Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 5: Rise of the Pirate God

"The Wii Shop Channel is jam packed with new WiiWare games this week. Whether you are hungry to play with rookie lawyer Phoenix Wright, in Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Justice for All, challenge your mind in Brain Cadets or catch the fifth and final chapter in the Tales of Monkey Island series, there will be something for you."

"The end is here, the series that could so easily have been a thundering disaster has turned out to be a pleasant surprise, on the whole. Despite having perhaps some of the lowest lows of any major Telltale series, it also has the highest highs, averaging out somewhere in the “ah, that was nice” zone when you finish all five episodes. Most importantly, it leaves you wanting more, which is always a good sign."

The review points out that the graphics and audio are pretty much on par (or exactly the same) as the previous four entries in the seriesm with minor improvements in the visuals. While describing chapter 5 as "slower", the review is favorable of the title.

Because while I’ll play anything new with the Monkey Island name on it, it will only be in respect to the original game until someone with ..."

"Those of you who have been following my reviews of the episodic adventure Tales of Monkey Island by TellTale will know I’ve had very little bad to say about the game, overall. After playing through dozens of ho-hum point-and-clicks, many that suffer from poor writing, irritating, uncreative puzzles, and frustrating bugs, the latest romp through the Caribbean with Guybrush Threepwood has been a breath of fresh air.
