me and my friends were discussing about games we played in our childhood, with the typical titles like Sonic, Mario, Zelda, Streets of Rage, and Street Fighter making the grade. Bringing up the notion that they don’t make games like they used to, but this brought up the thought of times change, and games moved on with the times. By this statement I do not mean in regards to technology, but in the sense of consumers needs. As, in my chil..."
Edge Magazine has produced probably one of the best ways to get a person to subscribe to a print magazine again... have an incentive being you get this bad ass "Pixel Poster" .. click "Go to source" to see what the image is and attempt to find every single video game included (I assure you.. it is too many, especially with the image being sized down). For the love of all that is holy, somebody please share in the comments the full size image!
Ah, Capcom, they've given us some pretty iconic games over these long years. The publisher recently released a list of their 44 bestsellers, or games that exceeded 1 million units sold since release, up until the fiscal year ending in March 2009.
The top 10 aren't too surprising. These figures are for separate platforms, so multiplatform games may appear more than once. PS3 and Xbox 360 sales are lumped together.
1. Street Fighter II (1992) - 6.3 millionz
2. Resident E...
"Videogame history is littered with rage and frustration. While we all love and cherish this noble hobby we call gaming, it has still been the source of thrown controllers, broken furniture and endless streams of curse words. While much anger has been had at bad level design, cheap deaths and wasted money, plenty of rage has been reserved for the characters themselves.
Game characters can be incredibly annoying. This is the result of an industry where game developers try to be writers, and ..."
"Video game characters are increasingly becoming the poster children for gym membership. With most of gamings heroes and heroines being chiseled, pert and with cheek bones you could grate cheese on, there seems to be less and less room for the more gelatinous gentleman in the industry.
Thats why we thought wed celebrate those characters who said no to Atkins and still managed to pull off moves that would shame most gold-winning Olympians. But while they might seem fighting fit on your co..."
Following in the wake of Japan's one game week, Europe follows suit, but with a better game than Devil World.
Europe's single game this week is one of the games North America got this week: Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers. For those that need a reminder, this is the game that introduced Cammy, Dee Jay, T.Hawk and Fei Long as playable characters.
Keep track of the latest VC releases wi...
Yet another two games were added to the North American Virtual Console today, and both aren't the first games of their respective series.
The first game in this batch of two is Adventures of Lolo 2 for the NES. Like it's predecessor, it is a puzzle game, although it seems not much was changed from the first game.
The second game is yet another Street Fighter; Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers. This is the SFII game that introduced Fei Long, T.Hawk, Cammy and Dee Jay as play...
With the NA releases of Sin & Punishment and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels on the Virtual Console, paying attention to which games get VC releases in both Japan and Europe get much more important, as these games are then ready to be used on the VC, and sport the possibility of crossing the ocean.
There's nothing like a good update without our two favorite manly men Adon and Samson. Ai Cho Aniki stars just Adon and Samson (without the prequel's Idaten and Benten), and features button ...
