Some of these are amazingly true! If box covers hadn't progressed like games have in the last 30 years, this is exactly how I'd imagine each title's box to look like! I particularly like the Fifa 12 cover. Take a gander for yourself.

"Thank goodness, Skyrim has been patched on PlayStation 3! I can finally go back and rediscover the grumbling hulk that is my Orc. His name is Zalrith. The poor fellow has few things in his life that he truly cares about. One is his love of blacksmithing; spending hours bathed in the sweltering heat of the forge as new creations come to life in his hands allows him to glimpse something akin to divinity. He flat out refuses to carry any weapon not forged by his own hands and favours a beastly, ..."
Gamesta.com takes a look at what controversial game developer David Jaffe had to say at this year's DICE summit. "Vice president of PR and marketing at Bethesda, Pete Hines, announced on Twitter that "It's coming! 1.4 should go up on XBL early tomorrow.” He also said that the "PS3 update is looking good too." It seems that there are just a few technicalities to work out and that they will "update if we get more info from Sony.""

"An amazing thing happened recently. I bought Rayman: Origins, put it in my PlayStation 3 and was playing the game in mere moments. It wasn’t until later that I realised something incredible had occurred; I didn’t have to wait to play the game. I thought back to my actions: I put the disc in the console, started the game and then played it. Nothing barged between me and my entertainment. No online passes fell out the case to force me into redeeming fiddly little codes to access features I alre..."

Collector's Editions have become the norm this gaming generation. Everything from RPGS to FPS games, everything has a CE these days. The question is do gamers really want collector's editions? "One of the big themes of gaming recently is morality. It was squeezed into all sorts of places, but tended to force the player into a pure good or pure evil playthrough of a game, as the strict dichotomy setup between the two didn’t accommodate for the foggier choices people tend to be forced into making in real life. I find the idea an excellent one, though. A game where my decisions affect the world around me in some way inevitably draws me deeper into the narrative as I make the character ..."

One was a fire mage, the other a frost mage. After killing them both (they were hostile, I promise), I took a moment to marvel at the consistency of it all. Here, in the middle of nowhere, I encountered something that I might have easily missed: a continuation, perhaps, of an eternal feud between fire and ice. While this duel might ot..."

"I went to the January sales last week. Aside from the soul-crushing, miserable experience of thousands of people desperately shoving their way through department stores and clothing outlets that characterizes shopping for a bargain at this time of year, I found myself struck by an interesting thought. What if the prices of video games were structured differently? What if, instead of the standard £40/$60 price tag that most games get at release (and the slightly lower one that HD collections h..."
A recent article on Yahoo mentioned several ways to get rid of old games. Trading them to Gamestop, Amazon, or Goozex, or selling them on eBay or Glyde. There are still other options such as Walmart, TRU, Best Buy, and Target. All of these along with Goozex are giving Gamestop a run for its money. Goozernation, using Skyrim breaks down what each site would give gamers in cash or credit and which is the overall better deal.
"Having bought myself the videogames I wanted most before the arrival of the holidays, I’ve come to a painful realization. You see, by purchasing all the games that interested me before they could be given to me as presents, I inadvertently killed much of the Christmas’ ‘buzz.’ This year, it wasn’t like when I was younger and had no choice but to wait for the big day, bubbling with anticipation and excitement for games I knew I’d unwrap.
You remember that feeling, right?"

Fortunately our “Cleaner” teams managed to prevent the mainstream media from learning about the Bulletsorm rape gangs in [REDACTED] and the Gamestop shootings in [REDACTED], yet this game still caused widespread loss of life despi..."
"2011 has been a very well-paced year for gamers. We started out with a couple of hits in January and ended with a major release less than a week before Christmas. My favorites this year include horror, comedy, epic RPG’s, downloadable arcade games, and even a DLC pack from a 2010 game that was so good it deserves just as much honor as the full games. Developers are making great games at a faster rate than anyone can play them all, but here are ten that I thoroughly enjoyed."
With 2011 coming to a close, it's time to start looking forward. Matt Beaudette of Gaming Irresponsibly counts down the Top 10 Most Anticipated Games of 2012.
Daav from NoobFeed.com is back for a final piece of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim; the game that will not let go. It's pretty obvious by now that this game is more awesome than taking an arrow to the knee, so virtually no reference will be made of it here. Just enjoy an experience in the world of Skyrim.

"2011 was another year of amazing gaming experiences and, for me and select other gamers, it passed virtually without issue. Unfortunately, many others seem to have gotten the short end of the pointy gaming stick. In other words, even though 2011 offered some of the greatest games released this gen, a few screw-ups, mishaps, let downs and straight-up bad decisions made some gamers feel like the industry’s only real goal was to get them to grab their proverbial ankles. Without further adieu –..."

"As a gamer there are a few things I expect from the product I spend my money on. Up there at the top of the list of expectations, alongside ‘the game has to be good’ and ‘it must have some sort of longevity’ are a few things that I took for granted up until recently, chief among which is ‘the game must be playable for as long as I desire to play it’. Other things I took for granted are ‘I must be able to understand everything that is happening on-screen at any given moment’ and ‘when I put th..."
In this week's edition of Top 10 Tuesdays, Matt Beaudette of Gaming Irresponsibly runs down the Top 10 Games of 2011. Where does your favorite game rank on the list?
"For many of us the VGAs were a bit underwhelming.
We had new announcements in the form of new ‘post-apocaliptic’ zombie survival type games (sigh), and new footage of some upcoming games that look either very promising (Bioshock Infinite, Hitman Absolution) or incredibly silly (Metal Gear Rising: Revengance, or as I call it: Devil May Rise: Cryvengance).
Then we had the idiocy that made our gaming industry look even more puerile with ‘tea bagging’ those whose speech went a little long and..."
"PSS: "You just watched the Spike TV Game of the Year Awards, and might be watching the re-runs right now. However we are glad to have you here and want to share our own game of the year awards. We have browsed the internet, talked with one another, and made several tough decisions, but this is what we believe the winners should be! Either way, this was an absolutely fantastic year to be a gamer.""
NoobFeed.com watches the VGA too, but was rather surprised at one particular entry. Therefore, Daav has come up with his own batch of selected trailers of other deserving participants. Some trailers are rightfully familiar, but there are also a few surprises which shouldn't go unnoticed. And hey; it's yet another way to watch clips instead of studying for exams.
In part 4 of this series on storytelling in games, Matt Beaudette of Gaming Irresponsibly takes a look a few smaller elements used to tell stories in video games.
"Well, another year, another Video Game Awards show from Spike TV. The network aired the two hour special last night, chock full of celebrities, gaming awards (more of the former than the latter) and several big exclusives. Zachary Levi hosted the show this year, and was surprisingly more effective than last year’s hosting gig by Neil Patrick Harris, thanks to his entry through a Portal and some comical bits that actually weren’t half bad. Even if we’re still trying to figure out who the hell ..."
"With only a couple of weeks left of 2011, we here at PlanetXbox360 want to close out the year with a bang! To do so, our staff of writers has thought long and hard about these past twelve months of gaming goodness and we've put together a comprehensive awards list for 2011."
Gamers aways come up with the craziest ways to integrate, create and suprise us all. This time, a guy has gone a head and modded Skyrim so that it takes controls from the Xbox Kinect - and it actually works.
Perhaps to a fault, Skyrim is an enormously immersive experience that demands a legitimately concerning amount of time and involvement from its players to explore adequately – and that may well be its greatest accomplishment of all. As gamers reflect on this generation’s high points in the coming years, the towering peaks of Skyrim will undoubtedly rest among its highest.
"Today Bethesda released a small update to fix the issues caused by 1.2. Update 1.3 is now available on Steam and is being submitted to Sony and Microsoft. Good news for PC gamers, bad news for console gamers. The certification process can take up to a week, but this being a smaller patch maybe we’ll get lucky and see a release before the end of the week. For now check out what was fixed in the latest patch."
Since The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was released three weeks ago, Bethesda has been working on some things that are pretty exciting including a new title update.
I hope everyone else is excited as I am. Bethesda will be releasing the Skyrim creation kit for free in January. All the tools the developers used will be available to us!

"Walk outside any city for 20 minutes and you’ll encounter caves, bandits, wolves, a dragon, a word of power, and 15 side quests that take an Excel document and a calendar to keep track of."
"The heroic act of killing dragons becomes rather mundane after a while. These are the god-like beasts whose presence throws the world into chaos, but the player can bring them down easier than some of the other enemy types, like giants or wooly mammoths. It seems a little silly to kill a dragon with relative ease, then find your mighty Dovakiin getting clobbered by Mister Snuffleupagus."
""Personally, I’ve always subscribed to that hardcore gamer mentality. I used to hate the fact that if I made a mistake in Dirt 3, all I needed to do was rewind my progress and all would be forgiven. As I’ve gotten older and increasingly have less time to game, I’ve realized that mechanics like this are actually extremely useful and probably should be included in most games, preferably on an optional basis. I don’t have the time to replay a 10 lap race in Dirt just because I made a silly error..."
Daav from NoobFeed.com embarks on perhaps the most compelling adventure this year in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Though it has prominent inconsistencies, the latest iteration from this renowned franchise never disappoints one tiny bit and delivers in a myriad of ways, unique to the game. Lest it be redundant; Skyrim is a must-have.
Default Prime reviewer Matt Buckley takes time out of his day (life) to explore the vast world that Bethesda has created in Skyrim. The resulting events have culminated in one of the most satisfying gaming experiences to date. This is a game that is not to be missed.
"Bethesda Softworks has been developing Patch 1.2 since the game’s launch, and the fix has finally made its way (with the name Patch 2.01) to North American shores on the PS3. Senior Community Manager Gstaff posted the official patch notes on the Bethesda forums earlier today, with a disclaimer that the Xbox 360 and PC versions of the patch are expected to arrive on Wednesday."
"Dovakiin, what is best in life? A comfy chair, a hot cup of tea, and a good book! This is best in life! Among the many pleasures that Skyrim affords is the chance to enjoy hundreds of books featuring short stories, history lessons and works of poetry from the land of Tamriel. Alas, until now, you could only enjoy such literary classics as The Lusty Argonian Maid, and The Real Barenziah while sitting in front of your computer. But now, thanks to the work of game blogger Capaneus, you can ..."
Online retailer, Amazon.com, has a few unadvertised Black Friday video game deals, including modest discounts for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception and more.
Daav from NoobFeed.com reveals the second diary entry from his Dovakhiin. The adventurer might not be getting closer to ridding the skies of Skyrim from peril, but there has been one sound improvement: Punching a dragon to death with his bare hands! This is however offsets by strange "jitters" that plague the lands, as if designed by th Nine deities themselves.
"Skyrim's only been out for a few weeks, but as soon as the game hit the shelves, enhancements propagated on TES websites worldwide. We've taken the time to sift through nearly every mod out there just so we can tell you what the best Skyrim mods are (and the most stable). Enjoy these graphical improvements to an already-beautiful game!"

"If you are reading this, you either live in some Third World country that doesn't have turkeys, or you snuck away from your Thanksgiving festivities to read about video games on the internet. When your family joins hands around the dinner table and everyone takes turns saying what they're thankful for, your Mom probably doesn't want to hear about how happy you are that there’s no level cap in Skyrim. But we here at Player Affinity know how you feel. Here are few games that we feel thankfu..."
"There are places that truly give a crap about games and will do everything in their power to give each game what it deserves. Others will treat the GOTY voting as nothing more than a popularity contest where the game that sold the most is the winner."
"It may surprise you to learn that I have been playing Skyrim. You know, that game that’s been mentioned once or twice recently. The thing is, I had a few theories about this game before I played it. I’ve made no secret either of the fact I feel generally let down by most developers in this modern age as the illusion of greater choice waters down the overall experience of a deep narrative, or that hype generally leads to disappointment. The frenzy around Skyrim had caused my scepticism to rise..."
Target has a few discounts on Xbox 360 games that can't be found at other retailers this Black Friday. They also have a pretty decent Kinect bundle for just $99.00
"I know you’ve all been playing Skyrim, and I know you all love the main theme you hear every time you start the game. Even when you’re not playing you can hear it in the back of your head (“Dovahkiin!Dovahkiin!”), as if the game itself were summoning you. If that sounds like you then you’re in for a treat."
After all the turkey, potatoes, stuffing and cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving, you're probably going to be hungry for a good helping of Skyrim. Lucky for you, it's just about that time that Skyrim gets it's first update patch.
The Spike Video Game Awards are always good for a certain level of hilarity, only not the kind you want. Disney's Epic Mickey? Need for Speed: The Run? L.A. Noire being up for best graphics over Battlefield 3?
What were they thinking?

"Big-budget gaming has backed itself into a corner. It’s your fault. It’s my fault. It’s the fault of developers, publishers and reviewers. Even technology has played a part. Allow me to explain: we live in privileged times where we can get games tailored to nearly every taste and whim, but we’ve reached an impasse. The problem is the number of games that have quite literally outdone themselves."
In this episode, the guys talk about The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Super Mario 3D Land, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, Sonic Generations, Lord of the Rings: War in the North, GoldenEye 007: Reloaded, Cave Story 3D, Toy Story 3: The Game, Family Feud & Friends, Quarrel Deluxe, Lego Harry Potter (both), and more!
"Good Afternoon Agents, as you should all be aware, Bethesda, the publisher of the Elder Scrolls series filed a lawsuit against Swedish developer Mojang over the latter’s use of the word ‘Scroll’ in their upcoming gameScrolls. Our intel team in Maryland recently conducted a sweep of Bethesda’s headquarters and discovered that they are currently considering a second suit based on an even more flagrant copyright violation by this foreign-based game developer."
"I don't believe that a perfect game has come out yet but I would easily peg Bethesda as the developers to make it happen. Fallout 3 is my favorite game of all time and Skyrim is set to swallow my life whole if I'm not careful. There are however, in my mind, a few missteps in the latest installment in the Elder Scrolls series."
If any of you can pull you head away from Skyrim just for one second, there's some good news coming around the corner. Developer Bethesda announced that there will be a Skyrim patch coming soon to fix a number of errors.

"The box that The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind comes in boasts that the game has “Over 300 hours of gameplay”. I presume that the publisher Bethesda considers a 300 hour game to be a good thing, but all I think when I look at the box is I’m going to die in a few decades; I don’t have time for this. When you add in that Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion packs in a good 100 hours of content too, playing these games is like working a full-time job."
"Sometimes it's hard to make good first impressions. In most cases, first impressions determine how people will judge you from then on. In Skyrim, this is no exception. You may be the last Dragonborn, but sometimes it's wise to just keep to yourself. Skyrim's a big and dangerous place, full of dangerous people. Here's a quick run through of how to avoid trouble."

"When The Elder Scrolls III Morrowind appeared, many gamers were tantalized by those sexy female Argonians. As a race of humanoid reptiles, they obviously didn’t have mammary glands, and fans spent years wondering just what forbidden delights were concealed beneath the clothes that they wore. Unfortunately modders spoiled the mystery by creating nude mods for the game and ruined the mystique of these amphibious vixens. The lesson learned is: Even if you have a Lizard Girl fetish, mods that..."

"Sometimes, when I’m playing a game with a massively open world, I get overwhelmed with the amount of sidequests and optional content there is available. I get distracted. I get overencumbered faster than you can accuse my character of stealing. I feel… almost lost. Directionless. With no major push towards the main quest, I can look at the game as a whole and go, “Wow, I can’t see actually finishing this”. So I don’t."

Bethesda has been claiming for awhile now that there is a whole host of information that they are still sitting on, but that will trickle out in the coming weeks. For the current fan base this is going to be an instant pick up but what about new fans? "At this point in the lore most of the dragon born will have been exterminated, the empire has fallen apart without a successor to the emperor, and in the land of Skyrim, the king has died and created a political vacuum. Apparently civil war in Skyrim foretells the coming of a huge, bad ass, old god, Alduin, who takes the form of a dragon. He also seems to want to destroy Tamriel and everything else. Kind of an asshole I think."

"In game development, the visual improvements, non-player character AI tweaks, and new storytelling philosophies are all for naught if the base activity the player performs the most frequently is uninteresting or unrefined. In the case of an action role-playing game like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, those activities are swinging swords, shooting arrows, or casting spells at the myriad bloodthirsty enemies rushing toward you in foreboding dungeons of Tamriel. Aware of the combat shortcomings an..."
