"Can’t wait to dive into Cataclysm? Is the anticipation for The Old Republic killing you? Or, are you just bitter after the train wreck that is Final Fantasy XIV? The number of free-to-play MMOs is staggering, and finding the good ones is quite a challenge. Don’t worry, my top five free-to-play MMOs will not only help you save some green, but also make sure you’re getting top-notch gameplay and entertainment."
Lord of the Rings Online (LotRO) site claims the game will soon turn to a free to play (no monthly subscription) model. While this sounds great on paper, the amount of hidden costs just to enjoy the game are absurd.
"Starting on May 25th and running until May 31st, previous subscribers to Lord of the Rings Online can play for free. The welcome back free week will let players, even if they're inactive, play the game and reap the benefits of a few bonuses."
"From April 29th until May 3rd players can return to the Lord of the Rings Online for free. This weekend's welcome back celebration comes just in time for gamers to participate in LotRO's third anniversary events and catch the end of the Spring Festival."
