"Videogame execs say impatient gamers increasingly act like Veruca Salt from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory — they want their games now, Daddy, and if you don’t give them what they want, they’ll find somebody who will.
“People have no patience,” said Steve Perlman, CEO of OnLive, a company that is currently beta-testing a service that streams high-def games directly into homes without the need for consoles. “What they want is all media, and they want it instantly delivered.”"
2008 had tons of crazy moments in the world of gaming, and EuroGamer has decided to run through the events that happened from July all the way to December. They include the E3 conferences, the new 160 GB PS3, and Wii Music.

Tabula Rasa will be closing its doors on February 29th, 2009. NCSoft pulled the plug on the project after its lackluster launch and subscription numbers floundered. They will let people play for free starting on January 10th as a thank you. Tabula Rasa was an attempt at combining the sci-fi and fantasy genres in an MMORPG setting while making use of 'twitch-based' FPS player skills.
Are we going to hit a video game burst similar to the one during the Atari days before Nintendo saved the day!? A little discussion on the news about Brandon Crisp. James not only is allergic to coconut, but doesn't eat beef either, sad times. Allison doesn't know if she wants Rock Band or Guitar Hero.
Challenge James in a video game quiz where you can pick the category, and we'll give you a prize. Enjoy this weeks The Bender (or else!)
Tabula Rasa is set to be expanded, by the developers, ncsoft and I'm here to give you a sneak peak at the latest video from the game, which will hint to you, what is in store for players in the coming few weeks:

"Tabula Rasa has been pushed back a couple of weeks to November 2nd, 2007. While the game was announced to have "gone gold" several weeks ago, the developers are still tweaking and tuning the engine."
"Tabula Rasa literally means "blank slate" in Latin. For months before the beta, I was trying to figure out why that name would be chosen for a science fiction MMORPG. What made Richard Garriott pick that name several years ago. Well, after playing in the closed and open beta of the game, I have a clearer understanding of where the name came from and how well this MMORPG stacks up to the competition."
Its just George, Paul and Stephen this week as we go through another week of gaming news and views. This week we talked about whether Halo 3 is reaching overhyped status among gamers. Also We hit on the Playstation Home beta that was extended into October. We have a small segment on the Microsoft Chatpad. We talk about how the hackers will take over the Guitar Hero 3 franchise when it hits the PC and Mac this fall. And we talk in depth about the Castlevania series.
It becomes even more apparent why Garriot is very interested in the PS3, despite being a rival against SOE. Not only did NCsoft want to get in the console market but was also attracted to the PS3's "best Internet connectivity and greatest freedom of Web access and interaction available to the user," The deal also includes the PlayStation Portable as well, as you may have known.

The call to attract a "non-traditional" market in the gaming industry is stronger than ever, and breaking into the "mainstream" is a measure of success for games. Wired takes a look at what upcoming online games are doing to lure a larger demographic of potential gamers into their worlds. The article rightly points out World of Warcraft as proof that MMOs can attract a mainstream audience.
This is one of the few games that caught my eye last E3. Able to customize your weapons, splendid graphics, and it mixes MMORPG with Action/Shooter.
