Perry Piekarski has been on a reviewing roll lately. Unfortunately not with the best of games. In fact, Terminator has been so terrible that he posted the score for the review at the very top of the page so you wouldn't even have to read the review to know how bad it is.
TheGamerAccess.com has posted a review of the recently released title, Terminator Salvation. Can this title compete with the hottest shooters or is it just another half done movie game?
"The new bundle is set to include an 80GB PLAYSTATION 3 console, along with Terminator Salvation, due for release tomorrow, Friday 12th June 2009, and a copy of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines on Blu-ray."
"While many people are excited about the re-mastered version that will arrive via Xbox Live Arcade, I’m still hoping to see a true sequel that will live up to the lineage of the original Perfect Dark."
"With the release of the new Terminator movie, developer GRIN has taken up the challenge to bring this blockbuster movie franchise to the console world. GRIN has done this before and succeeded with the release of Wanted: Weapons of Fate. But do they bring us 'salvation' this time around? Or should it be 'terminated'?"

"In this third person shooter developed by GRIN, you assume the role of John Connor as he fights among the human resistance against Skynet in the bleak setting of a devastated Los Angeles in the year 2016. Connor has yet to become the leader and savior of humanity as originally prophesized by his mother, and is trying to accept the fact that this may never come to be. He fears that he is simply another powerless drone in a conflict that his fellow soldiers simply cannot win."
I personally apologize for bringing this episode of The Bender a day late, I have been working my butt off trying to get a Sacred 2 review out sooner than later. To make up for this, enjoy one of the crew being drunk as we discuss the game news of the week along with some E3 talk. Grab the mp3 directly here or off iTunes here.
For those that picked up the Terminator Salvation game on PC, you may have had a little trouble, er, installing the game, by which we mean you couldn't.
Publisher Evolved Games has let us all know they are aware of the issue and a recall program is in the making -- and for those that haven't bought the game but are thinking about it, working copies will be on shelves soon.
No word on whether or not the digital versions are affected -- do share if you've bought a copy via one of these ou...
A nice few goodies for you to choose from this week -- Bionic Commando is looking pretty great, Terminator Salvation shows some promise (though taking out T-800s with shotguns and such doesn't seem very realistic or fun to us), UFC fans get the latest in the form of Undisputed, Nintendo launches Punch-Out!!, EA tries out the Wii excercise thing, and DS owners get some cool adventures.
"Dark Void
CAPCOM’s Dark Void aka “the jetpack-game,” as Airtight Games developers affectionately refer to it, uses PhysX to create “realistic” jetpack, UFO, and spaceship physics. It also has the distinction of being “the first game to use dynamic, accurate smoke effects and smoke trails.” Dark Void uses a “vertical combat system” that brings the action off the ground, into the air, and back to the ground seamlessly, giving the player a particularly three-dimensional experience. Live out you..."
"“Co-production of whole art pipelines is the future, and working with GRiN on Terminator Salvation was our next step to evolve as a company,” said Alexander L. Fernandez, co-founder and CEO of Streamline Studios, B.V. “After seeing our work in some of the biggest titles of all time, we see a changing landscape for game and asset production and we know our alignment with GRiN is a testament to the quality both of our companies deliver. The partnership has given everyone involved a lot of flexi..."
"In the highly anticipated new installment of The Terminator film franchise, set in post-apocalyptic 2018, Christian Bale stars as John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future that Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the pa..."
Movies often don't make a very good transition to video games, but Terminator Salvation is actually a prequel to the movie and features a pretty cool post-apocalyptic world as a setting. It looks like this one might be a good movie-to-game to keep an eye on.
"Based on the upcoming Terminator Salvation film, Terminator Salvation the videogame offers players the chance to assume the role of John Connor, a soldier in the resistance, battling for survival against the far superior forces of Skynet. Common reprises his film role as Barnes, a humorous ex-football player who manages to crack jokes while battling an army of relentless Terminators. Moon Bloodgood returns to her role as Blair Williams, the confident and attractive resistance soldier who thin..."
It's not just Uncharted 2 debuting at the Spike 2008 Video Game Awards.
Add to that God of War 3, Watchmen; The End is Nigh, Brutal Legend, Mafia II, Terminator Salvation, New Gears of War 2 content, Fight Night Round 4 and 3 yet to be announced games and you've got a better picture of the event !
LIVE on Sunday, December 14th at 9pm.
WB Interactive has announced the Terminator Salvation video game. Apparently, it is going to be similar to Gears of War in gameplay (at least that's what I gather from the description) and will come out the same time the movie does. Color me skeptical however, as most Terminator games that have been released (save for the original back in VGA mode) have not been that great! I do, however, have faith in GRIN.
