"GamingUnion: "In honour of Final Fantasy XIII-2's release this past week, we've decided to compile a list of our ten favourite Japanese role-playing games for the current home console / handheld generation. While things have been tough in general for Japan as of late, there have been a numerous titles to truly capture the spirit of a JRPG and pushed the genre in new directions."

Tales of Vesperia and Raiden IV were made available on the Xbox 360 Games on Demand Marketplace today. Currently an Xbox 360 exclusive, Tales will also be getting a PS3 release later this year.

XSEED’s Tom Lipschultz made several more comments about the possibility of his company localizing the Japan-only “Tales of” games in North America.

XSEED’s Localization Specialist Tom Lipschultz comments about the possibility publishing the “Tales of” Japan-only games on the PSP and Playstation 3 for North America.

NIS America’s Nao Zook comments about the possibility of them localizing the Playstation 3 version of the popular RPG, Tales of Vesperia, for North America.

"PlayStation 3-owning fans of the Tales series will be sad to hear that currently Namco Bandai has no plans to release the PS3 port of the 2008 Japanese role-playing game in the US. The port hit shelves in Japan last September and is about to get a combination anime/downloadable content Blu-Ray this May."

"Dengeki has released the results of a readers poll in which people voted for what they thought was the best game of 2009. A list of the top 20 has been published on their website and Final Fantasy XIII has managed to secure second place. Although there has been a backlash of Japanese fans who have complaints ranging from Final Fantasy XIII's linearity to there being no levels, it still seems to have won people over."

Tales of Vesperia is due to receive some more new costumes from some of the older Namco characters. More particularly from Klonoa, Soulcalibur, and Xenosaga. Furthermore these releases are exclusive to Playstation 3.

Get Excited.

"Other Tales heroes spiritually found way into Tales of Vesperia, sort of. Their outfits made it into the game.

If you have the PlayStation 3 version, you can purchase costumes that make Flynn look like Lukas from Tales of Tempest and change Patty into Mithos from Tales of Symphonia. Each costume goes for 300 yen or $3.47 by today’s exchange rate."

"For the first part of this generation’s life cycle there was not a lot for the PS3 in terms of RPG’s. The PS3 now has a few gems with Valkyria Chronicles and Disgaea 3, as well as a former Xbox exclusive in Eternal Sonata. With age the PlayStation 3 seems like more attractive platform for RPG developers and publishers.

Next year marks a great year in terms of Role Playing Games with the big boys Square-Enix finally releasing Final Fantasy XIII, XIII Versus and XIV. While the Final Fantasy ..."

In his own personal blog, voice-actor Rikiya Koyama writes that Tales of Vesperia, one of the latest of the Tales series to hit the 360 and PS3 (in Japan), will also be getting a Wii release. He has taken part in Tales of Vesperia by voicing Duke in the game, a distant and mysterious character who can be looked at as a friend or a foe. Koyama also makes a small note of the animated film based on the events before the game, of which his character wasn't included in. Whilst it isn't an official...

"Namco Bandai is officially rolling out their downloadable content plan for Tales of Graces and the first digital download will be a set of Tales of Vesperia outfits.

Pre-order Tales of Graces and you get a code to access three costumes. Asbel gets Yuri’s outfit, Sophie turns into pirate girl Patty, and Sheria dresses like Rita.

For comparison’s sake here are the same characters in their original outfits. Gotta love Asbel’s disco suit!"

"One of the questions concerned a possible sequel for the original Vesperia game and the movie. Regarding the game sequel, Yoshizumi said that during meetings, staff would ask him, "Will you be making Vesperia 2?" to which he would respond, "Don't talk like a fan!". "It appears that [within the company] there's a desire to make part 2," he said. "We're thinking about it.""

In the first public day of this year's Tokyo Game Show, Namco Bandai held a stage event for their two main Tales titles for this year: Tales of Graces for the Wii, and Tales of Vesperia for the PlayStation 3.

As of now, Namco has only announced the release of the PS3 port of Tales of Vesperia for the Japanese market, but could the company have plans to release it in the West, too? A member of the official Tales Of forums has hacked the Japanese PS3 demo and has found english translations of spells and locations in the code- something which would'nt be needed, seeing that the demo is Japanese-only.

Namco Bandai has provided some more news on the trio of Tales games that are being released.

Tales of Vesperia for the PS3 now has a Japanese release date of September 17. PS3 will be having some additions not featured in the 360 version. However, it will set Japanese gamers back 7,800 yen ($80).

They've given more information on the heroine starring in Tales of Graces for the Wii. "Sophie" suffers from amnesia when she meets Asbel, who provides her with the name. Not much else is known...

"PS3 owners should count their lucky stars that they're getting the game later this fall. It won't make an RPG lover out of an RPG hater, but for fans of the genre it's a must buy. Oh, and did I mention? Free shipping! Go buy it now if you haven't already."

"Before even picking-up the controller, the simply beautiful visuals are immediately captivating. Capturing an anime style in a vibrantly colourful world, the smooth animation and distinctive characters do just as much to endear the player as the meticulous combat system."

The PS3 version of Tales of Vesperia will have a few more bells and whistles than its 360 counterpart, according to a announcement Bandai Namco made today. The character Flynn will apparently receive more screentime in the remake, as well as new arts, skits and two new bosses.

Whilst this news will most likely only appeal to a very small number of us at Gamegrep, it's still great to note. Tales of Vesperia has finally been pinned down to a set date and will be released in PAL territories on the 26th June 2009!

Be sure to keep checking back for when the full website goes live!

The first PS3 video of the once 360 exclusive RPG is up, showing off how the game will look on Sony's machine. I haven't seen the Tales of Vesperia in action before before, so I can't see how it measures up or what is new. Still the game seems to be looking like a good solid RPG, anything with this much lolicon ship captains, playable dogs and Michael Jackson skull knight look a likes can't be horrible.
