The Evolution Championship Series is an annual video game tournament that focuses exclusively on fighting games. In fighting game communities it is commonly referred to as "Evo", and is currently the premier video game tournament for fighting games in the United States. As with Super Battle Opera, the Evolution tournaments are so well known that typically contestants will travel from all over the world to participate, most notably Japan.

On Thursday Namco Bandai will release a new patch for Tekken 6 that is set to offer some improvements. Most notably these improvements are for the online component of the game. Apart from improved input response, the patch is supposed to further fix the online lag issues and help out players in ranked matches by finding matches according to priorities and canceling out of matches if the opponent's connection is poor.

Fans of hand-held consoles will be pleased to hear this news. Tekken 6 and Soul Calibur are coming to the Playstation Portable.
Both games will have multiplayer support and heavy character customization. The Soul Calibur game is very similar to SCIV, but won't be a direct port.

At their conference at the Tokyo Game Show starting today, Microsoft has announced some games headed their way to the Xbox 360:
In a special press conference that was held yesterday, Namco Bandai announced that the original version of Tekken 6 that was released at late 2007, will not reach the consoles, but the newer version named 'Bloodline Rebellion' will, and will have more content than it's arcade version!

Last year it was confirmed that a Tekken movie was in the works, and that Dwight H. Little will be directing the game-to-movie adaptation. Fans waited for months for more info, but little else was revealed.
