"For all its novelty and innovation, the Wii has been unable to scratch one nagging itch: the shooter. Yes, the exceptions spring to mind (the Metroid series, for example), but these great games are still very rarely seen on the console. The Wii-motes’s radical new gameplay style makes shooters risky territory for the console to step foot on. People want to be able to hit their targets, but they don’t want to feel as though some invisible force is guiding them in the process. What’s more, the ..."
"When the first Conduit came out in 2009, High Voltage Games pitched the title as the Wii’s perfect version of first-person gaming. They were going to make the best-looking Wii game with the best possible shooter controls and multiplayer experience. They were even going to offer Wii Speak support for true hardcore gaming."
"When it comes to games, this generation of home consoles hasn't seen nearly as many exclusive as systems in the past did. But both Sony and Microsoft have done quite well at securing a few great exclusives each. And of course we're running down the sexiest female characters to appear in those titles. We did a list of the top five sexiest female characters to appear in Playstation 3 exclusives last week and we have to show the same respect to the women of the Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 made it pre..."
"Microsoft has dropped the ball in so many instances now that it may be completely impossible to recover. Fans of the mega-company's gaming hardware have to face some facts at this point when it comes to the franchises that Microsoft had used to establish the Xbox brand in the first place. They're gone."
This week's The Bender sees the return of Perry, which finds the cast talking more than usual (thus this week you get an extra half hour of show for free!). Mike has Mapathy moral issues, Richard will own every shooter game ever, and James brings the only good things that came from April Fools. Today Sega Australia announced a new game package for the Wii titled Welcome To Violence. The package includes 3 of the best violent based games on the Wii. Going against the family friendly trend of the Wii, this package is perfect for any Wii owning action game fan. Full details after the jump.
"In light of some decisions recently made by third party developers, I believe I have some ideas as to why it's hard to sell hardcore third-party titles on the Wii.
So what do you do? The Wii doesn't have all the technical features of the 360 or the PS3. So how can a third party make a Wii hardcore title that can compete with 360 and PS3 hardcore titles? EA actually had a pretty good idea with Dead Space: Extraction. HD console owners who like Dead Space would be interested. Plus, there ar..."
Ah it's that time of year again, when you're going to be browsing websites or running to the mall for last-minute gift-giving. I mean, really, who does Christmas shopping before the week of? Pfft.
So here's part one of our annual holiday guide. In these pages you'll find hardware and video game gift ideas. Basically we look at our reviews from 2009 and gather them up if our staff liked the products. If you're wondering why we haven't included any of the major upcoming titles, keep in ...
"High Voltage Software, creators of the recently released Wii Science-Fiction First-Person Shooter The Conduit, has announced the opening of a brand new online store. Available now at the official website, the High voltage Software online store is set to offer a variety of merchandise from the developers’ titles."
This week our favourite begrudging reviewer Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw takes a look at the Wii's only shooter (joke) The Conduit. Have a watch via the link below.
High Voltage Software, the enthusiastic developers supporting the Wii with upcoming titles such as The Grinder, have spoken up about possible sequels for their recently released FPS, The Conduit. While the game has fared modestly so far, they have expressed their interest in creating sequels to the game, though they haven't started working on anything yet. But in order to make this a possibility, they would like to see more sales of the original first.
The podcast can be found via the alte...
All Age Gaming's Phong Nguyen presents his weekly wrap of the news from the past week for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii. Topics for discussion this week include The Conduit, Epic's view on the Wii and Project Natal, Uncharted 2's release date and more!
With the release of the June 2009 NPD numbers this week, additional numbers have been made available for Sega and High Voltage Software's The Conduit for the Wii. Releasing on June 23rd, the first person shooter amassed a little less than 72,000 copies sold in the June tracking period, which ran from May 31st to July 4th. Given the time frame of a little more than a week, they are respectable, yet average numbers, amidst middling reviews and mediocre reception. The Conduit's 72k sales numb...
Hacker, hetoan2, believes that The Conduit is "virtually unprotected" and easy to hack. He states that hackers can easily alter the game's values to obtain things like infinite ammo, infinite health, and other advantages. Hetoan2 says that the online component of the game is just as easy to hack as the offline mode. However, instead of tormenting people online, he's decided to team up with High Voltage Software to track down hackers online.
"It’s a bit disappointing that after a few hours of playtime, you realize that the game will probably never deviate from its shoot-everything gameplay. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but in today’s market of shooters, The Conduit feels rather lacking. The game is short, linear, and simple. You’ll trudge along clearing every room of its enemies, solving effortless puzzles with the All-Seeing Eye, and picking up health and ammo every few feet you traverse."
"It is common knowledge that the games available for the Nintendo Wii are teeming with badly-implemented waggle and/or mediocre mini games, especially when it comes to third-party efforts. The Wii has a major shortage of quality first-person shooters, and that’s what High Voltage Software hopes to address as it releases The Conduit. Does High Voltage Software succeed in finally introducing an FPS behemoth for the Nintendo console?"
"The Conduit brings players into the world of Michael Ford, a Secret Service agent tasked with saving the life of the President of the United States. After a mild briefing, the situation expands quickly and pulls players into an intense alien invasion with a mysterious power grab from an additional force turning normal soldiers into drones through use of experimental chemical agents in the air. As a result, the forces turn from just aliens to entire masses of the military and additional agent..."
A new episode of The Bender for the Fourth of July (even though it has nothing to do with the holiday). We talk a bit on that Transformers movie, we pay our respects to the pitch man Billy Mays, Allison goes on about The Conduit, James talks crap about Old Wizard, and Mike gives out a lot of good torrent sites. Listen live/stream through iTunes or download the mp3 here, enjoy!
"When this game was first announced, I was very excited for it and wanted it to be great. The lack of FPS games on the Wii boggled me; it seems like the Wiimote is the perfect controller for this type of genre. Let me tell you that High Voltage hit it just right; the controls are the best part of this game. The sad truth though is that the controls are the best part, not the story, graphics, or gameplay. The Conduit is too rooted in the past to hang with the big boys of this generation but is ..."
It is the opinion of Neoseeker writer Lydia Sung that Nintendo has in recent years fallen a bit off the wagon, so to speak. Okay, a lot.
Citing her experiences at E3 this year, some of the company's contradictory statements and actions, and support of the mature audience (or lack thereof), she divulges on how Nintendo has missed the mark in a lot of ways, and touches on how they can fix it.
Have a read if you feel so inclined!
"Gabriel Vega (Neo): The Wii is a console that caters itself to new and old gamers, how will The Conduit attack these demographics or will the hardcore be given the luxury of having a title geared directly toward them?
Josh Olson: There are over 50 million Wii consoles out there – and we’re confident that a market exists for a title like The Conduit. I think that there’s been some nervousness about the viability of “hardcore” games on the Wii – especially in light of some recent titles tha..."
With the game being released today, IGN have finally provided their review on The Conduit. For those unsure about picking up the title or not buying it today, you might want to read up on what IGN has to say. They've got some good things to say about the game, such as it being a solid FPS experience on the Wii. They also found the customization of the controls to provide an unparalleled experience. The story, while short, was certainly "engrossing." However, they also stated that the game was...

"Taking place in the near future, The Conduit features an intense campaign riddled with conspiracies that will have you battling against a mysterious alien race that has invaded Washington, DC."
""We have near-term, mid-term and long-term opportunities," he claims. "The near-term opportunity is the consumer who owns a PlayStation 3 or an Xbox 360 and has been bad-mouthing Wii to their friends. We can reach that consumer with games like The Conduit or Tiger Woods with Wii Motion Plus."
Reggie's mid-term goal is to get the more mainstream consumer who "just needs a little extra incentive" to get a Wii, something he believes he can do with Motion Plus and New Super Mario Bros. The lon..."

Lucy O'Brien of nzgamer.com takes a look at a promising game for the Wii, The Conduit at E3. With comments such as "excellent sci-fi FPS 'The Conduit'", she clearly describes the game as a future must have with a very positive preview.
High Voltage Software, hot off the heels of announcing Wii 3D Fighter Gladiator A.D., has announced another title exclusively for the Wii today through IGN: The Grinder, a horror-themed first person shooter that has up to four players going up against vampires, werewolves, zombies, and other monsters.
The game will feature four player co-op, either splitscreen locally or over the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. The Grinder will feature four different playable characters each with their own str...
"The first review of The Conduit is officially in. Numerous pictures of the upcoming issue of Nintendo Power prove that this score is the real deal.
Though the game received far from a perfect score, the magazine has given the game the ultimate accolade by stating that The Conduit is “the best pure first-person shooter on Wii.” However, there are a number of valid criticisms. Specifically, Nintendo Power cites unimpressive AI, a weak weapon selection, and a predictable story. On the other h..."
"“2009 is already shaping up to be a groundbreaking year for this studio,” said Kerry J. Ganofsky, CEO and founder of High Voltage Software. “The release of The Conduit is just around the corner and there is more to come. We feel that E3 is the perfect opportunity to show off our hard work and give a taste of our very latest project.”"
In a recent interview with cubed3.com, High Voltage's David Pellas answered fan's questions about the upcoming Wii FPS The Conduit. He discussed why High Voltage made the game for Wii, how it will implement the motion controls and online mode, how it's different than other FPS, and whether the game will be ported to other consoles.

"Traveling to SEGA's Middlesex HQ, Cubed3's Mike Mason sat down with a limited number of other sites, some SEGA staff and, last but certainly not least, Kerry Ganofsky and Eric Nofsinger of High Voltage, to see if The Conduit could really live up to the promises made by its creators."

"So my Wii, probably along with many other “hardcore gamers” has not been turned on in a LONG time(for me since Wario Land: Shake it, which was a disappointment). While games like Mad World and House of the Dead seems fun, I need a game that will last me over five hours to justify a purchase. I’m hoping The Conduit comes together seamlessly and provides many hours of enjoyment."
"SEGA of America Inc. and SEGA Europe Ltd. today announced that Rick Nielsen, guitarist and founding member of the musical group Cheap Trick, would provide guitar tracks for the anticipated title, The Conduit, for Wii. Nielsen, who has penned and performed such hits as I Want You to Want Me and Surrender, is known for his distinctly powerful riffs and for his signature five-neck custom guitar and crowd-pleasing live performances."

"It seems that the bomb was dropped before due time. As reported 2 weeks ago Nintendo Power was going to have the privilege to divulge the most hyped FPS for the Wii online multiplayer details, however someone beat them to it. At NY Comic Con, Eric Nofsinger talked about The Conduits multiplayer. First of all, lets state the things that we already knew."
In this latest blog from our own Neoseeker/GameGrep user Tainted, we get a brief overview of what SEGA has been up to in the publishing and development ring lately, coupled with the suggestion they are "doing something right...finally".
Between Sonic & The Black Knight, The House of the Dead: Overkill, MadWorld, The Conduit, and more, do you think SEGA is on a better road?
"I must admit it was pretty difficult to choose the finalists since there are over 50 Wii games to be released this year (at least this is the number we know of!). Therefore, we had to let out other promising titles like Endless Ocean 2, Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers or Overlord, but Im pretty sure that the list below manages to cover the hottest upcoming releases. So check it out!"

"The story starts as a weather phenomena appearing over the East coast of the United States. This weather system leads to some high level water increase over various rivers such as the Potomac River situated in Washington, D.C. A month later, a flu-like disease named The Bug spread through Washington, D.C. Many reports of missing people start spreading, while others just stay home worried that they would get infected."

"Bringing The Conduit into our library is yet another show of SEGAs belief that the Wii is more than a casual games console," says Gary Knight, European Marketing Director at SEGA of Europe. "As one of the most anticipated Wii games for next year, The Conduit will be the new benchmark for first person shooters."

Electronic Theatre delivers the news of High Voltage Software's announcement of the voice talent that shall lend their vocals to forthcoming Wii exclusive, The Conduit.
Well, for the naysayers here that are up in arms regarding Nintendo ignoring the hardcore audience... they haven't been paying attention. From the ultra violent MADWORLD, to Call of Duty, there are hardcore titles coming for the Wii - just Nintendo isn't making a fuss about them and focusing more on marketing to the mainstream. That said, many are claiming The Conduit will be for the Wii what GoldenEye was for the N64.... Locke Webster once again delivers the goods!
Electronic Theatre delivers brand new official screenshots of the Wii-exclusive title The Conduit, released by High Voltage Software early this morning.

Well here are a few upcoming Nintendo games that might tickle your fancy ...
In a recent Nintendo Radio Podcast, High Voltage Software developers Rob Nichols (lead designer) and Tony Mecca (animator) discussed whether or not Friend Codes will be used in the upcoming Wii shooter The Conduit.
Although the two developers admitted they aren't fans of the Friend Code system, they pointed out that this is Nintendo's console and in the end they have to "have [Nintendo's] permission and their sign-off for whatever we put into the game" and that "if we have to use Friend C...

High Voltage Software's Eric Nofsinger recently provided more specific details about the release date of The Conduit. In a video interview with Gamereactor, Nofsinger explained that the development team is hoping to launch the game in March 2009.
"The Conduit was the very first game I demoed at E3, and it remained the highlight right to the end of the day. I cant tell you which I liked more the actual game, or the passion from the guys at High Voltage. I cant stress enough that these guys are true Wii fans and gamers just like you and I. They dont get why third parties dont deliver AAA content to the Wii. They know that platform can do so much more than what is currently available. They love the casual/expanded audience, but they w..."
